Mark Cromer writes a hagiography of HIV positive porn stud Tony Montana in last week's LA Weekly:

NEW YORK (AP) - An X-rated movie star and a top Wall Street executive were indicted Thursday on insider trading charges. James McDermott Jr., the former CEO at Keefe, Bruyette & Woods, was named in the indictment along with Kathryn Gannon, 30, known as ``Marylin Star'' in the adult film industry.
Rick Sommers of Adulthosting.com writes on YNOT: "We are hosting a site that does have pictures of nude little girls 5+ years old or so.. Now I have read the law over and over, and I am puzzled.. I was under the assumption that clild porn was illegal, however from what I have read, no laws are being broken. Now the site owner claims he is not braking any laws as none of his pictures qualify as "sexually explicit conduct" as defined by Sec 18 2256 and therefor are not qualified as "child pornography" as defined."

Andrew Edmond, owner of SexTracker.com and YNOTnetwork.com, now posts regularly on the YNOT board, the most influential webmaster board. He writes:
There has been a lot of opportunity for SexTracker (and YNOT!) to start some mainstream businesses as a means of diversifying, and we've chosen not to. Why? We've watched some of our competitors spend millions of dollars forming non adult businesses and the results for their efforts were nothing compared to adult. I know of just one adult industry person that started a non-adult venture and even came close to making the money we all do in adult. Maybe a third of the people I know are barely breaking even, and the rest are either bankrupt or back at their day jobs. Not very good results.
The basic facts are that adult market on the internet means a lot of money to a LOT of people - including VISA, especially VISA. They are not going to piss away billions of dollars in processing just because of some rotten apples in our collective barrel. If they tried, they would be challenged legally by every major player in this business. VISA will certainly impose more rules as they are legally allowed to, they will tighten up our business through various changes in the way we can do business over time. Business discrimination is an area of law that many of the major players have done much study on, and the news is we have a lot of rights that VISA can’t and won’t f--- with.
However, with the formation of the Global Internet Association (see AVN article posted in YNOT news a few days ago), and the new strategies YNOT is developing to provide a voice of unity for our business, we will be able to defend our rights to sell our goods as the law permits us to. Remember, we are not breaking the law - we are just providing goods and services people are willing to pay for... goods and services found at nearly every newstand in the world! The adult internet is here to stay… we will have some challenges, and some minor bumps in the road. It’s going to get a little harder to make as much money as we are used to, but not by much. And if we can get proactive with issues that face us, collectively, I think we will all be sitting pretty in five years as those that are “going not adult” might not be around to enjoy :) However, if you are done with adult, I’m happy to buy your business :) :) :)

In the latest issue of the (Dec/Jan) South African general interest magazine "SL," Mark Kramer recounts his adventures as a 1970s New York porn star. Kramer is better known to l-keford.com readers as Krash aka the author of all reports titled "l-keford.com Wire Services Ltd.:".

Terri and I awaited our cue to play a scene of 'bloody,' sexually-explicit psychodrama - intended by the film's director as an X-rated lampoon of the sexploitation thrillers then popular in many of the crumbling movie palaces lining New York City's once-notorious 42nd Street.
These were the days of commercial concupiscence - a time when libidos ran wild, if not free. I was being paid one hundred 1974 U.S. dollars by director Lech Kowalski, to commingle my flesh with Terri's beneath the 16mm camera's unblinking gaze. For an additional $100 Lech was also using my dreary Greenwich Village apartment as the film's location.
For me, this was nothing short of form following dysfunction. At 22 febrile years of age, I could not have imagined a sweeter gig. I was the product of an era when relentless sexual exploration was widely touted as the key to a better life. From earliest adolescence I had been transfixed by the interplay of dirty art and arty dirt and their visual power, unrivaled except by religious relics, to produce glandular responses.
Skin magazines celebrating an emergent pornutopia were turning up alongside Life and Time on suburban newsstands. Garish storefronts and marquees, with flame-red exteriors, seemed to sprout up overnight in virtually all of America's increasingly derelict downtowns and post-industrial outlands. The zeitgeistly message was 'Do it!' - closely followed by its corollary, 'f--- It!' Real estate was soft, penises were hard, morals were loose, and a lost generation of wayward young exhibitionists had converged on the metropolitan underbelly ripe for action...
Since this was before the age of music video and before New York City had even been wired for cable TV, porn was an accepted local mainstay of the professional filmmaking economy. I was enrolled in New York University's School of Film and Television at the time and porn offered one of the best forums for on-the-job production experience as well as the opportunity to make contacts...
Despite Director Lech Kowalski's blunt disinterest in orchestrating acts of arousal, as a Mafia subcontractor he was obligated to compile a certain amount of hardcore sex for theatrical exhibition. In the years to come, the enigmatic Lech would attain a certain global cultdom for his Sex Pistols documentary D.O.A.. In the meantime, he demonstrated a flair for eliciting scenes of maximum degradation from his 'talent,' as well as always bringing his pornos in under budget...
Also colonising this mis-en-scene was a clutch of carnal cosmopolitans including the highly recognizable and semi-legendary screen stud Marc "Mr. 10 1/2" Stevens - whose genitalia would be immortalized in at least one Robert Maplethorpe - and top-heavy temptress Darby Lloyd Rains, an expressive blond who went on to attain brief renown in the ponderously scripted crotch-opera Memories Within Miss Aggie.

