The Pink Cross Financials 2008

NL-This is the 2008 tax return info for The Pink Cross. I believe it is useful to know how much money is being collected and spent by a non-profit that is involved in the adult industry. More orgs to come…

Why not post the most recent six figure return from 2009, since it lists 2008 and 2009? Wasn’t 2008 their startup year? Last year’s income was $125,100.00.

  2. Julie,
I may be mistaken on this but I am pretty sure that non-profits are not required to file by the normal April 15 eadline like most taxpayers. As yo can see on the above posted tax return, it was recieved in June 2009. I;m not sure if its on this site or another site, but you can see that AIM, for years, has not filed their previous years return until November of the following year.AIM has done this consistantly for the past several years. There is nothing wrong with that, just ointing it out.

I am pretty sure that neither AIM or Pink cross have yet filed their 2009 returns. There is nothing out of the ordinary about this.

ANd regarding Cindi’s posting of Shelley and Pink Cross articles and such,,you might also note that there is PLENTY of questioning of Shelley’s motives on this site. Cindi has never censored anything you, or anyone else has said about Shelley. ANd as far as ‘why’ Cindi posts things for the Pink Cross there is a little thing I think is called FREEDOM OF SPEECH, and contrrary to popular opinion here, Shelley and Cindi have thhe very same rights as any one else to express their opinions.

Why dont you question why AVN never prints anything that paints the industy in a bad light? Of course, AVN is not required to do so, and they exercise their rights just like Cindi does.

Freedom of speech is a bitch when someone disagrees with yo isnt it? I may disagree with what you say, but I will fight to the end to protect your right to say it. ANd nobody should ever have to advocate for something they dont believe in just to satisfy those who dont agree with them. IF yo dont like what Cindi or shelley stand for then argue your points.

A few weeks ago Steele said he wouldnt answer my questions becuase of the way I treated him here, and called him names…….I wonder if the same applies to shelley answering your questions, based on the things you have said about her? Well Jerry, should Shelley answer Julies questions after the way she has been treated here? LOL

  3. Julie Meadows says:

What? The Pink Cross’ 2009 financial information is available on the site. How else would I know what the total?

Also, I am not criticizing free speech, what I’m criticizing is making your livelihood off of the adult industry and promoting someone who wants your livelihood to end. And I didn’t point out Cindy specifically. You did. And free speech also pertains to me and my right to say what I think, as it also is about you, and your right to say what you think, but it still doesn’t address the issue. Why would someone who thrives off of the adult industry accept help from someone who wants it to go away? It’s a question that deserves an answer. It’s a valid question.

“Why dont you question why AVN never prints anything that paints the industy in a bad light?” Because porn is their business! Unlike Shelley they don’t want porn to go away. What a stupid question.

“Freedom of speech is a bitch when someone disagrees with yo isnt it?” Is that what this is? You disagreeing with me? Just answer the question.

“I may disagree with what you say, but I will fight to the end to protect your right to say it. ” What are you even disagreeing with? I have seen no statement blatantly disagreeing with me, just babbling about AIM and AVN. It’s a simple question.

“IF yo dont like what Cindi or shelley stand for then argue your points.” I do! All over my site. All. Over. My. Site. What statements of relevance have you even added to this, so far?

“I wonder if the same applies to shelley answering your questions, based on the things you have said about her?” Oh, so now you’re suddenly aware of the points I argue??

“Well Jerry, should Shelley answer Julies questions after the way she has been treated here? LOL” What are you laughing out loud about? You’re obviously commissioned by her to argue for her. If your the best she’s got she doesn’t have much at all.

