Jeff Mike Busted For Obscenity At Legend - Reminds Sunlove Of Nazi Germany

I heard a ton of cops went to Legend and to Jeff Mike's (aka Jeff Steward) house to bust him for pissing tapes.

AVN reports:

Steward said members of the LAPD's organized crime and vice division stopped his car a few blocks from his home - "they were waiting for me" - and armed with the search warrant, searched his vehicle, his residence and later his office at Legend Video's headquarters in Chatsworth. Police also stopped and searched a separate vehicle containing Steward's wife and the couple's 15-year-old son, Steward said. Police seized three copies each of American Bukkake 11 and Liquid Gold 5 from Steward's office, he said.

Kat Sunlove, lobbyist with the Free Speech Coalition, says the type of material seized is an attractive target because it would have the least public support because of the appeal of the videos is within a specialized group, rather than within the mainstream of adult consumers. "It's very distressing," she adds. "I think it's the start of much more on both the local and federal level. I'm reminded of Nazi Germany -- I really am. It's very sad."

Video companies, such as Vivid and Wicked that produce titles that are more acceptable to the mainstream public will probably not be held to the same scrutiny, she adds. "This operates in a social context, so the police can only do those things for which they perceive they have public support," Sunlove says. "They would not have public support of they started busting Veronica Hart's titles." The end result, predicts Sunlove, will be a chilling effect over the industry, with production of such titles being stopped.

Luke says: The chilling parallels of an obscenity bust against a producer of urination and bukkake tapes and the murder of six million European Jews should be obvious to any loyal reader of LF.com. Given the large number of Jews in porn, it is time that we ask - is a war against porn necessarily a war against the Jews?

Jeff Steward is the man behind the creation of Kid Vegas.

South1226: american bukkake is hugely popular
South1226: it could go away forever
South1226: legend is scary about that s--- anyway...remember they got scared of Max Hardcore and let him walk

Jeff Steward told GeneRossExtreme.com: "Then they followed me over to Legend because this is where the videos are. I told them I'm cooperating so I gave them three copies each and all the model releases for those videos. That's all they wanted. I guess they're going to see if they can build some kind of a case. I was explaining to them we're business people, we don't have to be treated like f---ing criminals. I didn't commit a murder. I shipped a video. They didn't have to put me in the back of a squad car to take me home. They didn't have to embarrass me in front of my neighbors. They had 30 officers at my house. There were 20 at Legend. As I explained to them there was somebody probably being killed down the f---ing street but, instead of paying attention to that, they were at my house petting my cat and looking at my furnishings.

"In case any mail order company out there is shipping this individual, this is the name and address of the person who set me up: Steven Peterson, 2272 Colorado Blvd., #1102, Los Angeles Ca."

Lynne writes: Hey, Lukey, now that you're reporting on location again, why not swing by and tell us whether that's a legit address or not? Is it a mail drop? A precinct house?

Extreme Associates owner Rob Black says: "As the day went on and the Steven Peterson/LAPD/ Legend sting unfolded before our very eyes, we were saddened to hear the news. Suffice to say, it brought a rise of suspicion in our own quarters. That name seemed very familiar. On further review we went through our mail order department and discovered that, yes, Extreme Associates had shipped Steven Peterson at the exact same address and credit card# through our website. Much to our amazement we discovered we had shipped Peterson a video. But not ANY video. Not just some run-of-the-mill video. We shipped Steven Peterson one of the greatest porn movies ever made and that this business has ever seen-- a movie that's titled In Days of Whore: The Director's Cut."

Review Of The Gorgeous Allison Kilgore

WriterMan writes on BigDoggie.net: I met with Allison last night in NYC and had an absolutely wonderful time. Allison has that natural girl next door look, if the girl next door who is totally gorgeous with a body to die for. Those magnificent boobs are just awesome. Allison has some nice pics posted but they don't do her justice. She is much more beautiful in the flesh. She is also a great girl to spend time with; funny, intelligent, bright. Just a real delight to be around. From a fun point of view I'm running out of superlatives. Wow!, Holy Moly!, Karamba! No details but I left with a very big smile on my face. She's a true 10 in the looks department and a true 10 performance wise as well. I was a big fan to begin with but now she has an ardent admirer. She's here for the week Dudes, so you'll need to be quick in making a date with her. I'm going to try and see her again on Friday night if I can. Thanks Allison, you were awesome.