The real reason that Rob is paying off his ex-girlfriend Nikki is said to be because Nikki has threatened that she will go to the police with damaging information on Rob. Some people just like the work, you know? ;) The industry has medical insurance available to them, and there is no pre-existing condition doo-dad in it. As for life insurance, it would probably be difficult, or at least very expensive to get coverage for what they would be considered high risk behavior. Sort of like sky divers. I don't know, though. Maybe Greg Zeboray can chime in on this one.
Brandy writes: I'm sorry if people are offended that my comments on the Nikki Lae and HIV situation are getting more attention than the situation itself. While we all feel sorry for her, I think discussion veers off to the HIV threat to the industry as a whole because the Nikki Lae's of it keep happening. If everything was as zipped up and proper as Sharon Mitchell, AIM, or others supposedly looking out for the talent would have you believe, this might not have happened. But that only assumes the infection came from within the industry. I went off on a tangent because every time a new infection shows up, the cracks in the system show up as well; for example the fact that Ashley Heart hadn't been tested for 4 months. It's not that Ms. Lae has been cast aside as casualty of porn, it's that the focus shifts to find a way to keep it from happening again. Since I'm already a controversial figure let me step out on a limb again: I don't think there should be ANY organization like AIM working for the industry. I think it's giving a false sense of security, which is worsened by its haphazard operation. I think everyone should take responsibility for themselves, look to their colleagues for guidance, offer guidance to others, and assume that everyone they're working with is infected. I think a good dose of daily fear would be a lot healthier for everyone than a assumption of safety.

Editorial Policy
In my opinion, a clear editorial policy is required for the success of any magazine, be it AVN or XXXGen. AVN has prospered in large part because it does have such a clear policy - AVN exists to serve the adult industry. It acts in what it regards as porn's best interests. AVN seeks to inform pornographers on how they can increase their profits.
l-keford.com also has clear editorial principles, though I am not exactly sure what they are. I think they include the following:
* Complete disregard for the interests of the porn industry and for the profits of pornographs.
* Callous disregard for porners feelings. Though I make numerous exceptions to this, to coddle sources, to protect the mentally and emotionally unbalanced, i.e., much of the talent... When I consistently and harshly criticize people on this site it reflects a basic respect that I have for them, that they can handle criticism and have the ability to respond. I have in mind here Paul Fishbein and the big players at AVN, Steve Hirsch and Vivid, Russ Hampshire and VCA, David Sturman and Sin City, Jim South and World Modeling, Sharon Mitchell and AIM, Edward Wedelstedt and Goalie, etc...
* Free voice to almost anybody, particularly those in the industry, even if it means uttering racist comments or cruelly disparaging people.
* A lust for the truth, wherever it leads, even when it means piling on the BS to get at what is true. I enjoy provoking people and baiting porners and running outrageously false comments, because in the to-and-fro that results, we often find some profound truths.
Luken writes: I suggest adding: l-keford.com will not serve as a channel for threats of physical violence, as this detracts from all parties. Gratuitous violence also loses the female traffic on your site.....take my word for it. If you consider that censorship, you might box off the violent stuff with a "violent contents" warning, use hypertext for reader access to the violent material, or restrict it to the very end of the day's column with a similar disclaimer.

