Luke stopped by Reb's Pretty Girl International this afternoon with two British tabloid journalists in two (members of the Headline News operation who broke the Kendra Jade - Jerry Springer story).

I overhear Reb complain that manager Lucky Smith inflates the price of his girls because Lucky takes a healthy 25% cut. That Leanna Hart has had her nose broken twice by her boyfriend and her breasts, after several surgeries, are a mess. That Ian Daniels and Katie Gold have broken up. Reb wants them to work together Sunday.

Reb yells to his assistant Shylar: "Do you have Chloe's number? Have you called her? What about Johnny Black?"

Reb's casting 11 sex scenes for two pornos as well as for a mainstream movie. He's spent the past three days billing people.

Reb: "I've had a cold for three months. My sinuses are infected. Ears are infected."

His office is being renovated and repainted filling PGI with an acrid odor.

Reb: "The biggest deadbeat I have is [director] John Bone. He owes me $200. He had to pay my people cash. He just got me for non-payment. He didn't even give me a bad check. But he's given David Hardman bad checks and David's given them to a collector to collect for him.

"I don't let the companies get in deep [in debt]. Jim [South of World Modeling] lets them get into him for thousands but I won't. I can't afford to."

Sawitz gushes about his new talent. "Anastasia Wild stands 4'9, in her 30s [yo]. Older women are like fine wine... Beautiful body, nice face, very energetic. I have a great new blonde by the name of Camille St. Clair. And Lexi Bridges flies in Sunday. She's a dancer in Georgia. And I have 5'10" April Smith who's gothic-looking."

From the 2/3/99 Orlando Sentinel:
CASSELBERRY -- A topless club has lost its bid to keep employee
records private. U.S. District Judge Anne C. Conway ruled that a Casselberry law requiring strip clubs to keep employee files and make them available to city officials and law enforcement agencies does not violate
dancers' privacy or constitutional rights.

Conway said the ordinance "appears to constitute a narrowly tailored
means to further the city's important goals of crime prevention and
curtailing the spread of sexually transmitted diseases."

CINCINNATI (Reuters) - A judge Tuesday set a May 5 trial date for a
slander lawsuit filed by Hustler magazine publisher Larry Flynt
against a prosecutor for suggesting Flynt tried to bribe the family of
the key witness in his upcoming obscenity trial.

In the suit, Flynt claimed that former Hamilton County prosecutor Joe
Deters slandered him by insinuating that the Los Angeles-based
pornography publisher tried to bribe the family of the 14-year-old
witness.

AVN appears poised to take over the internet operation IA2000 and dramatically upgrade both its own website www.avn.com and its bimonthly internet magazine.

The rumor that distributor IVD will buy Extreme Associates is false.

It apears that John Bone and Cream have supplanted Rob Black as the porner's with the closest ties to pro wrestling. Cream girls Zoe and Kendra appeared on TV in the wrestling ring last week.

The "Nymphomaniac Ball" at CES that degenerated into a raunchy live sex show could lead to criminal charges for the nightclub owner, reports the 2/3/99 Las Vegas Review Journal.
Business License Director Ardel Jorgensen delivered a report (Tuesday to Clark County commissioners) on the events at Club Utopia during the Consumer Electronics Show. Commissioners then told Jorgensen to refer the case to the district attorney's office and to bring a recommendation on the fate of club owner David Cohen's liquor license.
The report claims 10 nude women and several male patrons f---ed while photographers snapped pictures. County special agent Jack Lundquist said he was deliberately prevented from entering the area to get a closer look at what was happening.
Lundquist's findings were so sexually graphic that Commissioner
Mary Kincaid asked Jorgensen not to read it aloud because the
commission meeting was being broadcast on live television.
Cohen, 28, stood in silence as commissioners railed at him for
allowing such events in an establishment not licensed for erotic dance
and for obstructing Lundquist's access. He was not asked questions and
was not given an opportunity to speak.
After the hearing, Cohen said he was stunned by the proceedings
and insisted Lundquist told him the night of the incident that only
two women and one man were involved.
This was his club's second "Nymphomaniac Ball," a party put on
for porn stars and scouts who attend the electronics conference for
the adult video industry's annual awards program. Cohen said the
untoward events were isolated and that with 1,800 customers he
couldn't control all his patrons.
"They're trying to make it sound like the club put on a live sex
show," Cohen said. "These women were customers of the club, and it
happened upstairs (on the club's second floor) in a corner of the
dance floor. They were not strippers, they were not employees of the
club, and it wasn't a sex party."
Jorgensen said her office is hearing more reports of public
orgies during major conventions like the Consumer Electronics Show and
Comdex.

