Blood, Sweat and Sex: My Hard Life in Porn
by Aurora Snow Mar 18, 2013 4:45 AM EDT

The performers may look like they’re in ecstasy, but the physical pain and endurance that goes into sex for the camera would make an NFL linebacker weep. By Aurora Snow

Portrait of me in the middle of a typical porn scene: Sweat drips down my face, my overworked legs are wobbly, my jaw might ache from being open too long while my neck burns from being twisted into an awkward angle.

Being an adult performer is not easy money, as the preachers like to say. It’s a little like being a high-risk professional athlete—stamina is required. While everyone is entitled to love or hate “skin flicks,” I think most people harbor misconceptions about the work. Remember that pornography is shot with the viewer in mind. In the summer there is no air-conditioning on the set (too noisy) and it’s not always, or even often, glamorous.

Like many other adult actresses, my first few scenes, which were shot in May of 2000, were the stereotypical easy-money kind: some regular vaginal sex where I played the wide-eyed innocent guided by the seasoned male. Fresh meat sells well—the roughing-up came later.
Over time the “new girl” scenes no longer appealed to consumers, who want to see diversification from steadily working performers, and scenes that progressively up the ante. Over the last decade this process has gained momentum—girls that enter porn in 2013 have to be ready for extreme acts earlier on in their careers. Because of this acceleration, there is about to be a generation of porn performers who have spent the majority of their years in porn doing extreme sex acts. I am one of them. I’ve smiled through gonzo scenes, but afterward often went home sick, curled up in a ball and physically nauseated. There is always a price to pay; the kind of damage we’ve inflicted on our bodies won’t catch up with us for years. Hopefully it won’t be lasting, but we’ll be the first generation of adult actresses to know.
Adult actresses are prone to internal tears the way an athlete might be at risk for injuring a tendon. No amount of stretching can prepare you for what will happen on an adult set if things go wrong. No one likes to talk about injuries (porn-girl etiquette), so it’s hard to pinpoint how frequently they occur. Injuries are not routine, as far as I know, but several of us, myself included, have experienced their fair share. My first on-set injury happened with a rapacious male performer who held little regard for my body and slammed into me like a rag doll. It was the first time I’d been torn; the director suggested we use extra lube and keep going. (On days like that a tube of Neosporin became my best friend after work). It was excruciating, but the show must go on. No one gets paid if it doesn’t.
A rising performer, Amy Brooke, entered the adult business in 2009, and has already garnered the AVN award for “most outrageous sex scene.” With over 200 films under her belt, Brooke is aware of the chances she takes dedicating herself to her fans’ entertainment. “Your body can’t take doing that every single day—it might break or start prolapsing.” Strenuous scenes can take a toll on the body over time, thus limiting a career to a certain number of years. Sensitive flesh is pounded raw, and muscles are stretched to their limits. In this line of work a girl cannot work every day; she needs “recovery” days. Fortunately I’ve been lucky, but I know others who have been injured from the same sorts of scenes. It’s a high-risk, high-dollar job. Taking it in the booty makes it even higher, paying fifty percent more on average than vaginal sex.
On some days a tube of Neosporin became my best friend after work.
Though less injury prone, men in porn don’t have it easy either. Men face the embarrassment of not being able to do their jobs—performance issues can lead to a very long day. Not all male performers are attracted to the women they work with, nor can they always perform with robotic consistency (hence the modest-sized pool of male talent) and all in front of an audience. If a male performer is only flying at half-mast, he may have to spend more time trying to get ready than actually performing. Fluffers are a myth, girls are rarely on set to prep the male talent (though some women have been known to act as personal fluffers for their boyfriends). Knowing that the entire crew is watching him fail only makes things worse. I’ve seen cameramen who live to double as performers and eagerly await moments like these. Thanks to the debut of Pfizer’s little blue pill in 1998, performance issues are less common than they use to be. Though most don’t admit it publicly, I believe the majority of men in porn use a prescription performance enhancer; it’s a tool of the trade.
Iconic adult actress Kristina Rose has appeared in over 400 movies and earned several awards for her peak performances. Rose knows this occupation isn’t without repercussions, and feels there is a give and take to her job. “Porn is easy in that I don’t have to wake up every morning at 6 a.m. and get ready to go to work and that I have the luxury of having days off during the week, but porn does affect everything in my life. It is a harder job than you think, you have to watch out for STDs and deal with all different kinds of people. It also affects your personal life.” Despite the industry’s self-regulated testing, STDs remain a workplace hazard.
And, while the money is good, it’s not great. Not the sort of money that mainstream celebrities can count on. The long-lasting social repercussions, along with the wear and tear on the body  aren’t accompanied by the payday that a professional athlete received. Adult actresses earn a flat scene rate. No residuals, no hourly pay, and certainly no overtime—a girl earns the same amount of money for a three-hour day as she does for a two-hour day on set. And performers in the adult industry generally do not collect unemployment or workman’s comp. Producers offer no healthcare or retirement accounts. We are considered independent contractors, which producers interpret to mean: if anything bad happens, it’s on you.
Adult performers might have one of the most divisive jobs in America. Being in the adult business carries a stigma that will follow a person for the rest of their life, and it can affect your ability to pursue another career in the future.
Yet the job is not without its redeeming qualities and unique experiences. There is no judgment within porn—it can be an outlet for sexual fantasies, helping those with a fetish feel accepted and less outcast. The movies we make can get a soldier through a long deployment, help a married couple spice up their love life, or provide an unconventional tutorial about sex. The good pay for relatively infrequent hours worked, not to mention the fame and the loyal fan following, create opportunities to have a voice in our community. Sex doesn’t just sell porn, it sells movies, advertisements and most of what we buy, and the adult industry fills a need within our culture. Whether or not you indulge in this form of entertainment, take a moment to consider the hard work (words not often associated with porn) that went into to creating it. It’s not the easy payday so many assume it is.http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2013/03/18/blood-sweat-and-sex-my-hard-life-in-porn.html

