Porn To Mainstream - The Impossible Dream
From Fade to Black.com: Each year hundreds, if not thousands, of eager young hopefuls flock to Hollywood with tantalizing images of fame and fortune flicking in their minds. These stardom-seekers quest a life better than their own. They leave dead end jobs and doomed relationships dreaming of life on the silver screen, hoping and praying they will be the next new discovery that will take the entertainment world by storm. But we all know nothing worth its weight in celluloid comes easy. If you look closely at the overnight success stories we hear about so often, you'll probably find that it was not chance encounters with directors or producers that propelled the new sensations into the limelight. It was most likely years of hard, back-breaking work and training that paved their way to the top. Unlike the few lucky ones, most Hollywood stars pay their dues by constantly studying and learning their craft, devoting all their time and energies into their art, and toiling in less than glamorous surroundings in painstaking preparation for the rigors that movie stardom will hopefully one day bring.
We at Fade to Black have reached out to a few of these individuals. We've contacted a few actors and actresses in the porno industry and have asked them how their hands-on and rigorous experience in pornography has prepared them for work in more legitimate mainstream roles.
Dave Cummings: "Being in Adult films prepares me for main stream cinema by training me in acting, realism, consciousness about camera location and angles, facial expressions, eye contact, scrip memorizing and improvising, interpersonal relationships, timing, etc."
Careena Collins: "I feel my intelligence and education have prepared me more for non-adult films more than any adult films I have made. Sure having been before a camera before, memorizing lines and taking direction, helps; but having the intelligence and talent to actually act is innately different and something only the rare adult actor will possess."
Taylor Wane "We learn to not be scared of being in front of the camera, we learn to be secure in ourselves and know sometimes you don't get the job because you just didn't fit the parts mold and not because the don't like you personally..We learn how to remember dialog."
Jacklyn Lick "[pornography] for mainstream in the sense that there is not much we are afraid to do in front of a camera. You get very used to cameras in your face."
Kitty Fox: "I believe that having been in more than 125 adult feature films has taught me that you learn every day. I have not have a shoot go by that I haven't learned something new and useful. It may be as simple as the differences between Directors and their methods to as complex as learning a new technique to convey my feelings as a role character to my audience. I have done one mainstream film already (FREEWAY) and I would gladly accept another role if offered."

The former head of the Miami Teamsters union, his brother-in-law and a California-based pornographer are among nine people snared as a result of a three-year investigation into rampant drug smuggling at Port Everglades.
John Gallo, the owner of California-based Klimaxxx Productions, is also accused of laundering part of the drug proceeds.
Gallo, the pornography maker, hooked up with the alleged conspiracy when he and one of the other men served time in the same federal prison, authorities said. Klimaxxx allegedly laundered more than $1 million in ill-gotten money.

Lee Noga filed suit against Nick for copyright infringement in LA Federal court in 1998. Zmaster Productions vs. Nick Eskesen, and Digital Xtreme. Eskesen had worked in 1997 as the website developer for Noga's company Zmaster.com.
XXX: I have followed Lee Noga's career for many years and before she sued Nick Eskesen a 50/50 partner of Klimaxxx Productions with webmaster content CD's, she told me what happend. Nick used to be the webmaster of the Zmaster Productions website and he also became a competitor of Noga. She was making changes on her web pages and saw he had embedded his email so everytime a webmaster order processed from the the website, he got a copy of it too. Noga stopped talking about the case after she filed it in Federal court, but she must have gotten a settlement because it never made the headlines. Im no lawyer but to me it seems this Nick guy helped himself to her customers to further his webmaster content selling business. Lee felt so violated that her own webmaster would f--- her for their own benefit. She is a cool lady, I would have called Guido, but this Nick guy made a big mistake pissing Noga off.

Levi thinks that RB (Rich Botto of RJBT) doesn't want this controversy on the boards but RB does. RB's nursing a grudge. He keeps talking about his peers in the industry who are staying silent in the middle of this FTC bust of RJBT. Most webmasters are loudly supporting RJBT on the boards because they're livelihood is at stake and because they genuingely like and respect RB and his company. But RB wonders why his biggest competitors, the Cybereroticas, the Vivids and the IGallerys, are staying silent. He wonders if they cooperated with the FTC against him.
RB's biggest competitors say, off the record, that this is ludicrous. While they have their own FTC investigations to worry about, and hence want to stay low profile, they vehemently deny any finking to the feds of RJBT.
Levi and RB talked for the first time since the crisis on Monday and they will meet in person in Las Vegas next week to communicate more clearly.
Cybererotica's always been glad that RJB was number one, because it took the spotlight off them.
RB now knows who his friends are in this business, and who his enemies aren't.
I feel for RB. He conducts business honestly. It's many of his resellers that are causing the problems.