Brett writes on RAME:

I just purchased three compilation tapes: Wet Video's Best of Desiree
Lane, and Best of Kim Carson, and Vivid's "Dominant Dames."

Let's start with the Desiree Lane video. The video consists of five
scenes from at most three of her films. In addition, it looks like each
of those three movies was filmed within a week or two of each other.
Desiree has the exact same haircut in each of them, and the sets look
the same. Desiree made 102 films in her career, and these three were
hardly her best work. The scenes are all lousy. Obviously Wet Video only
obtained the rights to use work she did for one production company. Was
this the company that charged the least? If so, that's a pretty strong
indicator that this wouldn't Desiree's best work. This tape isn't a
"Best of" compilation. It's false advertising.

The Kim Carson tape isn't much better. Like the Desiree Lane tape,
it runs a total of 50 minutes. It contains one hot scene, but the
editing is consistently terrible. Instead of showing the conversations
that leads up to the sex (yes, many of us like to see that) the editor
cuts right to the blow jobs. Kim was a very good actress, and I would
like to see how she seduced men, or was seduced by them. A trained
monkey with an editing machine could have done a better job.

Finally, we move to Vivid's "Dominant Dames." Please!!! This is
Vivid's idea of assertive women in control of the sex? With the
exception of one hot Ariel Knight/April West scene, the women on this
tape are as docile as lambs. Did the marketing people at Vivid who
decided to put out a "Dominant Dames" tape bother telling the person who
picks the scenes what "Dominant" implies, or are they just as unclear of
the concept? We're not talking about whips and chains here, just women
who know what they want, and know how to get it. As a recent post on
this newsgroup pointed out, a lot of us find that more stimulating than
watching actresses who are just there "to get laid and paid."

I'm in the process of compiling a real dominant women tape, with
the best work of Colleen Brennan, Sharon Mitchell, Ginger Lynn, Jeanna
Fine, Tianna, et al. Is it too much to ask that Vivid put the same time
and effort into their compilation as I am putting into mine? Clearly
there are several problems that lead to this lousy situation:

* First, the companies that put out these compilation tapes often
don't have access to an actress's best work.

* Second, either the companies don't care to do it the right way,
or are they aren't knowladgable enough to do it the right way.

* Finally, even if we could solve the first and second problems,
the industry doesn't even put out compilation tapes for most actresses.
They put out tapes for a few famous actresses, but not the ones I like.
Some of the best work in porn comes from obscure, unheralded actresses.
I think the fans all know that.

I'm open to all suggestions on how to solve this problem. Should fans
write complaint letters to the production companies? (Does that ever
work?) Should fans just make their own compilation tapes? I'm always
looking for suggestions for new compilation themes.

Poppedcherries@Hotmail.com writes on the newsgroup rec.arts.movies.erotica (RAME):

I have noticed recently that the leader in the most electrifying ripoffs in
adult entertainment today, Leisure Time and their www.sensations.com
subsidiaries, have been blantantly advertising on their boxcovers some taboo
type cum-ons. I am talking about these three titles in particular, "Banned
Perversions", "Just Legal Teens..", and "Sex on the Farm".

"Banned Perversions" has a woman squatting over a plate on a table as a man with a fork awaits her expulsion. The supposedly taboo expulsion is censored with some weird looking stars/symbols of some sort.

"Just Legal Teens..." well, there is teen (although it says legal) in the
title which I haven't seen on adult vids since the mid 80's. Even in the vids
of 1993-1996, like Cherry Poppers, Young and Anal, Young Girls Do, Hardcore Schoolgirls, Licorice Lollipops and others like it, they never put "teen" in the title.

"Sex on the Farm" has a horse on the cover with a woman, with words saying that they don't need pictures to sell this video and that it is so hardcore.

They have had "Young" in their titles for awhile also. The Zane's have also
realized that it is fine to release Cherry Poppers again. I was wondering why
the leader in ripoffs has more advertising balls than say, Max Hardcore
(please release your "Hardcore Schoolgirls" again and continue the series,
you are the master at it!),Jim Powers (for god sake it is safe to call it
Young and Anal again!, that YA sounds so stupid, even though the contents is bullseye perfect recently), CDI (College Girls Do, yes they are delicious but Young Girls Do taste even better!).

And damn the nearly 20 "teen" magazines now regularly on every newsstand
with all the young girl reference words (Babyface, Lollipops etc.) says it
all. It is acceptable again since the CPPA was ruled unconstitutional.
There are so many of them again that there are rows and rows of back issues in multi-paks jumping off the shelves around here. Why haven't more video companies done the same to cash in on this market? I am curious.

From Mike Ross:

Sacramento - Consumers of Adult Products claimed a victory today as Adult Entertainment Advocate Michael Ross awarded the Your A.L.E.R.T. Consumer Seal of Approval to various adult sex toys.