Nikki Charm writes: Hey Luke, I forgot to send you the photo attachment for your readers to judge for themselves how "sad" and "pushing 40" I am. Here it is if you want it. It is a recent one from "No Man's Land #30" which is available through Video Team.

Porn King Flynt Seeks Dirt On President Bush

CANNES, France, May 16 (Reuters) - Porn king Larry Flynt admitted on Wednesday he was hunting for dirt on U.S. President George W. Bush, but was struggling against a wall of silence in the president's home state, Texas.

Flynt, who publishes the hardcore sex magazine Hustler, fears the Bush administration will try to gag the pornography industry, which thrived during Bill Clinton's eight year rule.

Flynt, a staunch Democrat and scathing critic of Bush, said he was looking to sniff out scandals from the president's past despite some stiff resistance.

Too Small For Porno?

Reuters reports: Think the screens of such devices are too small, the resolution too poor, to deliver a medium that is largely about visual gratification?

Some think not. A number of sites, like SexWaps.com, offer a collection of adult photos for the entertainment of commuters on the go. And many more have found nonvisual ways to titillate or amuse their audiences. "It is pretty funny what some of them do," said Jackie Peterson, spokeswoman for Cellmania, which publishes a worldwide directory for mobile Internet services.

Cellmania has located a wireless directory of people interested in having phone sex, a site that publishes a "position of the week" complete with a level of difficulty, plenty of sites publishing traditional erotica, and even a "prostitute finder" in the U.K. that lets you search by region and physical preferences, and read "field reports" from prior customers.

The hope, of course, is that adult content will do for the wireless industry what it did years ago for the early Internet -- and before that for the video rental market. Some time before consumers turned to those technologies en masse, consumers of porn became early adopters, drawn by the convenience and discreteness of services that could be delivered at home.

Are those same people now craving nude photos and the likes on city buses and board room meetings? Penthouse Magazine has seen enough interest to give it a try. The publication next month will begin offering content such as centerfold photos over hand-held devices. "There is a huge demand," said a spokesman for Penthouse. "People are saying that now they will be able to take Penthouse to the beach. Yes, I know they've always been able to take Penthouse to the beach, but this way it is a lot more discreet."

Other companies are taking the restaurant-finder model, often cited as an ideal service for the consumer on the run, and applying it to tastes that are a bit seamier than fine French food. Erotigo.com -- a company with the fitting slogan "sex in the palm of your hand" -- recently introduced its Erotiguide, a wireless directory of all the sexiest venues in New York City, including strip clubs, video stores and lingerie stores. The company is providing the guide for free, mainly as a promotional tool, but is seeking partnerships with other adult content providers.

Luke Gets Mail

Tony writes: I READ ON YOUR SITE THAT NIKKI CHARM WAS APPEARING AT MOONLIGHT BUNNY RANCH . I CALLED THERE AND THE WOMAN WHO ANSWERED HAS NO RECORD OF HER THERE OR COMING THERE SO GTET THE FACTS STRAIGHT.

Porn star Ruby writes: Luke, Tell Mr. Stupid Porner that it's not a shame that Nikki Charm is working with me at the ranch!! She looks f---ing phenomenal, she was pissed that she got a warped image of this place from certain people who don't know what the f--- they're talking about!! Like Mister" I'm a whore and don't know it." He or She doesn't even have the NUTS to let you use their name, what a pussy!

MikeSouth.com writes: hey Lukey, It appears Tod isn't afraid of Allan, he ran the entire response, and I have gotten nothing but positive feedback on it. It appears tod-hunter.com is starting to show some political balls. In between the press releases from Digital Playground and the self serving PR from directors reviewing their own movies and drones about President Bush something good slips in more and more.

Goddess writes: Has anyone else noticed the unholy alliance that has been formed between Mike South, Lynne and Brandy over this FSC thing? Now that they've crawled into bed together, anyone wanna place bets on how long the "cuddling" will last?

