Vivid Video Turning Out High Priced Hookers?

Wilbur writes: Hey Luke, Check out this latest post from Nici (of Nicis Girls) on The Big Doggie message board. (http://www.bigdoggie.net/pornstar). Apparently, Vivid Video is no longer as concerned with turning out quality porn as they are with breeding quality trick-turners! I wonder how Vivid Management feels about Nici capitalizing on their name? I wonder how much it costs to do a Vivid Girl?

Las Vegas IA2000 Update

Alien@SinCityFilms.com writes: Thought I should write you here from Vegas! The show is doing well. Honorable mention is Floor 35 at the Venetetian was a memorable one, Python Video BabeNET had a party there last night pleasant very high profile, met some powerhorses there and some are not fans of the big fan fair. Sin City got the back part of the expo, I mean the very back stuck near a couple dialer companies. It is like some did not even pay attention to the whole RJB thing! Fool's. Not RJB but all the companies that are jumping into the dialers, and pushin it. I believe RJB was indeed the wrong guys for the FTC go after now, now that I am in the now.

Pizza Delivery

Lucy Lowrider writes: Could any one give me a list of pornographic films that come from that stereotypical pizza guy/repair man genre? You know the kind I mean: the TV repairman stops by, and whoops the woman's whose TV he is repairing comes out of the shower and accidently drops her towel.

Lynne replies: A quick search of excaliburfilms.com under pizza turned up Amateur Home Video #68: Pizza Boy's Soecuial Delivery, Brazilian She-Male: Sex Pizza; California Pizza Girls, Homegrown Video #234: Man Delivers Pepperoni Pizza to Bounci; Hot and Saucy Pizza Girls (with Candida Royale, Desiree Cousteau, and John Holmes); Mondo Extreme #14: Fat Piggy's Pizza Pussy Party; Pizza Girls and Pizzas, Hot Tubs and Bimbos. I figure multiply this by about 2,000....

Luke Gets Mail

Tyler writes: maybe Janine went to digital playground cause no other major company wanted her (does she still have that "no sex with guys" contract?) at least when she was blonde she was halfway attractive...now shes simply hideous with those awful tattoos. i dont think tera patrick has anything to worry about, GO BACK INTO RETIREMENT JANINE!!! YOURE OVAAAAAH!!

Adella writes from Digital Playground: Stop by the Digital Playground booth (#533) at the AVN Adult Entertainment Expo to see your favorite stars, Janine Lindemulder, Tera Patrick & Nikki Tyler. All the girls are so excited about the show they’ve been busy shopping for new clothes to take off. Bring your camera and they’ll give you something to smile about!

Leonard writes: Luke, From one member of the Tribe to another:

In a recent article in Wired, you said about a recent trip, "My greatest fear was that someone would find out what I do and tell the whole group," he said. "Baruch Hashem, no one found out."

Luke, I wonder if you aren't ashamed about the wrong thing!! I've found that Christians who convert to Judaism have a terrible guilt complex that is often misplaced.

We live in a society in which the sex industry is treated with contempt - even while everyone indulges in it.

There is no shame for a human being to make a profession out of sexuality. God created people to enjoy the fruits of the world - and created sexuality as an innate and important part of our existence. It is not an area for shame. When talking about sex and the sex industry, the Torah and Talmud deal with it quite directly in a non-judgmental way.

That being said, Judaism does put stringencies upon us with regard to sexuality. This is because it recognizes its power in our lives. Judaism puts restrictions on us to help bring us closer to God. These limits should be viewed as ideals - not as burdens of guilt. The traditional concept of "sin" - of some divine punishment - is just not relevant here. Working in the sex industry is no greater or less a sin than eating unkosher, or mixing wool and linen in a garment; these acts may distance us from Hashem, but they don't cause harm to anyone (except ourselves).

That being said, there is something that you as an involved Jew must be greatly concerned about: "Lashon Hara", or gossip. As you know, to spread rumors or arbitrarily speak ill of someone is viewed very harshly in Judaism. But it's so common, that people forget about how criticially important it is. Virtually every adult is guilty of it. It's viewed so benignly that the "gossip columnist" is an important part of every paper.

In your work, you walk a fine line - and I don't envy you. On the one hand, you raise important criticism about the operation of the porn industry - criticism that needs to be raised. Your work helps make some rich, powerful people a lot more conscious of the impact they have upon others. But on the other hand, you run a strong risk of speaking ill of someone without purpose. Even the most rich, powerful, idiotic and conceited people do not deserve to be unfairly embarrassed.

From what I've seen, I don't doubt your statement that "Most of the writing on my site is more intelligent than what's in The New York Times". Your intelligence - and the significance of what you do - are not at question. There's just one thing you need to consider. Given your growing profile, you are gaining the power to have a tremendous impact upon others' lives - potentially for good or bad. How can you make it one and not the other?

Lynne writes: Leonard, Luke has already had immeasurable impact for good upon many others' lives, which is something I've been honored to tell his family. He ministers to a population of sinners, but should one minister only to a population of saints? Without Luke F-rd, the porn industry was self-contained, perpetuating it's private, inner myths. Like the naughty little boy who pointed out the Emperor's inadequate costume, Luke shines the light of truth on pornography, forcing it to vomit up its darkest secrets from deep recesses, forcing it to pay attention to itself for fear of exposure..."
