In the 10/98 AVN, Gene Ross defends the porn industry in general, and Jim South, Sharon Mitchell and Marc Wallice in particular against charges of deadly ineptitude regards this year's HIV outbreak.

Gene fails to mention a thing Rob Spallone told him in their Spring interview. Although Ross has been reassuring Rob for months now that "it's a big article and I'm still working on it..." (or words to that effect), it's probably Gene yanking Rob's chain.

Ross details how South seems to view Marc as an adopted son, a father that the porn star never had. South tells AVN that he connived with Marc's mother to get him off pot, and that Wallice has "always been like a kid."

Many of Marc's peers, and numerous outside observers believe that the veteran porn star performed sex on camera for months knowing that he was HIV positive. Marc is widely viewed as the source of 1998's four other HIV infections.

From the 10/98 AVN:

Contrary to some of the more popular opinions out there about him [Wallice] shirking tests and hiding under rocks to avoid them, Wallice, both as a performer and a director, had been conforming to a health regimen by taking ELISA tests. Unfortunately, in light of recent developments on the HIV front, ELISAs have proven to be about as reliable as a condom with a bullet hole.

"Everyone agrees ELISA is not that great a test for this industry," says Sharon Mitchell… "ELISA tests the blood by anti-body. An anti-body can hide in a healthy person up to six months. PCR-DNA tests just for HIV inhibitors. It has a shortened window period."

…Wallice…has produced a series of negative test results. They've been issued from the Bio-Cypher Laboratories in Burbank and go back at least a year. The test results are neither doctored nor gorged…

."AIM will be a one-stop for services," she predicts. Now, if it would only help her stop smoking. Mitchell re-acquired the habit, blaming Luke F-rd, the Internet Torquemada and Wallice's chief prosecutor, as the man responsible for driving her back into the nurturing arms of nicotine. Much of it's due to the "slanderous" stuff Ford's been writing about her on his Website, according to Mitchell.

"There are these horrible things that have poured out of that site," Mitchell claims. "Things are being said about me being an active junkie. That hurts me very much. I was in drugs and alcohol for 16 years, and I'm proud of the fact that I'm three years clean and sober."

…She did not, Mitchell stresses, acquire her degree [she does not have a BA but says she is a certified by the state of CA as an HIV and drug dependency counselor. I have a friend who says the same thing, and that it took him 3 days to graduate a course to become "certified." I don't know if this is the same type of certification that Mitchell has.] from a 24 hour diploma mill as has been smugly stated on the Internet.

"This is something that's taken sevearl years of my life to get," she sighs, exasperation co-mingling with the cigarette smoke. Mitchell offers a litany: She claims the Internet has also labeled her a "dyke-bitch," a "thief," that she sucks Jim South's cock, has breached codes of ethics, ruined careers and divulged HIV results to news sources and Internet newsgroups. Mitchell denies all of the above.

…Nonetheless, before any of the Wallice DNA-RNA test results were made official, Luke F-rd and his band of Internet villagers gathered to light the torches. They mutually concluded that Frankstein Wallice was "Patient Zero" in what was suspected to be an elaborate HIV cover-up within the adult industry. [Sharon Mitchell first applied the term "patient zero" to Wallice in that Thursday, April 30 adult industry meeting.]

"I feel so bad for Marc," says Mitchell, who used to room with Wallice years ago. "This kid has been hit with an HIV-positive and has been accused of spreading this knowingly to other people. This [Ford's] is a criminal assumption."

[Luke: I've heard from sources that Mitchell has also seriously considered Wallice as the most likely source of the industry's HIV outbreak.]

In what's taken the proportions of an Agatha Christie whodunit, for starters, there's a 32-man gangbang that was staged in February invovling Wallice and fellow HIV+ mate Brooke Ashley. For all intents and purposes, this has been suggested as the logical scene of the crime. With the possible exception of Colonel Mustard in the library with a lead pipe, a number of high-profile suspects in the industry have been linked to a Nixonian conspiracy to fix everything but SAT scores. The select group includes Wallice, Mitchell, South and even Bill Margold, who heads the PAW organization.

"Luke F-rd just can't get it right," says Margold wearily, quite aware of Ford's active participation in the Wallice witch hunt. Margold candidly admits that he was the one who let Ford in the adult industry door in the first place, a decision he says he now regrets.

[Luke: Though Margold was my first major interview in the industry, not Bill not anybody "let me in the door." I'd been researching the industry for about five months before I talked to Bill and no one was going to shut me out. Bill was not initially a source of referrals to other people to interview though he was and has often served as a valuable and provocative source.]

South bristles at any suggestion of wholesale conspiracies.

"I was one of the original people who came up with the idea of getting people AIDS tests…

"The thing [Wallice's forged test in early 1996 or late 1995] stems from…when Wallice did a deRenzy shoot in San Francisco."