Max Hardcore Controversy
Max Hardcore writes: I prefer not to broadcast my feelings about these things, because I like to keep my business personal and private. You can be sure when you do a deal with Max, it's not going be the lead item on gossip.com. I expect the same from the people I do business with. But after the continued ranting by our industry's current do-gooder, Shorty Schwartz, and much urging, I am compelled to respond. The guy is an obvious retard. How else to explain his recent actions? He tries to muscle in on one of my girls, under the pretense of "saving her," and then acts like he's doing nothing wrong. He did it before and I warned him. This time, I was forced to take the direct approach. This is a suitcase pimp who can not be trusted.
Let's look at the facts. Max: Over 300 movies. Shorty: 2 movies. I pay the girls a lot of money to appear in my videos. They have a pretty good idea what they're getting into, and work in a spotless mansion, or exotic locations overseas. Shorty takes money from the girls for the privilege of getting a ride to work in a beat-up wreck, and sleeping on his vermin-infested couch in a cluttered apartment.
He claims I beat up a girl called Gia during one scene. I made her cry, and she begged me to stop. I couldn't even release it in the US market. The fact is her scene is on Maxed Out 16, put out by Legend Video in November, 99. The scene is unremarkable to the point of boredom, as Gia can't act and can't f---. But she did look cute in skates and cut-offs. If I could have shot her a few more times I'm sure we could have developed her limited talents, but I never got the chance.
That's because Shorty interfered in that matter because he wanted to get a blow-job from Gia, and it f---ed up my next shoot with her. He went on to "handle" her for a short while before she wised-up, dumped him, and left the business. I was never able to shoot her again. That's money out of my pocket. Whatever Luken wrote, says Johnathan, it's wonderful satire except it sounds like he's serious. As regards to business, many groups "share" business information and even capital. Many asian peoples subscribe to businessmen's associations that take dues and make loans, give advice and even provide services to start-ups, business expansion, etc. Jews don't do anything unique in that realm.
Michael Porter - Harvard Business School professor and write about comparative advantage - has made a fortune talking about the phenomenon of "clustering" in which similar businesses locate in the same area (or among the same people) so they can share a pool of employees, cross-fertilize ideas, generate supplier and distribution efficiencies, etc.
In regular life, the biggest factor in determining what a person will do in life is what his or her parents did - whether an actor or a firefighter. Greeks moved into restaurants because some other Greeks already had. Chinese moved into laundries because the raw materials are cheap - mostly water in the old days - and the fact that other Chinese had laundries. Jews started selling groceries to other immigrant Jews and then moved into the wider market. Each culture has both its traditional niches - like providing traditional food or religious articles - and those which a series of chances have opened up. The dominant culture in California doughnut shops is? You got it, the natural choice: Korean. That cluster has been traced back to a single person who opened a doughnut shop.
In regular old Christian America, we see clusters all the time: the huge auto related cluster in the Michigan/Ohio, which now runs down to the Kentucky and Tennessee areas along I-75; the high tech clusters in California, etc. All these depend on the factors which Luken describes as isolating the Jews.
As regards appearance, while some Christians may think of "beanies" when they imagine a Jew, the odds of orthodox Jews being in their classroom is miniscule. The average person can't tell the average Jew by appearance, unless they stand outside a Temple and watch the people go in. Luken takes an obvious difference and then blows it out of proportion. If Christians think "beanies" when they imagine Jews, it's not from the experience of being with such Jews in a classroom but from their own ignorance and stereotyping.
As regards this "chosen" crap, I'm amazed at the way it's distorted. As you know, Luke, the Torah refers to a "holy people", a concept that has evolved over the centuries into "chosen". No one knows what that phrase means. The major uses of it over the last two millenia have been by Christians trying to justify their attitudes and behavior towards Jews. Christianity, alone among the major religions of the world, is exclusive; only those who accept Christ as their savior will be saved. Every other religion either says all good people are one - like Islam - or doesn't care, which is more the Jewish attitude.
Christians cited the "chosen people" argument to say that Jews are exclusive, which they are in the sense of limited conversion. Christianity, by contrast, is extraordinarily liberal about conversion but absolutely condemnatory about the actual big point, salvation. You really should read some of St. John Chrysostum, for example. When one hears the phrase "chosen people", it is almost always in the context of Christians complaining about Jews, not in the context of Jews bragging about exclusivity.