My question is still unanswered. It’s either money, or friendship or both. Personally, I’m all over anything Shelley can produce about herself and her organization, at this point. It’s all implicating and a gold mine of nonsense and weirdness. Her Pink Cross Amazon.com wishlist includes Avon GLAZEWEAR Diamonds Lipstick Lustrous Berry, Guess Gold by Guess for Women, .25 oz Mini EDP, Avon Flavor Savers Lip Gloss, and Avon TRUE COLOR Eyeshadow Quad Really? The colors Shelley, herself wears? Shades are black, dark gray, light gray and pink. How is this necessary for a woman getting out of porn? They are the colors a hooker wears on her eyes, or a mod model from the ’60s. They sure as hell are Shelley’s colors. How does this help women who’ve been abused and want out? Do you truly know what kind of person you’re supporting? Someone who requires the person to already have a full time job before they can get long term help? Someone who needs Avon GLAZEWEAR Diamonds Lipstick Lustrous Berry as a gift for a woman who just needs a new job and her rent paid? The very glamorous Shelley Lubben? I hope she pays you well to troll sites and speak the word, because I do not see where the majority of her income goes to helping people. Lobbying and travel and going to conventions, yes. Housing and counseling and education and medical care for ex-performers, no.

  4. Shelley’s taste in lipstick makes her a hooker? Julie, do you dislike women that are hotter? Self esteem issue? Or trying to drum up interest in your documentary about nothing? You say on your site that your husband hates his job and that you need donations to keep from being homeless. Why don’t you get a job? I spell checked this time, so you can find something more important to complain about instead of my bad spelling.

Julie talks about her dislike for Dana D’armond on XXXporntalk.com.
“Julie Meadows helped answer some questions about Dana’s work ethic over on DF’s blog:
“I had to get paperwork from her on a set (I quit doing scenes in 2004 and took an administrative job in 2006 to make ends meet), and looked and acted like any “regular” person – no makeup, hair pulled back, jeans, etc… I didn’t know her and my guess is she wouldn’t know me because I wasn’t as highly recognizable as many other actresses. I had to hand her paperwork, walk away, then return for it. She was really shitty to me. Work is work. I’m straightforward. I said “hi” and smiled and handed her her paperwork because there is no reason to do anything else. I write about the women of the industry in the best possible light because I understand what it’s like, but you can tell a lot about a person by the way they treat people at the lowest level. For all she knew I was a production assistant, and it doesn’t matter that I worked in the legal department and was filling in for the production manager, who hadn’t arrived to the office building, yet, or that I used to be an actress, I deserve the same consideration and respect as anyone else, especially someone who makes as little as a production assistant. If you can’t be kind to someone on that level, there is something seriously wrong.

She was a sneering and disdain-oozing person, and I felt really gross being around her. And then I had to hear everyone else from the production department complain about her for the rest f the day after that. Why? I don’t know and I don’t care, only that she does whatever is necessary to make her life better because she should do that for herself. There have only been a handful of women in the industry who have ever been that nasty to me, just by their attitude and demeanor – Brooke Banner, Ava Vincent, and Tera Patrick. And for reasons that will forever be unknown to me.

I understand being sensitive and wearing one’s emotions on one’s sleeve, but looking down your nose at someone you don’t know is something else altogether. That shows a severe lack of sensitivity. You have to have feelings to know that it is wrong to just randomly treat people like they are less than you. You have to be a real person to know your shit does stink, like everyone else’s. I do sincerely hope she does whatever it takes to get back her humanity.”

  5. Julie Meadows says:

BWAHAHAHA!!! “Julie, do you dislike women that are hotter?”

You still can’t answer the question! And a documentary about compassion for sex workers, to you, is “nothing”? Wow. Shelley can’t speak for herself so you’re the replacement. What a joke!

“I spell checked this time…” Thank goodness! You only get four full minutes to do it. lol

You and Lubben are the shallow people here, not me. An Amazon.com Wish List that’s mostly makeup is vain and weird where people actually need help.

I have a job, and my husband has a job, and you are not going to deter me from calling out scam artists. You read my site? Then comment on my site. You’re a chicken shit to read my site and then run back here to make your comments. I don’t claim to be a savior. WHO ARE YOU? Chicken shit jabs while you hide behind “xxxpee-er” is not impressive.