Wallice…claims that Luke F-rd has misquoted him by saying it was a VCA shoot. "I don't know where he got that," Wallice says. "I never told him that. He turned everything I said around."

***

The 10/98 AVN Gene Ross article marshals as much evidence as possible to show that Wallice did not know he had HIV.

It would be valuable to see the Bio-Cypher Laboratory ELISA tests of Marc's that Gene says are legitimate. The tests have different dates for Marc's age. Randy Munee, who checked the HIV tests on the Brooke Ashley gang bang, says that Marc's test looked like a copy of a copy of a copy.

Every time I interviewed Marc (four times), he was convinced that it was my reporting him on the Internet as HIV positive on 4/23/98 forced him to take a PCR DNA test which revealed him 4/29 as HIV positive and ruined his life.

A source: "Amid the industry BS the question looms: When was the last (before the test approval of outside notification) checkoff made. Did the labs store blood samples or if they didn't, why not? Who was lax and why? Anyway, I haven't heard anything about when Marc Wallice had his last licenced tester callback test..."

In the 10-98 AVN editorial, managing editor Mark Logan writes about truth. He mentions my report that some porn insiders suspect that the "unnaturally close relationship" between Gene Ross and Cream Entertainment's John Bowen signals among other things that Ross has a financial interest in Bowen's work. I have no hard evidence of this. My sources suspect that Ross has been a source of loans to John over the years.

Jasmine St. Clair and Charley Frey, who were intimates of Bone, say that John frequently boasted that he was about to bring Gene Ross on board and that they would "f--- Paul Fishbein up the ass." Jas and Charley also say that Ross is too smart to quit AVN for Bone and that they knew of no financial dealings between Bone and Ross.

Logan writes: "Recently, one of the Internet gossip mongers reported that our own Gene Ross was part-owner of Cream Entertainment. What a strange thing to claim. As I examine it, I begin to wonder, who is this particular tidbit aimed at? I know it's not true. Paul knows it's not true. Gene and John T. Bone certainly know it's not true. I even suspect that the writer himself knows it isn't true (and if he doesn't, he's a good deal less intelligent than I give him credit for being).

"Obviously, this rumor is aimed at those who don't know the truth, with the equally obvious intention of damaging the reputations of Gene, John, AVN, or all three. Luckily, those who don't know can't be bothered to examine the facts. If Gene is T. Bone's partner, he's done a lousy job of promoting the company. Since the beginning of the year Cream has gotten two magazine covers and one Editor's Choice. Of course, so has Arrow; so maybe Gene owns part of that company as well, not to mention the chunk he must own of VCA."

Logan talks about conspiracy theories. For the record, Luke F-rd is not a conspiracy buff. He does not believe in Gulf War Syndrome nor that the Warren Commission on the Kennedy assasination covered things up nor that WAG THE DOG is a documentary. Luke does believe that organized crime continues to play a significant role in the porn industry, as evidenced in the 1997 conviction of the owner of Metro (for dealing with the Mafia).

In January 1997, Metro owner Kenneth Guarino and Natale Richichi plead guilty to charges of conspiracy to defraud the government. Had the case proceeded to trial, the government said in the Memoranda of Plea Agreement that it would have presented evidence that Richichi is a "capo in the Gambino crime family of Cosa Nostra" and that Guarino made "tribute payments" to Richichi for protection of his multi-million dollar pornography empire against extortion attempts by other factions of the Mafia. By signing the agreements, Guarino and Richichi acknowledged that "each understood the factual basis for his plea.

"Unlike most [captains] who can only deal with the boss of their family through an adviser, and who would not be in a position to advise higher ranking members of other La Cosa Nostra families, Richichi has dealt directly with John Gotti…

"…He has also been intercepted providing extensive advice to Frank Salemme Jr., the boss of the New England La Cosa Nostra family. Richichi is also known to be highly respected by other La Cosa Nostra families and (captains) of various La Cosa Nostra families who reside in the Las Vegas area appear to give Richichi deference as well."

Ken paid Natalie Richichi, a confidante of John Gotti, and his son Salvatore $15,000 a month and laundered millions of dollars for them to prevent invasion of his porn empire, to get permission from the New England branch of Cosa Nostra to operate a precious metals business in the Northeast and to use their influence with union officials for favorable treatment.

In April 1997, Guarino was sentenced to 16 months in federal prison and fined $250,000.

Virtually all of the leading pornographers (from Russ Hampshire to Edward Wedelstedt to Melvin Kaminsky to David Sturman) are friendly with Guarino, a known partner with organized crime.