Its enough to break yer heart aint it ?

Shes a real trooper eh ?

I’m surprised she didn’t whinge on about how she gets period pains, split ends & blotchy skin from wearin too much make up !

Some womin shouldn’t be allowed out in public, online or not, without a chaperone .

Her move to the countryside done her some good but Aurora has been steadily progressing down hag street for a long time now .

  2. Carnal Comics Says:

In the article, Aurora says “In the summer there is no air-conditioning on the set (too noisy).” When I was an extra in Bring It On, I got a sun burn from being out in the sun. During a day of shooting in Oceanside, I made the mistake of not taking enough precaution in limiting the effects of the sun. During the filming at a Chula Vista high school, it was the opposite problem.

It got extremely cold at night. I was wearing multiples of clothing and I was still cold. When filming was going on, we had to take off our jackets because the jackets would destroy the illusion of the time of year that the movie was supposed to take place. Each night, we would get there at 6pm and be there until dawn.

Some guy was complaining about the filming disrupting his sleep cycle but I was used to staying up very late at night. As the nights went on, more and more people dropped out and they were replaced with standees. I continued working all 11 days that they needed me.

I don’t remember air conditioning being on during any of the movies and TV shows I was in. All of the work was in San Diego county, mostly for Stu Segall Productions. Aurora compares porn actresses and actors to athletes. When I go to my local 24 Hour Fitness, I have noticed fans going but it would be hot anyway. I don’t know often they have the air conditioning on but there is not enough done to make the place cooler.

  3. Michael Whiteacre Says:

When I moved to LA in 1993, disenchanted with the prospect of working in the field of law, my main jobs were: journalist covering current movies in production and unit publicity. Later, I was able to achieve my goal of moving into production and distribution, but I still did “on the set” articles and interviews until 2005. The pay wasn’t great for these pieces — it was assumed that young writers ‘loved’ to hang out on ‘glamorous’ sets – so I did a lot of them. The number of sets I’ve visited — mainstream low and big budget, and adult — these past 20 years is almost unfathomable. I can tell you firsthand, I have personally seen far more injuries, illnesses, and even assaults on non-porn productions than I’ve ever even heard of on adult movie sets. I have seen extras treated like cattle — literally herded and corralled — exposed to the elements and fed nothing more than snacks. I have seen people sign up for this kind of treatment in hopes that it might lead to them being plucked out of obscurity, given a line of dialogue, and Taft Hartley’d into SAG eligibility. I have personally worked on second unit crews that were not even provided lunch (“Are we not men?!?”). Moviemaking is a rough business; as Bill Murray once noted, making a movie is “like moving a piano. You’re gonna get banged up.”

