Dot XXX Debate At Xbiz Euro

NL- @JanuarySeraph Reports on her Twitter account from the meeting of dot XXX happening at Xbiz Euro. I tried to put the tweets in order so you can read them normally from the top down.

At #XBIZEU about to watch the .XXX debate with @StuartLawley & Ms Duke of the FSC. May pull an @ElaDarling & report issue by issue…

@XBiz EU .XXX debate in 3,2,1…

From what I’ve gathered at the webmaster shows in Amsterdam & Prague, most people are quietly on board w/ @ICMRegistry & dot-XXX

@StuartLawley refutes the idea that .xxx will "ghettoize" the adult industry. .xxx is dedicated to Free Speech, on a global level

@ICMRegistry responds to "the high price" of .xxx. Other niche TLDs like .travel, etc also cost more than a .com bc of specialization

@dotxxx also donates $10 towards @IFFOR , which is dedicated to ensuring free speech, policies improving the user experience of adult sites

FSC responds to @dotxxx "ghettoizing" the adult industry with misinformation & quotes from a few random senators from years ago

"What about countries like Kenya reportedly blocking .xxx?". @StuartLawley , "No country has blocked @dotxxx. That is misinformation."

@ICMRegistry will consider funding efforts in courts against countries who move to attempt to block it, and it isn’t possible to block .xxx

FSC claims @IFFOR has said nothing about protecting Free Speech… Yet on their homepage.. "promote the tl.gd/d8p6a

Re: pricing- dot com was originally $100 each when .com first launched, only later did base price lower..

Re: pricing Ms Duke falsely claimed that domains are only offered for $200/a piece, yet Matt Mansell of DomainMonster.com speaks up..

Cont’d and says that DomainMonster.com offers @dotxxx domains for under $100. Period. More disinformation from FSC.

Lawley, "The whole point of @dotxxx is to encourage mainstream acceptance of adult sites by employing good policy & advertising."

@Frank_Schilling & @domain_incite have every intention of developing the domains they’ve purchased.

Re: trademark blocking- @dotxxx says it was a courtesy to offer this, other new domains don’t.

ICM Registry on defensive registrations- they’ve gone above & beyond what other domain registries have done previously to protect trademarks

On PETA.xxx "Why has a non adult co. been allowed to register @dotxxx domain?" ICM- "PETA hasn’t registered a .xxx, check the WhoIs"

Oops. My mistakes, this is harder than @ElaDarling made it look lol. Lawley is @SJLawley, Berkens is @Berkens & IFFOR is @IFFOR_org @XBiz

"Does ICM have veto power over @IFFOR_org policies or not?". @SJLawley "No, unless the policy breaks @ICMRegistry with ICANN."

Re: @dotxxx & payment processing.. @SJLawley "The future of payments is in micro-processing, ie Skype payments,, etc."

@SJLawley says @ICMRegistry is working with many payment processors to introduce a new adult "wallet" model, which will be a "game changer"

Lawley says that @ICMRegistry is for Net Neutrality, and will support efforts to maintain Net Neutrality.

The issues surrounding @dotxxx are not merely RTA related. I’ve heard much more about opportunities from European webmasters

And of course, Ms Duke interjects an off base snide comment at the end of the @dotxxx debate. #Classy

"Where do you see @dotxxx in 5 years?" @SJLawley, "A vibrant, profitable adult community on the web."

  1. Anthony Kennerson says:

With all due respect, January, plenty respectable producers beg to differ with you on the facts of .XXX:

This is an article from About.com that basically dismisses the entire ruse as a Ponzi scam for ICANN:

    http://womeninbusiness.about.com/b/2011/09/15/xxx-domain-scam-why-you-should-not-pay-to-block-your-domain.htm

And this is a tweet from porn performer Sara Jay (@SaraJayXXX), who attended the panel discussion:

“Just sat thru an .xxx seminar today @xbiz eu ..was a pathetic attempt 2 sell us some unnecessary bs &segregate us from the rest of internet”

Also, plenty of adult website owners have complained that the .XXX TLD is nothing more than a scam to force legitimate .com sites to buy up expensive .XXX domains to avoid cybersquatting, and could be a potential ghetto to contain if not completely destroy adult content.