BrandyAlx1: Tell Goddess that's it's not an unholy alliance, it's a surprising turn of events that has three people with three entirely different points of view on a number of subjects coming to exactly the same conclusion about the FSC. More frightening than any possible alliance, it's demonstative of logical substance to the criticism.

Brandy Alexandre writes: More info than anyone cares to know, but today is the 20th anniversary of the loss of my virginity. ;) Whee!

BrandyAlx1: It was a birthday present for my boyfriend's 30th birthday
BrandyAlx1: No pictures of Britt Morgan? I thought everyone you went out with had to consent to bad digitals on your site.

BrandyAlx1: My orange fake tan I mentioned on Berkowitz has finally settled down to mostly real looking.

BrandyAlx1: I had an interview yesterday that I blew off. It was for one of the bigger billing companies for phone and internet sex. Perfectly legit position as an executive secretary, but I just decided I didn't want to deal with that kind of business anymore. They usually don't have very high ethical standards.

BrandyAlx1: Plus, she instructed me on how to come in the rear entrance of the building, and I thought maybe the was construction or something going on. But when I passed by the front of the building, it was a perfectly functional door and offices, but there was a sign that people for this particular company had to enter through the back. What's up with that? I just don't need it. Besides, in the back I would have had to run a gauntlet of smokers standing just outside the door. Wouldn't want to have to do that everyday, much less be treated second class just because of the company I work for. I just turned around and drove home.

Luke Dines With Britt Morgan

I am going to dinner with ex-porn star Britt Morgan. Do you have any questions for her?

Mark writes: Ask her if she escorts, I would love to rent her for about 30 min.

Fred writes: 1. Find out her educational background. Any college? What fields of study?

Britt Morgan replies: Sociology BA - CSURiverside

2. What she was doing during her hiatus from porn? Was she employed? Was her spouse a "sugar-daddy"?

Britt Morgan replies: Married. No, he was a spouse.

3. Any regrets about porn?

Britt Morgan replies: None whatsoever. The business was extremely good to me and I made wonderful dear friends who are my closest still to date.

4. During her porn career, did she ever wind up doing things she didn't want to do?

Britt Morgan replies: Never, what would be the point in that exactly? I did what I wanted with who I wanted when I wanted. I did it because it was fun and these people were my friends. I never worked with people I would not otherwise associate with outside of the 'job'.

5. During her career, she "wrote" some of her videos. How did she go about judging what she thought guys would want to see her do? Did she rely on Jace for input on that? How much of what she did was based on a) what she felt like doing; or b) what she thought she would like to see in a porn video?

Britt Morgan replies: (And produced and directed: Great Brittan Motion Pictures......) Most definately, his input was regarded most highly; we discussed and debated many topics and always tried to find a happy medium that met the 'nasty' scale for tha' boyz and the 'horny' scale for tha' girlz.

A lot of what I did was for the sake of personal discovery of some sort - personal fantasies and/or scenarios played out in a safe and controlled environment, sometimes being explored enough within that context to put it to rest, and then sometimes triggering a desire to take it further on a more private level outside of the 'safety net', having tested it first within.

6. Has she ever done it with a patent attorney? If not, would it be accurate to say that this is the one great thing she's missed in life?

Britt Morgan replies: I am sad for me, I suppose......? haha

7. What's she doing for a living now? What's she planning on doing next?

Britt Morgan replies: I do set design/construction - some A.D. work for a select few producers, and just finished as script supervisor on a mainstream. And as for 'next' - this is my next right now; I'm in the midst of a fairly painless divorce, although a 10-year term nonetheless, and am just taking it easy and enjoying being alive again. I have a jacuzzi, couple of overly devoted hounds, a magical cat sent to me as a gift from beyond, an uncorrupted sense of delight and a local Sav-On that carries MGD. I complain not. Life is very very good.

8. Has she ever done it with an orthodox Jewish Australian porn journalist? Isn't this the one experience she believes she's been missing in life?

Britt Morgan replies: I thought #6 was the one great thing I had somehow missed in my life? Have I truly missed ALL this too?