Yes, they turn the A/C off for sound. The laws of acoustics are not unique to adult film production. And you know, professional athletes playing their sport in sub-freezing temperatures, or blistering heat, also have to be resilient. Not to mention, they face the likelihood of severe crippling, or even life-threatening, injury every time they step on the field.

As a final thought — I’m sure it’s entirely coincidental that these years-old recollections of Ms. Snow’s have been revived at a time when adult film workplace regulations are in the news, being pushed by an extremely well-funded organization.

  4. Karmafan Says:

Kinda reminds me of a story my mom told about when she was a kid. She grew up on a farm and had to walk 5 miles every day to meet the bus at the intersection and walk back home in the afternoon after school. In the dead of winter with snow up to her ankles she went, It was a long cold walk (uphill both ways).

My point being Aurora prolly remembers the conditions being worse then they actually were. Otherwise she could have got up, put her clothes on, and go find a easier job slinging hash or working a cash register.

  5. Bla de Bla Says:

    @Karmafan

    I disagree with you.

I have interacted with Aurora on Twitter & on her site & she has left me in no doubt shes got ideas way above her station.

Believe me, I’m far from an obnoxious judgmental prick but when someone is gettin highfalutin with me & needs takin down a peg or two I go about callin a spade a spade until they come to their senses.

1′st thing that alarmed me about her was her professed stance on the sexual attitudes of the government of Singapore .

I was like “Hold on a wee minute there Aurora … I like that Orientals have their own goofy way of doing things & livin their lives especially within the borders of their own territory ”

She was like “Well we as Americans have a duty to make sure we oppress tha living fuck outa tha planet until they all “Walk this Way & Talk this Way ”

I was like “Calm down bitch, one uptight obnoxious England is enough ”

Followin that I gave her a touch of “CRAZY” about the Aurora shootings .

I think I may of spooked her or maybe she didn’t want my far out demonic style messages about natural justice & death on her website but to cut a long story short tha bitch “Net Murdered” me & deleted me left right & centre, even on posts I wasn’t messin around on, no warning, no explanation just brutal massacre … fuckin hypocritical cunt !

Point I was makin to her was shes an Adult Entertainer … nothing else .

She wants to get uppity ? Lets get uppity .

WTF is sexy about censorship or a miserable communist one world government ?

Where tha fuck does she get off ?

The bitch is power trippin & has lost the plot & as a result of her onset of Haggishness her sex appeal is rapidly dwindling.

Im not sayin she cant have an opinion or voice that opinion Im sayin I know nothing about rocket science
so I dont try to tell tha Pope how to pray .

Shes a fading one dimensional Adult Entertainer & she needs to recognize her role& work on it, the role she choose .

If not then she has to accept what she gets back when she decides to go about pissin into tha wind .

Shes obviously not stupid but neither is she wise & in my opinion she is trying to take advantage of her public status & push some miserable political agenda .

  6. Bla de Bla Says:

@ No one in particular …

Wat tha hell kinda title is …

“Blood, Sweat and Sex: My Hard Life in Porn” anyway ?

Holy Fuck ! that’s about as sexy & alluring as a boot in tha balls !

Who wants to read one of the most popular mainstream Adult Actress’s of her generation writing about anything after she set the tone with a title that’s at best suited to a niche middle aged minority ?!!!

Shes obviously disappeared head first away up inside the asshole of her own delusion.

Either that or tha regular work she done for Kink.com is wearing on her & shes obviously getting tatty & frayed around the edges if not outright coming apart at tha seams AGAIN !

