VCA owner and noted Epidemiologist (specialist in infectious disease), Doctor Russ Hampshire, defends beleagured HIV positive male performer Marc Wallice who's widely regarded by his peers as the most likely source of AIDS infection for up to six porn actresses. Wallice has worked as an editor at VCA for about nine months.
In his interview with AVN journalist Mark Kernes this week (run 3/12 on www.geneross.com), Wallice did not help his cause. He appeared confused, combative and cuntlike.
Hampshire was annoyed by these writings of mine Thursday:

If Marc goes to trial; indeed if the Brooke Ashley lawsuit goes to trial, you'll be able to thank the media more than anybody for whipping up as much excitement over this case as possible. Many smut journalists as well as mainstreamers would love to see talent agent Jim South, AIDS czar Sharon Mitchell, porn's trade group the Free Speech Coalition, along with porners Kevin Beech, Cash Markman, Dan Beck and Robert DuPree as well as their companies face criminal charges. The tabloid TV show Hard Copy is doing a piece on Marc Wallice and its producer is hell bent on getting the Los Angeles District Attorney's office to hand down an indictment of Marc."
Hampshire [noon, 3/12]: "How do you know this about Hard Copy, the DA's office?"
Luke: "Sources."
Hampshire: "Well, you better be sure of them... Hard Copy is not going to do a story on Marc Wallice. They haven't even talked to him."
Luke: "I've heard that they are considering a story on him. That they may not have talked to him... So? Marc is not necessarily an accurate source of information on himself."
Hampshire (annoyed): "Fine. I'm considering giving Marc my attorneys so he can go after you guys who've been slandering him."
Russ says that the Custodian of Records (Mark Henrickson) at the lab where Marc Wallice supposedly tested negative for HIV on an Elisa test, March 30, 1998, has validated Marc's test. That it is not a forged test. Russ then faxed me the certification document, signed by Henrickson 3/12 along with Wallice's 3/30/98 Elisa test.
According to the faxed copy of Marc's 3/30/98 Elisa test, at the Anonymous Program, NEVHC in Panorama City, 14860 Roscoe Bl., Suites 205/207, Marc Wallice, the testee, is a 49-year old FEMALE. That Marc is at least ten years younger and definitely a male casts doubts on the validity of this test. Also, the NEVHC has not been at the address listed on Marc's test for at least a year prior to 3/98, writes Kernes. The 3/30/98 test also contains a valid address for the clinic - 811 S. San Fernando Blvd, Burbank.
While Hampshire and AVN today thought that this release of Marc's 3/30/98 ELISA test and notarized signature of Mark Henrickson cleared Wallice of wrongdoing, other observers wonder who is the most stupid, incompetent and possibly evil - the clinic, Marc Wallice or Russ Hampshire?
The clinic for its obvious ineptness - describing Wallice on this controversial test as a 49-year old female, Wallice for his meandering defense and possible criminal behavior, and Russ Hampshire (a five out of five on Luke's Ethics Ranking) who devotes many of his resources to defending some questionable characters.
Luke did not discuss with Hampshire an HIV test that Marc Wallice had given VCA around 1997 that VCA refused to accept because it appeared that the test had been doctored (a date changed). Around the same time, Wallice was caught doctoring an HIV test for an Alex deRenzy shoot in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Russ: "The guy from the NEVHC came down here to certify that Marc's test (3/30/98) was valid. And I want you to put that on your site."
A source: "Just found out that Nena Cherry (aka Dawn Anderson) has a new site. It's www.brittanyshillington.com. I'm unable to veiw the site, it crashes my system. She is still working at massage parlors in Houston Texas. When we were on friendly terms she admitted to me she wasn't sure if she was Hiv+ or not. And being retested wasn't high on her list of things to do. She also told me she gets from $300 to $600 per hour for a session. I asked if she was "full service" and she denied it. Doom writes on RAME: "I have to give credit where it's due. I've been critical of AVN in the past... As an industry rag, their reporting usually tends toward fluff or toeing major advertiser's party lines (e.g. condoms.)
"It took them a year to chase down this story, but Mark Kernes got a fascinating interview with Marc Wallice (on geneross.com). To Kernes's credit, he pressed Wallice on issues where his account seemed to lack major credibility. The phantom clinic, Wallice's knowledge of his HIV status, and his high viral load so soon after a "clean" test were all brought up, and followed up on by Kernes. Kernes will supposedly get a copy of some of Wallice's questionable tests if he (Wallice) doesn't back out. If Kernes really digs and pursues the behind the scenes angle, he might end up with a hell of a story.
"For example, did K-Beech commission this shoot or not? What is Dan Beck's real role in this incident? Most porners in the San Fernando Valley are portraying him as a bad guy along with Wallice. Is he? Or, is he a convenient scapegoat to protect Kevin Beech? Did anyone monitor the guys' HIV-tests at the shoot? Who was suppposed to perform this task? Did Wallice fake his tests (it seems most likely)? Was Cash Markman responsible for more than he claims? Why did VCA hire Wallice? Does Russ 'Nature Boy' Hampshire have any motive to buy Wallice's silence?
"Sure, a year ago, Luke was the only one really chasing the story down, while AVN trailed him or remained silent. Better late than never, I guess. They seem to regard Luke as a serious threat, putting Gene Ross full-time on the internet beat and actually running down stories that could piss off some advertisers. We'll see how long their investigative bent lasts."

Most of their reviews are decidedly uncritical of the vast majority of crap pumped out by the video companies. Through interviews with
her friends, fellow students, one of her
university professors and many of her porn-business contemporaries,

see an emerging picture of a woman surrounded by contradictions. The
boundaries between Grace and Annabel seem blurred at best and in many
telling sequences, it becomes painfully obvious that Annabel is the
shield protecting Grace from a brutal world.

isn't always the best person to have guiding
your life. In one of many disturbing moments, a porn actor contends
that HIV paperwork was hardly enforced during the marathon sex shoot
that brought Grace to prominence. Questioned about the real
possibility of AIDS and dying, an indignant Chong brushes off the
threat flippantly--expressing little worry about consequence. This is
juxtaposed with her making the grueling trip to the health clinic to
get herself tested for HIV.