9. What fashion advice does she have for Luke F-rd?

Britt Morgan replies: He didn't get thrown out of the restaurant we were eating at and he fit in perfectly well with the other diners there. I was not at all embarassed.

10. What advice does she have to assist Luke F-rd in scoring?

Britt Morgan replies: Nina who? Hartley? if so, my advice would be: ask her.

11. What does she think are the most interesting things about her?

Britt Morgan replies: It varies. But probably the most -#1. I don't care. and - #2. I have no fear.

Jason Sechrest writes: No questions for her... I'm sure she'll be the one grilling you most of the evening, actually. Tell her I love her!

Lynne L-patin writes: So does Britt have real breasts or not? If she does, do they sag or not? If she has implants, then of course she doesn't need a bra. Not that I'm judging her, mind you, but the point of wearing a bra is that real breasts often sag as we get older, have babies, etc. Big real breasts do all sorts of funny things in clothes if they aren't harnessed in place. If, like me, Britt has been fortunate enough to escape this fate, bless her... If she's saying she prefers artificial breasts because they eliminate the need for brassieres...that's different...

Mafia Controlling Nevada Prostitution?

As the operator of one of the city's oldest in-room adult entertainment services, Munoz knows Vegas is a town fuelled by the unceasing buzz of money and vice. When he was at the top of his game his phones rang 100 times a day, and he dispatched private nude "dancers" (prostitution is illegal in Las Vegas) to the hotels along the Strip fifteen to twenty times a night, raking in, he says, $240,000 a year in referral fees. That's not the secret.

The secret, Munoz says, lies in the hundreds of miles of modern glass fiber and aging copper wire buried beneath the town's sun-baked streets, and in the dozens of digital switches that speed data and voice from one end of the Strip to the other. Munoz believes that for a decade a shadowy cabal of criminals, corrupt insiders and professional hackers has had an illicit stranglehold on Vegas cyberspace, and all but muscled him out of the adult entertainment industry by selectively blocking, tapping and rerouting the telephone lines crucial to the outcall biz.

"In this business, you receive your calls from 5:00 in the afternoon until 5:00 in the morning, and that's when they hit us," says Munoz. "It's like you're the Maytag man. The phone will not ring."

Nina Hartley Gossip

Luke F-rd Live

Whack Shacks In Los Angeles?

Sarah writes: I was just going through adultstaffing.com's job listings looking for a whack shack in the Los Angeles area, but all to no avail... when I thought who the f--- will tell me like it is already gawd damn it!? And Luke F-rd came to mind. :) So I'm writing you to ask if you know of any private lingerie modeling establishments in LA? Oh I'm female btw & the most I've made at a whack shack is a grand in an 8 hour shift.

Axle writes: Is the Paris House on Santa Monica in West Hollywood considered a 'wack shack'? I believe it says 'Private Modeling' on either their outside sign or print ads.

JRob writes: As I understand it, Luke's hovel is the local "whack shack" (though he won't admit it).

Is Dane Down The Toilet?

A few days ago, Patrick Riley wrote on RAME: "Based on the last couple from Dane, they're down the toilet..."

Steve Seidman writes: "Patrick I love some of your reviews but the latest comments on the Extreme line make me laugh. Dane to me still puts out some of the best vignettes in the business quality with good plots and some of the fresh new talent in porn is there. Ass-Hole Andy can be quite obnoxious but that's the point and is one of the more enjoyable series put out. Agreed Extreme does over use some of its ladies but they seem to get some of the fresher girls. Once again as I've reviewed many times Dane is one of the best and Don Marque works his butt off to get some of the best plots in the business."

Luke says: Tuesday afternoon I spoke by phone Edward C. in the financial department at Dane who took exception to Pat Riley's comments.

Ed: "We don't look at this stuff [internet gossip]. We're too busy. But where do you get your information? Do you view our movies?"

Luke: "I just collect stuff from various internet newsgroups... I don't watch the movies."

Ed: "You and me are in the same boat. I've seen a feature and a clip here and there but I've never watched a whole movie. I'm not a pervert either. Please.