I say AGAIN because I suspect she was mentally, spiritually & physically running herself into the ground trying to FORCE the industry & audiences to conform to her will before she moved to the Countryside & regained a bit of her composure.

She needs tellin, obviously shes surrounded herself with brown nosers or those with two faces & soft soap who are eagerly anticipating & are secretly enjoying the progress her self inflicted demise.

Donno bout tha rest of you but if Im 15 & navigating the porn scene I’m most definitely not fantasizing about the hard life of a veteran performer squawking about Blood, Sweat & Sex ! … I’m thinking get that horrible old miserable cunt outa the industry & let me at the Good Stuff !!

Aurora had great potential at one time but for me she never fulfilled it, she settled for the sandy foundations of the hard sell & now shes obviously left herself with no suitable artistic direction to turn other than downwards .

  7. Will Ryder Says:

Aurora Snow is quite bright and I enjoyed working with her in Not the Bradys XXX a few years back. I think all people go through a life evolution and maybe Michael Whiteacre is right about the timing of her words but I for one would never bash her for her story even if some of it is unflattering for our industry. She is a true veteran of this business and in my opinion can state whatever she wants and has earned the right to be listened to if not respected but then again people have the right to respond in whichever way they wish.

Because I do remember that Aurora was a pretty smart cookie I’m sure she knew quite well of the risks and hazards posed in this or any other physical industry and the toll it could have on the body. She was one of the busiest girls in the business performing some seriously extreme acts for a long time and I am sure she made a ton of money over the years. That was her choice as nobody held a gun to her head. I just hope she doesn’t follow some others and bash an industry that was actually pretty good to her. She like any person in the industry has been free to depart anytime they wish as there is nobody forcing them to work plus I think it odd when I hear a list of negative items such as no overtime or health insurance when you are pulling down $1000-$1500 each day you step foot on set for over a decade. I wish her nothing but the best and will always appreciate her for being a part of X-Play’s biggest movie ever. All the best Aurora Snow.

  8. Bla de Bla Says:

    @ Will Ryder

    Earned the right ?

    EARNED ?

1′stly rights are not Earned they simply either exist or they dont otherwise they are privileges selectively granted by the “Übermensch” to subhumans they find pleasing when they are trained to sit up & beg.

Every now & again blood must be spilled to ensure rights are respected but they can not be earned, lost or won, they just either exist or they dont .

Nobody in any walk of life has the right to be listened to … NOBODY !

We all SHOULD have the right to express ourselves but as I pointed out the Anti Social likes of Aurora Snow herself think that only a select few should have the right to express themselves unless of course they are expressing something she either agrees with or finds pleasing in its presentation.

So help me out here, what must the rest of the planet do to magically EARN this mythical right to be listened to ?

What mysterious criteria must we fulfill other than live in fear of our lives & liberty from the brutal administration of an Orwellian police state ?

Its not my intention to belittle what is otherwise a reasonably balanced & fair comment in its sentiment toward someone you have personal knowledge of but I find it hard not to object to your skewed harmful ideas about all our rights .

If Aurora Snow or anyone else wants to snidely play the role of “The Enemy Within” thats up to them but I for one will not sit by & allow her like to harm me as though I am a subhuman & must listen to her talk complete shit in regards to her role within the adult entertainment industry .

2′ndly as you yerself pointed out she has zero credibility to speak about anything of the like when she like everyone else was & is free to leave the industry at any time .

No one here in these comments can put hand on heart & say with 100% certainty thats shes not pushing a miserable agenda .

Now if she wants to give constructive criticism or helpful advice then only a fool wouldn’t respect her opinion but that isnt what shes doing .

Shes clearly power tripping & preaching & needs to shut tha fuck up if not for her own good then for the good of her fellow professionals until such time she can say something that isnt going to harm them & the community at large .

  9. Will Ryder Says:

    To Bla de Bla:

I just listened to a few parts of Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon playing in sync with The Wizard of Oz on YouTube to see if it is true what the reefer madness crowd has been saying all these years and you make a little bit of sense in your somewhat angry rant. I do agree completely with your paragraph 7 and 12 and some of the others too. I might agree with all of it if I smoked pot but I don’t. Maybe if I play Strawberry Letter 23 by the Brothers Johnson backwards I will agree with everything you write. I understand what you are saying but I don’t take this stuff too seriously. You certainly have a right to your opinion and you do make a few valid points.