So quoting me talking about someone being rude to me on set means what? ANSWER THE QUESTION! WHY WOULD A POPULAR ADULT BLOG THAT FAVORS PORN, POST A BANNER FOR AN ANTI-PORN PERSON WHO WANTS TO TAKE THE BUSINESS DOWN?

It doesn’t matter what your criticisms of me are because I’m not posing as someone I’m not. I don’t like every person I meet. So what? You’re still not answering the question, and I have every right to write about and say whatever I want, but you can’t answer the question. Who do you work for?

  6. To answer your question Julie….Its for the money.

    Porn is big business.
    Anti porn is big business.

Cindi makes money off this site.

What you are doing here is EXACTLY what they want.

The better question for you is WHy do you keep giving these people that you claim are killing your industry the attention they want? YOU ARE BEING USED HERE. If you stopped responding to this thread it would fade away. But you keep going, EXACTLY like they want, Cindi gets more traffic, and then she charges more for her banner ads. Capitalism at its very best.

ANd then Shelley uses your hate filled posts to solicit more donations from her supporters. This site, and these threads are Shelley’s best advertising.

Or could it be that YOU get more attention HERE than on your own site, and its the attention that you are after. See,,,its a win win for all of you.

Or one could argue that you are putting your personal need for attention ahead of the ineterests of the industry by continuing to give shelley, and yourself this spotlight.

How many times on this site have people said…”Stop giving this lady the attention she is looking for?”
But it is the attention seekers here, like yorself, who just cant pas up this opoportunity to try to get the spotlight. And DONT EVEN accuse me of seeking the spotlight,,,i am anonymous, nobody even knows who I am. Now, doesnt that answer your question as to why I dont ‘out’ myself,,,I dont want the spotlight that you so dearly crave.
I like the way you chastise the person in the above post for putting her comments here instead of on YOUR site……I think we are beginning to see what youre really pissed off at.

Now, please continue to do EXACTLY what they want you to do.

And NOBODY pays me to say anything…..I thought you said somewhere in an ealier post about “getting the facts” What a crock of shit,,,,,you are making that shit up, and you know it, and so does everyone else.

P.s. I willo never read your site, and I will never comment on it becuase I dont want to give you the traffic that comes with my participation.

THANK YOU FOR CONTINUING TO DO WHAT YOU,AND BY DOING IT, SUPPORTING THE PINK CROSS.

  7. Julie Meadows says:

“To answer your question Julie….Its for the money.”

Thank you for answering my question. I am done here. 🙂

  8. You were done here a long time ago. And youre welcome, not only for the naswer to your question in the above post, but for the advice in the above post.
    Hapy landings.

  9. Does no-one find it interesting that 10k was spent on conventions, and only $1171 on financial support?

What are “Supplies” that cost 7k?

At a glance it looks like more was spent on the website than directly helping performers, but perhaps that’s an indication of how vague the categories of spending are. When it comes to seeing how much money was spent on performers it all seems deliberately ambiguous…

Also, $941 on advertising and promotions? All those t-shirts, lanyards, stickers, bags, banner ads, posters, cost $941??!

  10. Wasn,t 2008 the start up year for the ‘non-profit” organization. Wouldnt you expect there to be high start up costs for things like ‘Supplies’ and legal necessities, as there would be for any other business.Anybody who has ever started a business knows that there can be many unexpected start up costs. And yes, these government forms can be deliberately ambiguous. EVERYTHING costs money, except the free advertising that these threads provide. I’m sure Shelley is thankful for all your contributions.

  11. Well two things here –

    1) the ambiguity is not on the part of the government: those categories such as “Gift Cards”, and “Supplies” have been typed in by the organization. If “Supplies” is a word chosen to describe legal fees, start-up costs, and so forth, it’s a bad description. A misleading one too.

    2) You seem to be implying that speaking out against something, or simply asking a question is intrinsically counter-productive, because it generates “free publicity”. I’d love to see you expand on this idea – surely it applies to other situations too.