"I don't know who this Mr. Riley is, but if you look at the latest AVN (page 136 of the May issue), we just got the Spotlight Pick (for the series "19", volume 38. So I guess we're not that bad.

"We've never had a Spotlight Pick. And we're not a heavy advertiser in AVN. We don't advertise ten pages a month so they feel they have to give it.

"I don't read AVN. Just somebody called me and showed it to me.

"Cable buys about everything we make. If you break down our scenes between dialogue and sex, we're a minimum of 60% dialogue. Our dialogue is more important to us than the sex. And we're building a name off of that. We wouldn't be selling four releases a month. And our distribution far exceeds the industry average. And we release three DVDs a month.

"We do the series 19, University Coeds, Hookers Illustrated, Panty World, Virgin Stories..."

Dane started five years ago with its first release. Ed C. came on board soon after as financial officer.

Ed: "Everything we do gets at least three-and-a-half stars. We've never had anything get less than three stars. And if you look in AVN's rental market, we're always there.

"We go after the freshest girls in the industry. Many times they work with us first... And we don't hire girls we hired two years ago. Because our customers wants young faces. I think that's why the Sopranos is so successful. Because most of these actors haven't been stars. They're fresh faces. And also the writing of it. And that's what we're very famous for - the writing of our scripts. Sex is sex. But the scripts and dialogue... Our dialogue takes some ten to twelve minutes which is unheard of in the adult business.

"Dan Marque, our director, does all our script writing.

"We went from Digital to Beta. Digital is a lot cheaper and easier to operate."

Luke: "Have you guys taken into consideration the Cambria List?"

Ed: "No. We really watch ourselves. We're very careful. No incest or any of that stuff. There are things about daughters who run away and someone who is hooking on the streets for drugs but that is part of life. They always say they are 18 years old. That's what I'm told. We're one of the cleaner boys out there. There are some people out there, I don't know how they wake up in the morning.

"Sometimes our girls are not the most gorgeous girls in the world. We use what's available that month for new talent."

Patrick Riley writes: I just watched Nineteen #41 from Dane and I take it all back. Must have been a couple of rogue videos that caused me to defame them in such a manner. Nineteen #41 is fabulous with two fantastic scenes, one OK and one mediocre, evaluation largely paralleling the quality of the girls.

Brittney Blue: story daughter of Rod Fontana, she's turning into a little teenage whore (so he says) and she proves it by screwing Rod's friend Herschel in the kitchen. I didn't like Brittney when she first appeared (too pushy and her face is not great) but here she shows what a wonderful little body she has. Near perfection. If only she'd have had the sense to avoid the tattoos. She's standing a lot, both nude and in short white shorts rolled up to make them even shorter. When she takes them off her butt, her belly, her tight waist, her small/medium tits, her squared shoulders...aaah, fantastic. What does she do? Who cares? Just looking at her is enough.

Violet Blue. This is the one from Extreme Teen #14 that voyager didn't like. Personally, I think she's gorgeous. Very pretty with a lovely infant-undamaged body, gorgeous tight waist, flat belly, nice smile. You don't see as much of her naked and standing as you do Brittney but to compensate at the beginning of her scene she's sleeping in a fifties/sixties style party dress with the skirt rucked up to show her little white panties. It's supposed to be a flashback of sex pervert Jack Hammer's first encounter with innocence and boy does she look innocent. Later during the sex you see her kneeling on the bed clad only in a semi-transparent half-slip (waist down). I should slam this scene because there's some editing errors with the clothing but she's so gorgeous and their hearts are in the right place. Another advantage is that the scene doesn't end with a facial. I think she's anti-facial as so far all her scenes have been facial free. Great!

Phoenix. The tall girl with a pretty face who appeared and had trouble with Dick Nasty in Barely Legal #10. She does a lap dance with Jay Ashley and he gets so worked up that he gives her $200 for a full screw. Didn't like to prostitution aspect of the scene nor her rather bored look at times but still at least she's slim and pretty. Monica Peterson: This one's a throwaway. She's pudgy and has a hook nose and white blonde hair that makes her look like a whore. Can anyone sort out the various English-speaking Monica's? There's the Australian girl in Barely Legal #10, there's this one, and there seems to be a Monica Mayhem or is she one of the others?

