6. Luke F-rd - If the only heel heat I considered was from porn industry members, Ford would easily be the most hated heel in the business. Nearly universally despised by porners for his 'reporting' and by AVN for stealing their thunder. Loved by the "smarts" (knowledgable fans) for exposing the unbelievable hypocracy, greed, and pettiness of the day-to-day operation of porn making.

Director Nic Cramer, who cleaned up at the 1999 AVN Awards, puts his name as co-screenwriter on two of his best movies (Looker and Intimate Strangers) entirely written by Martin Brimmer aka Rodger Jacobs (editor of New Rave). Looker won AVN awards this year for Best Film, Best Screenplay, Best Actress (Shanna McCullough), Best Editing... A former gossip writer at the trade magazine, Cramer's well-liked at AVN. I've heard he still contributes considerable gossip to Gene Ross and company but Ross totally denies this. "Since he's become a director," says Ross, "we've gone our separate ways."
Martin never had much of a problem with Nic claiming co-credit for things he didn't write until this month when Brimmer tried to collect the AVN Best Screenplay award for Looker that was rightfully his. Turns out Nic has it. Cramer told Brimmer, I hear, to call AVN and order a duplicate. - Five Alabama women are challenging a new state law that prohibits
the sale of vibrators and other sex toys, claiming it violates privacy
rights by indirectly prohibiting adults from engaging in legal acts
in their own bedrooms. The state, which argues such products are obscene,
contends there is no fundamental right "to purchase a product to use
in pursuit of having an orgasm." During a hearing Wednesday in federal
court, an attorney for the American Civil Liberties Union argued against
the ban. He said many sex therapists recommend sex toys for women who
cannot achieve orgasm without them, and intruding into the privacy of
bedrooms "is not the role of the government."