"Last year at this time, there were only 4 warranties in 19 products," Ross
said. "This year, 45% of the products had warranties, providing consumers
with a victory."

"The best vibrator chosen by testers in 1999 is called Hot Pinks by
Vibe-Tronics," Ross said. "The product that received the highest score was
Southern Lights by California Exotic Novelties."

The product testing program is designed to answer questions about the use of vibrators. To conduct the test, we hired "testers" who used the product in
our presence and were asked questions in an effort to determine the best
vibrator for under $25. The questions, with winners listed below, ranged
from "rate the products vibration to scoring the product's feel."
Additionally, we asked women what they look for when purchasing a
vibrator... Is it color, width, cost, feel or vibration? In total over 35
questions were asked and answered by the testers.

"When you purchase a car, you purchase something based on gas mileage vs. RPM's," The advocate said. "Isn't that also true when you're purchasing a vibrator?"

"According to all published accounts, the adult sex toy industry is a
multi-billion dollar business in America," Michael said. "Very few of the
products are tested because they are called novelty products, and that's
wrong. I wonder what the links between yeast infections, cervical cancer and other female related problems might arise from the use of unprotected
vibrators and sex toys."

According to Ross, "Now that we have compliance with the warranties, we need to work on increasing the quality of the warranties."

After compiling responses to questions that were asked and scored on a scale of 1 to 10 (10 was best) by the testers, Your A.L.E.R.T. determined the 1999 winners to be as follows: (only one item receives a seal of approval).

1) Best Overall Vibrator: (Chosen by Testers) - #20 Hot Pinks
(Vibe-Tronics) Chosen by points - #28 Southern Lights (California Exotic
Novelties)
2) Most Chosen Vibrator: (Tie) - #5 Jelly Passion (Golden Triangle) and #2
Hide-A-Vibe (California Exotic Novelties) respectively
3) Best Warranty: #32 Silent Partner (Phoenix International)
4) Best Packaging: (Based on total points) - #2 Hide A Vibe (California
Exotic Novelties) Based on the overall average - #15 Break-Away-Vibe (Ben Wa)
5) Longest Running Vibrator: #32 The Silent Partner (Phoenix International)
-1,050 minutes - Battery Size: AA
6) Best feeling vibrator: (Name) - #9 Glowing Teaser (Golden Triangle) -
#13 Jelly Flexible Plaything (Golden Triangle)
7) Vibrator that best fits testers needs: (Tied) - #18 Janine (Doc Johnson)
- #19 The Executive (Doc Johnson) - #27 Aerotech (California Exotic
Novelties)
8) Highest Scoring Vibrator: #28 Southern Lights (California Exotic
Novelties) scored 832 - Total Points
9) Lowest scoring vibrator: (Chosen by Testers) - #6 Blue Softee (California Exotic Novelties) was picked 3 times by the 9 testers as the #1 pick

This program was started by the Your A.L.E.R.T. Organization in an effort to provide consumer education on the products that they are purchasing and
using. Additionally, it is designed to save consumers money by providing
them with information that will allow them to tailor their purchases to meet
their exact needs, instead of having to purchase a product blindly.

"We will help consumers save money because now they have a place to go for information about the products they plan to purchase," Ross added. This
information can also be found on our website located at www.xxadvocate.com/vibrators

Josef Lowski translates Emmanuelle Richards profile of Luke F-rd in the 2/1/99 edition of the French daily Liberacion:

A journalist's website on the L.A. X-rated industry gets everybody hot.