Internet Porn Gossip

Luke: "My signups suck."

XXX: "Everybody's down, it's not just you. It's a little bit of everything. You're going into the summer months now where people are more active and going outside and doing recreational activities instead of porn. It's like radio and TV. The summer is your slowest book.

"You're the human car accident. Everybody wants to see what will happen. It's like JoeE last week. He was out of his mind. Many people were saying, 'JoeE's nuts. I'm never going to JoeE's party again. He's so rude.' Bottom line, people hang around with JoeE because he's like a car wreck. People want to see what he will do. They're all rubbernecks.

'JoeE gets a few drinks in him and the next thing you know he's making fun of people, being pig, and saying crazy s--- to chicks. I love that about him. He'll walk into a room and say, 'Listen bitches. Everybody get on their knees and suck my dick.' It's crazy.

"Many people won't do booths this year. Because the webmasters don't appreciate it. Nobody thanks him and nobody signs up for his programs because of it. You're spent a million dollars on a trade show and you can't measure whether you're recouping it. The AVN trade show has become so expensive that it is not justifiable to a lot of people."

Heads Up On Lady Paree

Randy De Troit writes: Well I got some pretty serious dope on Lady Paree if you want to publish it. the general public needs to be aware of her & on the lookout at all times. She came out here on the auspice of doing some work for me, specifically gangbangs. Well anyway, a whole lot of s--- transpired & here is the bottom line. If you want to converse on it in more detail let me know. She has been galavannting around town since 1992 with a phoney name & constant contrived HIV test, she will download a test of someones, white out everything & fill it in with her 'stage name' which is

She is a cleptomaniac & can't help herself. I can't leave her in a room for 5 minuutes without something disapeearing. ALl her teeth are rotted out in her mouth, she has no hygiene whatsoever in her mouth except for her pussy which she polishes everyday, spittin' shine. Her breasts are like rocks, she just got out of prison & her real name is Sonya Wright who is get this: 39 years old. She had people believng she weas underage when she got out here, That is her new lie, of course that would hvae made her 16 when she first started shooting videos. But I hvae eveidence cause she wrote me from prison & she couldn't receive mail in her supposed name (she's from Paris & switzerland, right!), she's just on ol' ghetto whore from the gutters of Houston's , backlands.

She's completely phony & wooul just like to inform the public, don't let her in your house or studio, you'll lose everything, she ran up my phone bill a couple of hunderd dollars, brought a gay guy to be her body guard, but they were staying in the same romm at the hotel, f---ing each other with no rubbers, she also brought a supposed cousin & they all were out here last month rolling drunk Mexicans for thousands. I would like to pubosiuh her dock number if that is cool with you too.

She must be blackballed from this industry & guys watch yoru wallets, actresses watch your money & clothes & jewely. Seh scams guys over the internet, so post that too. I mean she is riducould. She is scandalous & can be very aggresive, she even called the police on me & told them I raped her, in North Hollywood about a month ago. She gave me a camera & I didn't return it fast enough, so she stalked my new car & threw rocks at it

Luke F-rd Stealing From RAME

Here are some posts from the rec.arts.movies.erotica newsgroup (RAME.net):

Michael2000n1 writes: Well I read his site and he likes to steal alot of stuff from RAME, I'm sure most of you don't care. But Luke if I ever see you stealing anything I write on here I will sue your ASS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Brandy Alexandre replies: On what grounds. Please don't tell me that everything you write is copyrighted, because it's not. I agree that it's an abuse of the intent of usenet to pull items out the forum in which you placed your comments and intended them to stay, but how would you prove damage or loss?

FAQ@Rame.net writes: Archiving on an (unrelated) website, like Luke's, is another matter entirely. (I use "unrelated" because a website like Deja or Google is merely a different window onto Usenet; and rame.net is an archive of RAME posts -- and eventually of RAME itself.) Luke's site usually takes a controverisal post and places it on his site in an effort to "run it up the flag pole and see who salutes." He rarely offers criticsm or commentary on a given RAME post...

