Matt Zane's girlfriend Kristin appears HIV negative.

AIM (the Adult Industry Medical clinic run out of Jim South's World Modeling building) sent out faxes on Friday, 7/17, and Monday, 7/20, that Kristin had tested positive, and that 16 performers were under quarantine.

On Monday afternoon, 7/27, I heard from sources at the North Hollywood clinic that Kristin was HIV negative. The clinic at 12910 Victory Blvd, North Hollywood, 91606 (818-760-2349) has run numerous tests on Kristin, including three Western Blots and two PCR/DNAs which all report her HIV negative.

A doctor from the North Hollywood clinic counseled Kristin for several hours. The girl was suicidal. Her girlfriend Militia stood outside the PAW/AIM clinic for hours Monday 7/27, counseling her peers to not go there.

Due to the AIM quarantine, Militia lost $10,000 worth of work.

A longtime critic of PAW/AIM/FSC, talent agent Rob Spallone, plans to offer Kristin a good lawyer to sue AIM for defamation of character.

"I'm going public with everything," says Rob. "AIM ruined this girl's life. AIM does not know what they are doing. If they are in it for the health of the talent, why do they charge $95 for the DNA test when it costs them $64?
"AIM gave out privileged information. The girl freaked out.

"I'm about to call Cal-OSHA (Occupational Standards and Health Administration?) and the health department..."

This is the latest and biggest in a series of scandals at PAW which is operated by the Free Speech Coalition. AIM supposedly replaced PAW over a week ago, though its location and employees remain the same.

AIM is supposedly independent of the FSC, and wants to keep itself out of industry politics.

Sharon Mitchell is on vacation through August First. Numerous observers question whether her pet project AIM will recover from this huge mistake. Mitchell reportedly told MTV that Kristin was HIV positive.

From AIM's perspective, the place is doing its job. If a performer tests "detected" for HIV, then it is AIM's job to get out the word. "We're trying to keep the industry healthy," said a source close to AIM. "We're not trying to hurt anybody.

"I know there is a battle going on between Jim South and Spallone. That's not what we're about. We're there for the talent.

"The entire purpose of AIM organization is to assist talent with a mandatory testing police and take precautions that are necessary in the adult industry to keep talent safe, not to cause people to lose money. When a test comes back detected by PCR/DNA the individual is notified of the results and counseled as to what else must be done, a genealogy list, mainly more tests to determine if the first test was a false positive. The procedure calls for a RNA and a Western Blot as soon as we get a detected result another test PCR/DNA should be taken at least a week after the detected result was obtained. If there are still inconclusive results another test is to be done at least one week after the latest one. In Kristin's case the RNA and the Western Blot were inconclusive but she did not take another PCR/DNA with AIM or bring in a non detected PCR/DNA to AIM. The Adult Industry Medical testing sight is run out of the same building as Jim South's office for now until they find a new home. AIM did not claim Kristen was HIV positive, but that she had a detected result. What they did next is exactly what it was designed to do notify the correct Industry people, do a background and create a quarantine list. This is not done for any reason except to protect and to be cautious just in case. Maybe that test was a false positive we all hope it is, but even with that should AIM handle the next situation differently? Not at all, there is no confirmation other than Mr. Ford's sources that Sharon Mitchell told MTV or anyone else that Kristen was HIV positive and since she is not here to speak on this issue we will leave it at that. Rob Spallone with his North Hollywood clinic is a businessman and a businessman would be a long time critic of its competition and should be to be successful, it's only natural.

"If AIM were the first clinic to have a false positive result I would say the criticism was warranted, under the circumstances I cannot agree with it. We all have our big scandals, for the most part we try to keep them quiet."

Matt Zane told AVN: "We just got her first ultrasensitive supersensitive quantitative RNA-DNA test back yesterday, and it came back completely negative.

"This was after another two ELISAs came back negative. An RNA came back negative. A Western Blot has come back negative.

"How did we get the idea that Kristen was HIV-positive in the first place? We did get a positive [PCR-DNA] test from the P.A.W. office. It was wrong. The doctor from the P.A.W. office was saying, I'm very perplexed right now, because the RNA is negative, the Western Blot is negative. It seems as if it's too early to detect it in her system. So I said, That's not very good, it seems like she just got it.

"Obviously, me being very skeptical, I went to a leading doctor's office/AIDS clinic in Beverly Hills. This place cost me $1000 for both of us.

"[Kristen's] blood tests cost $700. Serious, serious testing. I talked to the doctor about [adult] industry standards and what happened, and he says this test is going to detect if there's even one iota of the HIV virus or strand within her system. Meanwhile, the two ELISAs came up negative, as they normally do the RNA came up negative the Western Blot came up negative... and then we get a call from the doctor yesterday and he says, There's absolutely no trace of it that I can find within her system. As of this point, we don't need to be talking any more, because this is the test that we use to gauge whether it is anywhere in the system.' He said, That test you got was a false positive.

"Since it was a different test from the one the industry's used to, I went and had her take another test at Hollywood. Obviously I did not go back to the P.A.W. office." (AVN)

More than 15 years after it shocked America, the AIDS epidemic has finally panicked the heterosexual adult-film industry. As one porn vet noted, “Recess is over in the playpen of the damned.”

The multibillion-dollar industry is changing its business plan as a result of five porn stars testing HIV-positive since January. The HIV scare is making producers of straight porn do what many of their gay counterparts began years ago: making “condoms-only” sex videos, which will affect a business that saw roughly 7,000 titles released last year.

“We are a condom-only company,” said Vivid Video president Steven Hirsch, referring to Vivid’s production policy that started in April.

“All performers, all men, are wearing condoms. We are no longer going to allow the performer to make the decisions as to whether condoms are allowed or not used.”

Hirsch said he and other pornmakers have economic concerns, but, “the distributors are fully supportive of our decision. Certainly you’re always concerned when you try something different, but at this point you’re talking about performers’ lives and we just won’t take that chance.”

Joe Spallone is in Sacramento, huddling with Mike Ross and checking out new talent.