I will say that people do show their true colors at a time like this. Information comes from the most unlikely of sources and I have seen people who I thought were best (or at the least, very good) friends give up info on one another voluntarily. Interesting stuff.
On another note, we continue to believe that we will prevail. Our communication with the FTC has been solid and constructive. Our communication with people (non webmasters) "in the know" regarding the industry and our situation has been outstanding and, at times, very, very informative.
While we fight the good fight, our focal point remains with our (legitimate) webmasters. The support has been amazing...And we have nothing but good things planned for them in 2000 and beyond.
Brad Shaw Sues Xpays
Brad Shaw writes: Luke, I have been busy all week working on a serious matter of copyright infringement by the "fine" folks over at Xpays. I can tell you we plan on filing a copyright infringement lawsuit against xpays.com in Federal Court in Dallas within a couple of weeks. We spent over 3 weeks attempting to work out a settlement with Xpays over their use of our images in AVN and Klixxx magazine print ads. As most webmasters know, when the buy CD's from content providers, they are purchasing just internet rights, print rights are an entire other ball game. I offered them a simple settlement for pennies and they turned it down. Basically all I was looking for was an acknowledgement that they were using our content in print without license and about $100 per pic used which is far below our standard print rates. Evan thinks he is above the law, but we will prove otherwise. We plan on seeking massive damages against Xpays, six figures plus. Should be interesting, it is an open and shut case when we subpoena the former owners of Fresh Photos who will reiterate no print rights were ever issued to Xpays. IMHO any affiliate who uses Xpays should double check who they are doing business with. These guys may serve breakfast in their drug infested rooms at conventions, but when it comes to copyright laws its another story.
Besides that I am heading to Vegas for aduldex for the week and hope to see everyone.

Gore gave us the V-Chip, which will shut off your TV for you if something naughty comes on, no less than THREE unconstitutional laws controlling Internet content (CDA 1 and 2 and COPA), all of which were overturned, thankfully, and has threatened legislation against Hollywood if it doesn't "clean up its act." The Clinton administration also created "Carnivore," an FBI system that monitors private e-mail on the Internet. Liberman has been hassling the videogame industry for years as well and is the reason for the rating label on videogames, and also has threatened Hollywood with legislation.
Both the PMRC and Lieberman have demanded labeling for records and videogames, respectively They said "oh no no, we don't want to censor, we just want labeling to INFORM parents." Right. Then, mysteriously, Wal-Mart, K-Mart and some other mall-based retailers suddenly began refusing to carry records and videogames with warning stickers on them. So records ended up being pre-censored before getting out and games like "Quake" were kicked out of major retail outlets.
So Michael, pull your head out of your ass, wipe the s--- out of your eyes, and use them. Your supposed freedom loving Democrats hate the First Amendment as much as they hate the Second Amendment.

Here's an excerpt: One explanation is that the Democratic party offers itself — and the government — as the protector of, and provider for, millions of single women. The Democratic party offers its governance as a surrogate husband — and it is so regarded by many unmarried women. Most women have a primal desire to be protected, and, if they have children, to have their children protected.
To make this observation is neither insulting nor sexist, any more than it would be insulting or sexist to speak of men as being innately more physically aggressive or less naturally inclined to monogamous commitment. Whether because of evolution, socialization, nature , divine design, or an amalgam of all of these, women have a powerful need to feel secure (the shift of American priorities from liberty to security can be regarded as one example of the feminization of American society). For the vast majority of women in history this need was met through marriage. That is why almost no woman marries "down." Virtually every woman wants a man who meets her primal desire for a protector/provider. This is why it is often so difficult for a professionally successful woman to find a mate. There are few single men more successful than she is, and most of those men are quite happy (indeed often prefer) to marry women who are far less successful than they are.
The Democratic party regularly uses the rhetoric and offers the promises of a protecting husband: "I will take care of you"; "I will fight for you"; "I will fight for your children." We will provide your child's health care, we will provide day care, we will provide pre-school education. We will do most everything for you and your children that a husband would. This has long been viewed as one of the reasons for the absent husbands and fathers that plague the black inner city — the need for them has been reduced thanks to welfare and government.