In late 1996, the editor of Hustler Erotic Video Guide, Michael Louis Albo, prepared a top 40 list of the most powerful pornographers. When video company owners found out they contacted leaders of Larry Flynt Publications and had the article quashed. Albo was almost fired. Leading pornographers feared that the list (essentially mirrored in my list of a few days ago) would give federal prosecutors valuable information about who to pursue.

A source: "MTV's True Life show "I Am a Porn Star". I heard from a good source that the reason the repeats were pulled were under threat of legal action, concerning some of the errors in the show. I understand someone knowledgable complained about the way certain parties were portrayed in the show (possibly Jim South being allowed to use the show to promote his agency). Also, I've heard that there was a request for "equal time". Rather than face the possibility of compounding their problem, MTV must have decided to not re-air the show. Why would an MTV exec say they were the ones that pulled it?...easy, trying to save face and to avoid admitting any wrong. Make it look like it was their choice. I've had dealings with TV weasels, they'd rather disembowel themselves rather than admit they made even a slight error."

Arch Stanton writes on the newsgroup alt.cult.movies-erotica:

I just visited Luke's site and in light of all the recent turmoil here concerning cancelled posts and real names I discovered something of interest. BTW, Luke's site, while very bland (no snazzy animation) has a world of information on many porno stars as well as others connected with the business. Anyway, I clicked on the name Brandy Alexander to see what lies behind the legend. Three points of interest:

1) Brandy didn't like Pauly Shore but gave him a blowjob because her friend liked him but Pauly liked Brandy.

2) Brandy lived with Papa Margold for a time. What's up with that?

3) The pertinent point to the post. From Lukes site: (copyright permission from Luke F-rd Enterprise Ltd)

> Brandy lives alone with her computer and her furry Siamese cat Kamikaze. "I can't cook, I'm a lousy housekeeper and I watch too much TV," she says. "I spend too much time on the internet." She posts her views at such newsgroups as misc.writing and rec.arts.movies.erotica, frequently revealing the real names of porn stars she dislikes. Using the email address of otrprod@primenet.com, she posted to alt.sex.movies on 8-11-95, this list of porn stars' real names. "Sam Weston [Anthony Spinelli], Andy Abrams [Randy West], Mark Arnold [Ed Powers],   Ed DeRue (sic) [Ed DeRoo], Greg Deutschle, John Nuzo [John Leslie], Joseph Nascivera, Tom Taliaferro [Tom Byron], Ron Hyatt [Ron Jeremy], Al Brown [Peter North], Jeremy Hapner, Chet Anuzak, Steve Nadelman, Bernie Cohen [David Christopher], Jim Souter [Jim South], Bob Durkin, Richard Parnes, Charles Allen, Randy Potes [Cal Jammer], Barry Wood, Dennis Kruggel, Skip Stokie, Axel Horn, Rob Everett [Eric Edwards], Ken Hurt, Adam Glaser [Seymore Butts]…"

Now, my obvious question to Brandy is, IF this is true, if you are so upset about people revealing YOUR name resulting in cancellations of posts, how can you justify the above? Do you believe that now anyone of these individuals can come here and cancel your posts with good reason? Did you commit this heinous crime? Please tell me if the above is just a lie. My inclination is to believe it's all bulls---. How could anyone so sensitive to the real-name issue turn around and do this? Luke has a lot of balls publishing lies like this. He definitely owes you an apology.

Jimmymac replies:

Brandy posted the names of people, but didn't mention porn names or that they even were working in porn. The porn names (conveniently placed next to real names) are Luke's addition. Technically, what Luke is quoting isn't what she said. Then again, Luke never claims to get quotes correctly!

Considering Brandy's response to that reporter who recently tried to track down Viper (who didn't want to be tracked down) and other similar comments, I think this is an area where she's been pretty consistent. Say what you want about her, but I don't think she'd want anyone's real name (even Bianca Trump's or Bill Margold's) made known to the world.

The real names issue is a sore spot. Porn attracts it's share of weirdos and making it easier for those weirdos to get close to the "object" they are obsessed with is a bad idea.

Arch, considering Luke's rep on this kind of thing I'm surprised you would copy and paste this junk. Luke has made it clear that he doesn't care how stars feel about having their names published. Luke has said that he has at least 6 people listed on his site who do not want their real names posted, but he feels the names are public knowledge so he doesn't care that they object. Brandy is one of them, her name isn't public knowledge,he just doesn't like her (another reason to look carefully at Luke's story).

I'm wondering if the other five are stars also on Luke's s--- list. My feeling is that if a name was given in a story (with or without the star's consent) that someone would still have to track that article down. Luke's page just makes it easy for people to learn information they don't need to know.