  10. Bla de Bla Says:

    @ Will Ryder

I’m glad yer havin such a good time ya fuckin space cadet !

That aside, believe it or not Im not particularly angry, I’m well below boiling point & not so much ranting but more shadow boxing as I go through tha motions here.

I’m just callin a spade a spade & tearing down any harmful window dressing that might be obscuring the matter I have taken time to address .

  11. Karmafan Says:

Sounds to me like she is biting the hand that feeds her. She probably is doing what just about every other girl in porn does…

make porn movies to become famous and then either go on the strip circuit or escort. Thats where the real money is.

  12. Carnal Comics Says:

When I interviewed Aurora for the Aurora Snow comic book, she did not mention being injured on porn sets. Aurora was much more positive about the x-rated industry when she talked to me. The severe injury, not porn related, she told me about didn’t get in the comic book. The publisher made the decision of what incidents in Aurora’s life were important for her biography. Aurora told me she fractured both of her heel bones from “running between 5 and 7 miles a day, everyday.” Aurora thought she would have to wait 2 years to run again. In the interview, Aurora tells how she found out about the fractures.

Jamie Gardner: How did you fracture your heel?

Aurora Snow: They’re both stress fractures because I was running so much. Your body isn’t meant to run every day like that. The doctor told me that I should have been only running maybe 3 times a week. Especially, with the length that I was running. I wouldn’t just run at the gym. I would go run at a treadmill. I would run at a track. I would run everywhere. I really fell in love with it.

They’re stress fractures and what really kicked it was my dog and I were going downstairs. He’s a big dog, he’s half German Shepard and half Pit. He insists on walking right next to me and they’re kind of narrow stairs. Well, he kind of bumped me and I fell down the stairs but still standing up. So my heels hit every stair on the way down and then I landed on my feet so I thought I was fine. I was fine and then 3 days later I woke up and I couldn’t put pressure on my feet at all.

I couldn’t walk, nothing. And I was supposed to have hard casts but 2 weeks after I injured them, I had to fulfill a dance booking. So I had to soft cast in crutches. You should have seen the owner’s look, from the club, when I got off the
airplane (on soft casts and crutches). His eyes went red, his jaw dropped and he goes “my god, why are you here? You can’t dance.” And I did. It took some alcohol (laughter) but I took off my cast and I got up on stage and I danced. And I fulfilled my contractual obligations.

  13. MrBenGrim Says:

Have any of the haters seen any of Aurora’s scene’s?

Her scenes were brutal by any standard. Im surprised she doesnt have any medical problems.

  14. Bla de Bla Says:

    @MrBenGrim

No one is questioning the quality of her performance & we have all declared our respect & admiration for the status she has earned within the industry.

We are questioning her morality on what we consider an attack by proxy upon everyone involved within the adult industry be they professional performers or mere consumers .

Self defense is illegal nowhere in the world (Yet) so I dont see what you are crying about “Haters” for ?

No one here launched an unprovoked attack upon Aurora, we are only responding to a published article written by her, what has hate got to do with that ?

As for the nature of her scenes ?

What was or is so unique about them ?

You are attributing the nature of an entire era in the Porn industry to her alone as though she has 3 pairs of tits & not just one pair .

Audrey Hollander, Gauge & Jenna Haze to name only 3 girls from the same era have done everything Aurora has done & all 3 are naturally more petite than her .

Yet none of them are attacking the industry & in fact Audrey has recently made a return to action & Gauge is rumored to be discussing a return with various different directors this past few weeks .

If I were to attribute “Brutal” to any of their scenes I’d attribute it to Audrey’s, her scenes make Auroras look outright pretentious which is saying something if you have ever seen Aurora bound, gagged & triple yes Triple penetrated in “Clusterfuck 2″ !