Plus…the fact that Stuart Lawley is positioning himself as a defender of Net Neutrality and open Internet access is very questionable, since I’ve never heard him express such activism before this.

You are entitled to your views, of course…I just happen to disagree.

    Anthony

  2. Michael Whiteacre says:

So, “.xxx is dedicated to Free Speech, on a global level” HAHAHAHAHHAHA

These people really think we’re all rubes.

Hey January, who paid for your trip all over Europe where you supported .xxx?

I notice you you were the microphone girl at the .xxx panel during webmasteraccess, so I assume you know Greg Dumas?

Could your friends (benefactors?) at ICM Registry have anything to do with your continued hostility toward FSC (which opposes .xxx) and its programs like APHSS? HMMMM?:

Oh, of course not — you’re a person with dignity and principles. LOL

I love your comment about FSC’s Diane Duke not being “classy” at the end lot your relentless PR for Stuart Lawley’s decency, humanity and beneficence.

Define IRONY: a woman who pegs guys (including crossover performers) in the ass for money saying that the female director of a nonprofit organization isn’t “classy.”

Tell me, January, when you peg them, do you do it with a pinky extended? That’s classy!

Has anyone else here noticed that the tie that binds January and her c-word in arms Nica Noelle in their new venture “to benefit performers” is that they’re BOTH CLOSELY TIED TO COMPANIES THAT ARE HOSTILE TOWARD FSC?

In Nica’s case it’s Talent Testing Services — which refused to join APHSS because it wanted the porn testing business all to themselves in the post-AIM world.

TTS- the lab AHF’s Michael Weinstein cited favorably in his last idiotic press conference.

Why does Nica support TTS when TTS maintains what is widely regarded as an illegal (and vulnerable) database chock full of health information on performer patients while having NO DOCTOR on staff? How can such a clinic store that information legally?

Why does Nica — “the performers advocate!” — support TTS when TTS has no protocols in place in case of an incident or outbreak, and no way to effectively call for an industry-wide moratorium?

Why does Nica support TTS when TTS send patients to the county if/when they come up sick — “Sorry, kid, you have a disease. NEXT!”

How interesting that the owner of TTS flew out to LA the very day of Nica’s first tiny, err, “intimate”, meeting for the adult performers’ group over which Nica christened herself queen. Despite the fact that it was apparently Charity Bangs’ brain child. Is Charity still involved with the organization, or has Nica alienated her already, too?

One last thought on .xxx at the XBIZ EU show — a tweet from prolific performer Sara Jay (someone who, unlike January Seraph, porn fans and producers have actually heard of):

Sara tweeted: “Just sat thru an .xxx seminar today @xbiz eu ..was a pathetic attempt 2 sell us some unnecessary bs & segregate us from the rest of internet.

    Stay classy, January!

  3. Michael Whiteacre says:

The joke here is that, just as AHF (which considers straight porners to be a bunch of icky “breeders”) thinks Shelley Lubben is credible and representative of performers, ICM Registry thinks January Seraph is a respected, influential “name” performer.

ICM, like AHF, is an outside group that is preying upon the adult industry.

They use the adult industry for money and publicity. They don’t know this business, they don’t know the people, they don’t understand their needs, and they don’t want to.

ICM, Pink Cross, AHF, and TTS are parasites. Get a lit cigarette and burn these fucking gnats off the industry’s hide.

  4. Julie Meadows says:

Everyone knows .XXX is just a way to make money. The adult industry has its domains in place and never asked for any outsider to step in and create more ways for them to spend money when they don’t actually need the extra domains.

Oh, and FSC is @FSCArmy — You forgot to add that in your reportage.