By EMMANUELLE RICHARD
From Los Angeles

From his tiny Los Angeles flat, a young and reclusive journalist drops
on a web site some hush hush info with the effects of little bombs
getting the hot shots to swallow their cigars and swear in masses.
When referring to Luke F-rd, one may think of Matt Drudge, the
Hollywood's cyberhack famous for his tittle-tattle web site, which
unearthed the Lewinsky scandal. However, rather than an interest in the
White House's "you-know-who-is doing-you know-what", Luke F-rd tells all he knows about the American porn movie industry on www.l-keford.com.
"Without him, a bunch of information of the porn underworld would never
had been published", states Nick Ravo, a New York Times journalist and
author of articles on the X-rated industry.
Last year, Luke F-rd was responsible for a panic-stricken movement in
the L.A. porn industry as he revealed a sudden HIV propagation within
the closeted community (Liberation, Aug. 12, 1998).
The turmoil caused by these revelations encouraged around 40 porn movies
producers to sign a legal agreement to use condoms on stage. "Luke F-rd
was there to gather all the info he could on this crisis" says Nick Ravo
who considers : "He is just alike Matt Drudge, just weirder."
Installed in his bungalow crammed with porn-magazines and books on
Jewish theology, Ford willingly accepts to be compared with Drudge.
"Both of us are eccentric who are in the know, says this good looking
aussie, coolly dressed in jeans and sneakers. But I admit that we can be
wrong sometimes, for that is difficult to cross examine our sources".
Luke F-rd breaks all the rules of the business. He gives away the porn
stars real names, talks about the involvement of the Mob, exposes the
distress of an actor compelled to take Viagra to finish a shot or the
lot of a flat broke actress promoting her own death to boost her
fan-club
The web site, almost updated daily, re-enacts talks with breast-enhanced
starlets, pig-bellied producers and the gossips picked here and there in
the various web porn forums.
"A filthy blind pig". "Talk to me about this nark!" shouts Bill Margold,
a mustached vet actor nick named "Daddy Bear". "The talk groups (web
forums), it's Halloween : some forums packed with anonymous rotten swine
and cockroaches in hiding under idiotic nick names to better spread
their filth."
The veteran has talked to Luke F-rd over the phone, right before he
would hang up to him during last summer's "HIV crisis". The young
Australian confused the name of a beginner Hungarian actress
tested HIV positive, with another actress. He also was responsible for
posting a rumor according which the actor Marc Wallice was the zero
patient (the first AIDS case known), a week before he could get
confirmation of it. "Luke is like a blind pig, explains Bill Margold. He
unearths a good load of worms, and sometimes he finds truffles. In
Wallice*s case, he*s been lucky the rumor has proven to be founded."
There, Scoop Luke did not manage to get in touch with Marc Wallice, but
he cross examined several of his colleagues' accounts suspecting Marc
Wallice to hide the truth about his serological status.
"People are not the best source of information about themselves, defends
Luke F-rd. Porn stars are used to live in their own world, they're
seldom get in contact with journalists".

You will be a missionary, my son

As a child, Luke F-rd wanted to be a missionary, following his dad's
footsteps, a controversial evangelist in Australia. "Certainly because
of this, I was fascinated by pornographic materials, and, as a teenager,
I made great use of it in a blasphemous way, to calm myself down."
His family finally lands in California. When he is 21 year old, he finds
himself stricken by CFS (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome). He lays in bed for 6
years and convert himself to Judaism. It is while in Los Angeles that he
learns about Internet and makes the decision to write a book about the
porn industry. His web site is summing up years of research on the
American X-rated industry, he reports from film shootings, writes
biographies and contributes to the knowledge of caesarean performed on
actresses or the kosher menus of the Jewish in the business.

" A labor of love".
By always telling his tales with everybody who's somebody in the X biz,
Luke F-rd brings his fans along with him in this biosphere. "You would
just buy it, laughs Nick Ravo. As you read his lines, you clearly hear
the sniff of the coke inside the nostrils."
Mike Godwin, a member of Electronic Frontier Foundation (An Internet
defense group), likes the broadminded Luke F-rd: "Much on the contrary
to Drudge, Luke F-rd welcomes criticisms, and put them on his site.
Nobody else could gather so much information with so much heart. It*s a
labor or love." But, "Even thought the guy looks nice, Luke is really
gifted to spark controversial arguments", the bearded lawyer Jeffrey
Douglas, Director for the Freedom of speech coalition, (the professional
X-rated movies syndicate) is less enthusiastic. Martin Brimmer, a
script-writer for porn movies states :
"90 % of its content is very good, but Ford should distant a little bit
more from his sources to cross examine his info. And show respect to the
people in the business." According to Jeffrey Douglas, three quarters of
the industry American players have access to Internet.
A lot of them pay some visits to Luke F-rd's website. More than the
usual gossip, actresses can get some casual information such as what
producer signs rubber checks. As a matter of principle the lawyer doubts
all the information put on the site : "Luke has obsessions for the porn,
the Jews and the porn, and the Mob and the porn, which is absolutely
ridiculous, and he is hostile to most of the things he's obsessed with."
Contrary to Matt Drudge, Luke F-rd has not yet been brought to a court
room. He posts all the threat letters he gets on his free website. An
attempt to get the public to pay for the viewing was short lived when in
December his server was hacked and left stalled for 3 weeks. The site is
now hosted by a Canadian server and is kept running thanks to the $3,000
(around 17,000 french francs, be it 2,591 euro dollars) of monthly
revenues generated by the X-rated ads. Glued to his computer screen,
Luke F-rd is ambiguous as far as his position.
"What I do, looks sometimes satisfactory to me, sometimes just plain
pathetic. People are pointing fingers at me. I have been booted out of
my favorite synagogue. My relatives are furious, and so are my friends.
Lucky enough for me I have to observe the Sabbath : once in every week,
I just put the computer and the porn aside."