Slacker writes: Plus a guy [Michael?] who boasts about ripping off AOL and assorted music companies probably ought not to be talking about recourse to the law in order to protect intellectual property :-)

Michael writes: Maybe sue was the wrong word I just want a piece of Luke's profits if anything I write on RAME is COPIED onto his site, why should WE write his site for him?

Belgalan writes on RAME: What's there to sue? Luke F-rd indicates where he gets the news, even it is from RAME. I don't see any plagarism on his part as long as he uses the author's name. I use lot of the reviews posted on RAME as long as I indicate where this stuff comes from when I put them in my personal adult video database/lists.

Michael replies: I post to RAME not to l-keford, I don't want my name on his website, he makes money on his website I feel I should have the piece of the action if he's gonna copy my typed words on his site. He makes money off of you and I.

Tetsuwan writes: There's that little issue of ownership, and thus permission . . .

DT writes: He's been doing that for some time. A few months ago, I posted a statement which I qualified by stating: "From what I heard . . ." When he posted my comment on his site, he deleted that phrase and posted my statement as fact rather than hearsay. Great reporting, Luke.

In Support Of The Free Speech Coalition

Silver Spring, Maryland First Amendment Attorney Jon Katz writes: In Support of the Free Speech Coalition With the recent pro and con discussion about the Free Speech Coalition, I humbly offer my view, as a First Amendment lawyer and as a co-founder of the new Free Speech Coalition chapters of the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia.

The adult entertainment industry is stronger and more successful because of the Free Speech Coalition. No other national coalition exists for all segments of the adult entertainment industry. There is truly strength in united numbers, particularly when so many government agencies, organizations, and individuals want to marginalize and destroy the industry.

The FSC's recent accomplishments and continued progress confirm that the FSC is a vital part of the adult industry's success. The FSC won a stunning victory by convincing the Ninth federal Circuit Court to strike down the 1996 "virtual kiddie porn" addition to the federal child pornography law. The FSC needs continued financial support as it fights to uphold this victory in the Supreme Court.

The FSC has convinced California legislators to kill numerous anti-adult bills, and now the FSC is starting state chapters around the country to do the same thing nationwide, and to get the word out locally that the FSC's members are legitimate businesses and workers who have the right to be protected by the Constitution.

In 2000, the FSC hired a full-time executive director, Bill Lyon, who actively works to build coalitions with the ACLU and other groups with overlapping goals, to present a positive public image of the adult industry, and to strengthen the FSC's leadership and finances while lobbying for FSC's interests before such groups as ICANN, the COPA committee, and, currently, the Congressionally-created committee to limit children's exposure to "harmful" Internet material. Bill Lyon and FSC legislative affairs director Kat Sunlove are diligently involved in establishing and training FSC state chapters, so that the adult entertainment industry can campaign from both the national and grassroots levels.

The unified District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia FSC chapters soon will be training with Kat Sunlove for lobbying work, so that state and county lawmakers will have to take into account the interests of the adult industry and it's economic contributions before even thinking of supporting anti-adult legislation. The leadership and membership of the DC, Maryland and Virginia FSC chapters include cabarets, retailers, distributors, and the Internet industry.

In the best of all possible worlds, the FSC would be there for every adult industry member who is under attack by anti-adult forces. To do that would take millions of dollars. The FSC's annual budget of well under $1 million is not much to work with; and the budget would be even smaller if it were not for the FSC members who annually dig into their pockets to provide additional funding to make FSC's projects possible.

I urge everyone to join the FSC for at least one year, to see the positive difference that your membership and contribution will make to the adult industry, to have a voting voice in the FSC, and to have a chance to fix any problems you perceive in the FSC. Yeah, so you say, but the FSC doesn't disclose where the funds come from and where they go. You call it a paltry million dollar budget, but how much of that budget is administrative costs, lobbying costs, fund-raising costs, and in what percentages? This is what you need to be explaining to people. For all we know, the cost of Night of the Stars and similar fund-raising events exceed the funds they are supposed to raise. Even if they break even it is a shameful waste of money that is better spent elsewhere. Do we really need a glad-handing, flag-waving event every year? The only time I hear people say they're in this business for the sole purpose to exercise their first amendment rights is at the event. The rest of the time they're talking about how much they can get away with because they want to make more money. And they'd be doing it whether or not the was a first amendment at all because that's all they care about.