The whistle-blowers at Enron for example who exposed corporate financial scandals – did their actions just end up promoting Enron?

Of course, that example has little to do with anything in this thread – but the fact remains, you’ve brought up that argument more than once, the logic must surely apply to broader situations?

  12. Enron whistle blowers were reproting actual crimes.
The ‘questions’ here seem a more accusatory than inquisitive.

And the free publicity…..The hate filled posts here, are exactly the type of material that can be used very effectivley when solicitng donations from the ‘type’ of people who would be apt to support her cuase.

I would imagine that line entitled,,”Proffessional Fees and other payments to independant contractors” would cover leagal expenses. And like any other onprofit start up, you have to have legal advice, and those services cost money.

Start up costs can incule everything from computers, office supplies(desks, phones, lights, printers, pens, paper, printer ink, shelves, file cabinets, chairs,) Go to any office building,,,,everything you see in that office costs
money. There are two ‘typed in’words….’supplies” and ‘misc. expenses’. What other word should be used to describe these expenses? The telephone bill is listed seperately.

And as far as being ‘intrinsically’ counter productive…..in this particular form, and what is being done HERE in particular, is counter productive for those who are doing the ‘questioning.’ What goes on here is way beyond “questioning” the motives of pink cross.

  13. Julie Meadows says:

“You were done here a long time ago. And youre welcome, not only for the naswer to your question in the above post, but for the advice in the above post.
Hapy landings.” Shit. Are you drunk when you comment, ‘Joe Not-Know’? (lol) There is a spell check option here. You get at least four full minutes. What does that mean, anyway? And why are you so devoted to The Pink Cross? Are you hot for Shelley? (lol) Just asking…

You don’t seem to question much where Shelley’s organization is concerned. Oh, but then again, she doesn’t own it, and you don’t actually care about porn stars, right? You haven’t done any investigative work. I guess you’re happy being a faceless, nameless attacking person. We’re only asking questions here. No harm in that.

P.S. – Thanks for the send off, I guess. “You were done here a long time ago.” If I was “done here a long time ago”, I wouldn’t have been able to comment “a long time ago”. What is “a long time ago” here? A week? (lol)

  14. Cocaine_Incorporated says:

Here is when the IRS comes knocking at your door for answers:

2008 (not sure about present)Pink Cross Foundation President, Shelley Lubben. 2009 Pink Cross Foundation Executive Director, Shelley Lubben (that’s a director.) 2009 Pink Cross Foundation Secretary / Treasurer, Garrett Lubben (that is actually 2 officer positions.)

Pink Cross Foundation 2009 Tax Return, Part VI- Governance, Management and Disclosure, Section A- Governing Body and Management, Number 2.:

“Did any officer, director, trustee, or key employee have a family relationship or a business relationship with any other officer, director, trustee, or key employee?” The answer on the return: NO.

And that, my friends, is providing false information to the Internal Revenue Service and, depending on their judgment, can lead to a short prison sentence. Will they determine that it is fraud, or just negligence and let them off the hook? I don’t know. It is an important question for a charity. Do you think it was negligence and they just forgot they were married, or do you think they were intentionally trying to deceive the IRS into thinking one family wasn’t controlling the charity in their own best interests?

And I guess now we can call him “joe don’t know shit about statistical analysis, the scientific method, what constitutes a crime or the Internal Revenue Service.” And the US Supreme Court set aside part of Enron boss Jeffrey Skilling’s fraud conviction, saying it was “flawed” and unconstitutional, so you should pick some better examples “joe…” or at least read some non porn news.

Who do you think runs most charities? Husbands, wives, children, and other family members. It’s who they can usually trust instead of hiring outsiders.

Do you do anything to help anyone in this industry? Pink Cross has helped many women/men despite what you think of Shelley herself. Many in this industry support her and what her organization does. You make it seem like she’s Pastor Melissa Scott flying around in private jets and living in mansions. Go after someone like her.