Brandy Alexandre replies:

Indeed, I made a post that contained real names. But that's ALL it contained. During a previous "real names" thread I posted a couple of articles pointing out the difference between the reaction to men in the industry vs the women, they difficulties they face on the outside being different, etc. Just to "tweak" at those who salivate over real names as if it was something they have a RIGHT to know, I posted an article with a subject line something like "Here are some real names!" and in it was contained just that. There were no porn counterparts.

As you could see from Luke's article, the porn names were bracketed, which among real writers (so I'm surprised Luke thought to do this) indicates that anything between the brackets is contributed by the writer or is inserted in the interest of clarity if a statement is taken out of context.

I made it a point to only put in men's names because of the earlier statement about how they can get away with having been sluts. Seems Luke's intent was clearly played out on you. He's manipulated you thoroughly.

A provocative thread on the rec.arts.movies.erotica newsgroup says the videos of my buddy Ed Powers (sorry Ed!) has declined. David Williams writes:

Ed's problem is that he thinks people want to see Ed! And he's forgotten the formula that made them so great--and they were--originally.

I quit watching his crap about 25 episodes ago. And that's what it is now: crap! The last 3 or so that I did see were essentially the same: only four scenes, markedly lack of facials, and at some point in the tape there's dweeb Ed's face looking at you droning on and on about whatever for about ten or fifteen minutes. It's ridiculous when you're 45 into a tape and still no sex! The heads on my VCR will never recover from all that fast-forwarding.

It's sad because the DD series used to be so good; personally, my favorite was the one with Tabitha Cash on the cover. I'm sure he's living well now, but he'd better have some money in the bank because soon he's not going to be able to GIVE his s--- away.

Ed Powers--July 2005: Taco Bell Crew Leader of the Month. Would you like something to drink with that sir?

Arch Stanton: The DD series was groundbreaking when it first came out. (along with Bus Stop Tales) But the series went stale long long ago and Ed has refused to change with the times. His huge ego won't allow him to hand the mantle over to someone else. He apparently won't change the format and he just recently lost his able sidekick Jake. Ed is like the Boston Celtics. Once a champion now a has-been loser.

Nog:

MDD videos have definitely gone downhill, and I think that the main  reason is because of Ed Powers miserable temper. s---, he's f---ing some of the cutest and hottest girls on the planet, you would think that he would be the happiest human on earth. But nooooooooooo. All that he does anymore is f---ING BITCH and complain to the camera person and berate him or her because they are not getting the shot that the megalomaniac Ed demands. MDD 87 and 88 are almost unwatchable because all that Ed does is bitch and moan at the camera person. I've been watching his videos for years and all of the scenes look fine to me, so I wish Ed would just shut the hell up, or better yet let someone else do the f---in'.

Noelfr:

I just saw DD#89, and I have to honestly admit he continues with this stupid behavior to the point of interrupting the flow of the scene. He actually had the audacity to display a hand written note to the camera man as he was taking his shot to "focus" followed by a put down. As if to make up for it, he then super imposes a caption to say it's all in jest and he really does appreciate the work of his camera man. Bull Sh*t!

I honestly take this as another example of "little" Ed's ego. For the infinite time (AGAIN!), he asks the first three deb's if they're attracted to older men, etc. Can't he just give it up? They're not there because of HIM, it's all about " Show me the money".

Lastly, the store I rent my videos at had something for sale that caught my eye. Ed Powers has put out a dildo for sale! On the cover is him with four relatively attractive women all looking at him with approval and desire. Why does Ed even believe he is even remotely attractive?

Challenge to Ed: Quit paying women to appear on your videos, let's see how the quality of the women changes. Let's see how many of them continue to appear simply because you're such a hunk and they want to go to bed with you.

Dult: If all you people would just quit renting/buying his movies you'd be amazed at how fast he'd go away. You can't tell me there's a shortage of porn out there and you're forced to buy his product. Let the market forces decide.

DC818:

Ed Powers' BEST work has been his LAST 20 or so tapes. #89 and #90 were AWSOME! My video store keeps the MDD series in stock, and aways with the latest video possible. I hope Ed NEVER changes his format! It works like a charm. No cheesy setting, horrible scripts, or dopey rehearsed dialogue like 99% of porn. Who the f--- cares if he is overwieght or has dry humor! He always has the BEST looking girls who are first timers!

I don't buy the tapes to look at Ed, and I don't give a rat's ass if he has a big ego! I don't live with the guy, so why the f--- should I care?

Long live the three kings of porn: Ed Powers, Mike South, Dave Cummings

Opherian@aol.com: "The Rabbi Stiffkugel recognizes that there is a sub-group of fetishists who like to see grannies getting plugged. Tho he is somewhat mystified at exactly what the attraction is for this kind of thing, perhaps Dave Cummings and Ed Powers, should they insist on continuing to perform, could evolve in this direction. Matronly Dithering Debutantes ("MDD") might be an ideal product line."