The fact is that Jews are proud of their beliefs and way of life, as they should be. Any people should be proud of themselves. Christians really mean that Jews fail to convert to their exclusivist religion which denies salvation to all but their own. They twist the "chosen" meaning so it becomes a judgement on Christianity, when the simply fact is that through history Jews have demonstrated, at extreme cost, that they really don't care about Christianity.
As a Jew, I have an obligation to myself and my community to live in a certain way - whether reform, conservative, orthodox, etc. If we are to be a "holy people", then we must each try. We define ourselves by reference to our beliefs, not by reference to Christianity, Islam, Buddhism or anything else. Christians have great difficulty seeing that we don't care about their religion. That is built into their core concept, that Christ died for all our sins and that true salvation, spiritual as well as temporal, is possible through acceptance of Christ - for anyone who doesn't accept must, in their eyes, be condemning them. We don't condemn Christians. We just don't care because we are focused on our obligations and beliefs.
As an aside, I think that these two core concepts were actually invented by Paul, something that comes across in his letters. Peter and the other original apostles, the guys who actually knew Jesus, lived as Jews. Paul says that he got his revelation from God directly, not from the hand of man, and spends a lot of time defending his view of creation and our purpose in life. He uncomfortably describes his meetings with Paul and James - 15 days after 3 years of preaching with not a thing said about what they discussed and then says he went away for 14 years (!) without seeing any of them. When he met them again, he pretty much says it didn't go well and that they parted on rough terms. He then chasitises Peter for dealing with gentiles and pretending not to.
Most Christian writings just plain take Paul's word that Peter, the founder of the Church, was wrong, but a critical reading is also that Paul was justifying his work with the gentiles by saying that Peter really did it too. Maybe Peter did, but maybe he was looking for converts to Judaism or something else. Paul doesn't say. He criticizes Peter to make his position as apostle stronger. In one case, Paul refers to those who preach another Jesus. That's an interesting line. But my main feeling is that Paul's version of creation is absolutely incompatible with the Jewish view.
In Christianity through Paul, creation is inherently sinful. In Judaism (as in Islam), it is God's gift, the demonstration of God's love for us. Adam and Eve, in Judaism, is a statement about what happens, not a condemnation of humanity, and it contains as much hope as any such observation can - that they were sent East, toward the light, on what Judaism imagines is a journey from awareness of good evil to the wisdom to know the difference. Peter and James, Jesus' brother, could not have lived as Jews if they believed Paul's view of creation. They also could not have lived as Jews if they believed Paul's main tenet, that acceptance of Jesus allows one to negate the sinfulness of creation and achieve true perfection. It's not just that Jesus died for our sins, but that his death means we can overcome the fall from Eden and our sinful natures.
In Judaism, that kind of belief would be an affront to God. Paul's "contribution" does one other thing: it makes Christianity exclusive. I can't imagine that any person could live as a Jew and believe in such exclusivity of salvation.
In the Jewish mindset, that approaches evil. I think the letter of James, which is usually dated to the end of the 1st century and is considered an example of the "Jewish" chain of Christian following, is much closer to Jesus' actual beliefs. If you take out the two lines, which may not be original, that refer to Jesus as Lord, then you have a fairly typical Jewish preaching of the day, complete with its hope for the present coming of God.
Remember that this was right after the truly horrible warfare and killing of that Jewish revolt. Even if you leave the Jesus as Lord stuff in, the content is nowhere near Paul's declarations of salvation through acceptance of Christ. (It's certainly possible that some Jews would have hoped Jesus was either the messiah or a prophet of the end, especially given the disaster of the revolt. But even that says little about what Jesus and his original followers thought decades before.)

Brandy: Okay, let's go clinical. :) Consider the anatomy. The rectum is angled forward, veering toward the left side of the body where it meets the colon. For the most part, I don't think a dick reaches as far as the colon, so f---ing toward the left isn't necessary. ;)
Ideally you want to try to point toward the navel from whatever position you're in. Yep, that's hard to do, but you have to consider the body was never built for sex that way in the first place.