How much do you think an charity trying to help porn stars takes in? This isn’t Children Of The Night which probably makes millions because they deal with underage prostitutes with many in mainstream Hollywood donating. There have been many testimonials from former performers who have been helped by Pink Cross. Many currently in this industry publicly and privately support what Shelley does.

By reading xxxChurch’s tax records, they have crazy spending habits that to me seem crazy but I’m not behind the scenes in their organization knowing what’s really going on. $100,000 on travel, $46,000 on internet hosting, $43,000 on adverting, and $5,000 on postage. Postage?? But they probably get more donations because they travel with Ron Jeremy doing debates together which gets that organization a lot of free press.

You go against Pink Cross because porn stars who want help have to get a full time job and completely leave porn and receive no residuals from porn. Well of course they can’t receive anything from porn. If someone has a drinking problem, would you tell them to keep on working at the local bar? And they need a job I would assume so they can start to get back on their feet again so they won’t fall back into porn. It would defeat Shelley’s purpose in helping these women if they’re still working in porn.

People go against the gift cards she gives out to shop at Target or Walmart. I have heard how many in this industry conned Shelley and also xxxChurch and took the cash that was given to them to spend it on drugs or give it to their boyfriends. Many never intended on leaving porn but wanted the money Shelley and these other organizations used to freely give out. So she either now gives out these cards or pays a specific bill where she knows exactly where the money is going to.

You go against the wishlist she has with the makeup she asks on it. Those are to put into the handbags Pink Cross gives out at the conventions they go to. If I’m feeling like shit, a bag of beauty products would make any woman feel a little bit better for the day. I saw a video once of Shelley preparing these bags and the process of what goes into collecting everything.

She helps those who want to be helped. his industry chews up and spits out the performers while no one helps them. But a former porn star is trying to help the best she can and you find fault in that?

I’m sure Shelley knows the industry will never be shut down. But like many, she wants to see a safer environment for the performers and wants them treated better instead of how badly they are treated by the people who run the industry. I had been minutes away many times from posting about the new rapes and gangrapes happening on & off set currently in this industry. But I’m then told I can’t or else I’ll be the one arrested because I would be making public of an ongoing police investigation.

You make it seem like this industry is full of rainbows and butterflies when it’s mostly a sewer of lost souls being abused, manipulated, conned, and robbed constantly by the people who run this industry. Many leave this industry in more debt than when they had first entered it. Many leave this industry as drug addicts when they never touched drugs before. Many leave this industry with STDs when they never had them before. But the constant lie put out into the mainstream press by the Jenna Jameson’s of the world that said how empowering this industry and a great career for women because of how much “power and control” they have. Jenna never had any power. It was given to her by her current husband Jay. Then the so-called queen of porn is crying on Oprah asking what am I going to tell my kids when they’re older.

  16. Cocaine_Incorporated says:

@xxxpee-er: I think Julie is saying that Shelley Lubben’s makeup makes her look like a hooker because, well, she does look like a hooker. Watch Shelley’s videos, when she says porn star, she says “they” when she talks about prostitutes, she says “we.” I, personally, am working on Julie’s documentary, and there is some great content from some great women.

By the way, Julie had an administrative job for 4 years after porn, and she quit a few months ago because she was treated poorly, it had nothing to do with her not wanting to have a job. I told her to quit! She put the donation thing up, not asking for charity, but asking for people who like her writing to support it, she works hard at her posts (10-12 hours a day plus, trust me)…the homeless thing was a joke with a funny cartoon…it’s called humor, and those that read her blog realize that. Unlike many women, she wants to feel like she is productive and provides something, and she’s trying to do that through writing…she works hard at it and she’s pretty damn good.

Her husband is not going to let her be homeless. He is going to let her express herself and pursue her dreams however she envisions them. He owns his own financial firm and is unhappy about one specific contract, helping a start up firm that takes up most of his time for much less than what he’s worth (though really that’s none of your fucking business, nor has anythng to do with her efforts to make money as a writer.) It is the downfall of taking on projects on spec…and sometimes you have to cut your losses. Now, if you want to take up specific issue with her husband, you can find me on Julie’s blog under the same moniker, but you’ll be getting in way over your head at that point.