Lynne L-patin writes: Lynne writes: Luke is off gallivanting amongst the porn stars once again this evening, Jon, so I took you up on your invitation to visit the FSC website. On the Editorial page I found the following two paragraphs (my italics):

"In response to a request from the Assembly Public Safety Committee, the following material was recently submitted for use in the Assembly Rules Committee's New Members training program. It presents the Free Speech Coalition's legislative goals and a summary of our political priorities and agenda for the 1999-2000 session. It is presented here for your information." and...

"The Free Speech Coalition is seeking sponsors for two key bills in 1999 which we feel are needed to correct certain inequities in current law and police practices. In addition, we urge the Legislature to consider a new approach to bills relying on the "secondary effects" argument."

What's wrong here? The dates, maybe? Under late news I found listings of events for the upcoming few months, but nothing on what the FSC is doing legislatively. This is not encouraging. Why join an organization that either hasn't updated its website since 1999, or hasn't done anything since 1999? I'm sure you'll tell me that members receive frequent updates; as a journalist, can I access those updates somehow? Does Kat Sunlove know you've written to l-keford.com? Don't you know that Luke F-rd is the sworn (maybe not sworn, because Luke doesn't swear, but at least the designated) enemy of the Free Speech Coalition? Luke represents the fight for truth, justice and the Torah, among other things. I'm teasing just a little, of course, but all the questions anyone has ever asked of the Free Speech Coalition could be answered with regular press releases to porn journalists, including Luke F-rd, or in an interview given to Luke F-rd...and if not Luke, to others (because Luke will cut and paste from them and post the information whether he has permission or not. That's why we love him so...he believes speech should be free...freely given, freely taken.)

I tried to attend a FSC event about a year ago and, rather than inviting me to join, Ms. Sunlove threw me out because I'm a friend of Luke's, after having thrown Luke out because he offended one of HER friends. Gloria Leonard, formerly a FSC regular, flipped Luke "the bird" in the California State Legislature. And that's just recently. Just like Luke is often offensive; sexually explicit speech can be very offensive. Luke paid the legal price for his offensive speech, but the FSC doesn't support his right to speak freely. l-keford.com has always been available to those who wish to speak freely, even offensively. The FSC may not be a social club, but it behaves like a social club. Like the Masons, with a secret agenda and a secret handshake.

My point is that as journalists we've tried to inform the porn-interested public as to the mission of the FSC; it's the FSC that can't get its act together to get the word out about what it does, other than plan social events and exclude people like Luke and me who stand for freedom of speech, theirs AND ours.

Brandy's request for an annual financial statement from the organization before she considers joining is something that any honest nonprofit or not-for-profit would be willing to provide prospective funding sources. If FSC were an honest agency, they could post their financial statement here on l-keford.com, totally openly, and feel good about it. But they aren't, they don't and they can't. If it tastes like bacon, it came from a pig, and that ain't Kosher no matter how you slice it.

We do need social events for the porn industry. Social bonding is important. I've never been too thrilled about the golf and country club themes (must be my Trotskyite/Lysenko learned behavior genetic heritage), but pornographers do need to come together every so often in the flesh just like other tradespeople. Tradition is important, too. There's no reason why "Night at the Stars" or any other fundraising event can't make money if it is run properly.

Five percent of the porn business, like the rest of the world, is cognitive, first amendment included. Ninety-five percent couldn't care less about most things, but they come to party, and that raises money. Every year I attended porn events, I knew fewer and fewer of the players. I'm antisocial; I hate parties. Besides, I doubt l-keford.com could afford a table at "Night of the Stars." I doubt Luke F-rd would be allowed to attend. This is free speech?

Meanwhile, l-keford.com fans need to know some important things about you, Jon: Are you Jewish, are you married and have you procreated?