  17. And to set the record straight in case I get asked this. I am not affiliated with anyone and speak for no one. I am religious but not as religious as Shelley is. I don’t want porn shut down because it will just go underground or out of the country which will be far worse for every performer. I am for condom use because you wouldn’t have the STD rate as out of control as it is now in porn. I support the performers but I’m against the people who run this industry.

  18. Hey, all this is great and much appreciated! Who else gets this kind of help for free over the internet? We’ll be sure to talk to our accountant about these concerns above and if they need fixing, you better believe they’ll be fixed!

  19. Houstondon says:

Darrah: “Who do you think runs most charities? Husbands, wives, children, and other family members.”

The IRS requires disclosure on such matters when it comes to board members or others in control. It is allowed but you have to state so on the forms, inviting additional scrutiny to protect the public and from abuses by self serving people.

Darrah: “Pink Cross has helped many women/men despite what you think of Shelley herself. Many in this industry support her and what her organization does. Many currently in this industry publicly and privately support what Shelley does.”

Your slant on SL/PC is that “many” have been helped, presumably in a significant manner. In an industry that includes thousands of people at any given time, I think it would be fair to ask for the names of at least 20 currently employed people in porn that financially support her. While that wouldn’t constitute “many”, at least it would bolster the nonsensical argument that she has any significant support from inside porn. I’d also like to know what kind of help and the extent of it, so far very little of either has been proven.

Darrah: “She helps those who want to be helped. his industry chews up and spits out the performers while no one helps them. But a former porn star is trying to help the best she can and you find fault in that?”

She uses people to further her own bitter agenda. She was never a “star” and was unable to make a go of it given her own failings, now she tries her best to shut the industry down. It’s about choice, and while I support laying out the facts for people to choose their fate, she doesn’t want people to have the right to pick their own working conditions, knowing full well that most will work without condoms, without residuals, and without big brother intervening more directly.

Darrah: “You make it seem like this industry is full of rainbows and butterflies when it’s mostly a sewer of lost souls being abused, manipulated, conned, and robbed constantly by the people who run this industry. Many leave this industry in more debt than when they had first entered it. Many leave this industry as drug addicts when they never touched drugs before. Many leave this industry with STDs when they never had them before.”

Those “lost souls” go in knowingly, make a ton of cash, and tend to have had plenty of experience hustling clients (with all the issues of drug abuse and STDs) before they started performing. How many started off as strippers or working in sex related businesses? How many had the education or requisite skills to join the workforce in a professional capacity? What you will find are women that make use of their genetic gifts and personal likes (sex, partying, etc.) rather than work for minimum wage in retail or crap jobs, some parlaying it into a lifetime career while others find a sugar daddy or save enough to finance some other goal.

  20. Hey don, can you please comment on joe’s argument in “Funniest thing about the Cal/Osha hearings”? thanks

  21. I like what HoustonDon has to say!!

Prove it–some names or at least examples.
Or, you’ve been “told”, like your “favorite OP/ED” stance

  22. Houstondon says:

    Redgoat, thanks!

Origen01, I’m not sure there is much more that can be said without rehashing old arguments (and the Colonel smacked him around quite well enough). The adult industry has always had detractors and those wanting to shut it down via all sorts of means. Using health and safety codes is nothing new and those like Joe suggesting otherwise lack the history many of the rest of you have. It would also be tragically easy to form limited partnerships to jump through the hoops necessary to avoid fines but it’s easier to just go underground.

As far as Pink Cross/ S. Lubbens is concerned, she can dance around the issues all she likes but those that live by the sword of government regulation often find it cuts both ways. I don’t wish ill of anyone but it is clear that whatever “help” she provides her flock, she is fleecing them for far more. Even with pending cuts in California, there are tons of government social services available to assist those who want out of porn, none of them forcing the performers to toss their former peers to the wolves in one last “performance”.