  15. MrWoland Says:

    @Bla de Bla

Not to instigate a fight or anything but you seem to be way overreacting.

She’s putting her perspective on things out there which I think we can all agree on is her right.

Whether you or I read it and how we value what she says is entirely up to you or I.

Do you have her experience? Are you willing to do what she’s done for the money she’s done it for?

If not it seems a bit unfair of you to invalidate her perspective and experience in the way that you seem to do in your posts.

  16. Bla de Bla Says:

    @ MrWoland

It is not her right to needlessly & selfishly attack an industry we all derive pleasure from & has made her who she thinks she is today .

Can you state with 100% certainty that what she has stated is actually factual, is actually her perspective & has no ulterior motive ?

If your answer is yes then you are a liar on top of being a complete fucking idiot .

How the hell can I answer your attempt at a “Leading Question” when it is anatomically impossible for me to even consider doing what you have asked me ?

I have been more than fair with Aurora in these comments & if you actually read my comments instead of reacting emotionally to your notions about my comments you would see that .

I have given Aurora the utmost consideration to the point I have even compared her to 3 other performers from her era .

She was paid no less than those girls for performing nothing more difficult than what they performed so where the hell do you get the notion she alone was somehow under paid ?

I have also laid out where & why I have begun to suspect Aurora of being a bit of an anti social snide cunt.

You have absolutely zero right to question my integrity on this matter because anyone & everyone who has read these comments with even an ounce of impartiality can see that I have been overwhelmingly generous toward Aurora while under this dark cloud she has cast upon herself .

Or to summarize for the less patient who may be reading this …

    FUCK YOU !

  17. Michael Whiteacre Says:

I think she ruined her credibility with her Yes on Measure B column — not because she chose that side (her individual politics are her right, as offensive as they might be to those who value the sexual agency and rights & liberties of performers), but instead because her basis was bullshit. Yes, Ms. Snow made her career performing the kinds of acts she would now have made unlawful, but that’s not the worst of it…

I was on some sets with Ms. Snow back in the day, and I never heard her even ask for condoms to be used, let alone be turned down (granted, I was not on every set), but that’s not the worst of it either…

The fundamental premise of her Yes on B opinion piece seemed to be that producers/directors aren’t looking out for the best interests of the performers. She claimed to be bothered by this, and maintained that, therefore, a government mandate is a good idea. The problem there is, I was also on the set of one of the movies Ms. Snow directed. I was present during the lead-up to the scene, which was a multi-performer scene involving oral, vaginal, anal, A2M and A2M2P. At no point did Ms. Snow offer her performers condoms, or discuss the matter with them. She and the producer had hired these performers (including herself) to engage in condomless sex. Absent was the deep concern for the health of her performers that she later proclaimed in an article published during the Measure B media blitz — and just prior to Ms. Snow embarking on an otherwise scarcely-promoted feature dancing tour.

  18. Karmafan Says:

Makes you wonder if someone donated money to her favorite charity (her checking account) for her to NOW be siding with the AHF?

  19. Will Ryder Says:

Michael Whiteacre makes some good points.

As for Bla de Bla, I’m not so sure. I love that you called me a space cadet! I guess you don’t know me too well. Thanks for the daily laugh I appreciate it.

  20. Bla de Bla Says:

Calm yerself Will , its only my 2′nd day posting here which hardly amounts to “Daily” !

Its a commonly known fact that anyone who listens to that trippy 70′s Prog Rock & isn’t a stoner is without doubt a certifiable SPACE CADET !

  21. Michael Whiteacre Says:

You make a strong case, however my buddy Will might be the exception that proves the rule.

  22. Bla de Bla Says:

Seein is believin & he looks a bit ov a head case to me .

  23. Will Ryder Says:

LOL, I am in post production on our porn movie parody Not the Wizard of Oz XXX and was doing a little research late that night for ideas for our DVD extras when I stumbled across the Pink Floyd/Wizard of Oz conspiracy connection from years back. I don’t believe any of it but it was entertaining. Maybe Bla de Bla is in fact right? What do you think Michael?

  24. Paperchase Says:

I find Ari’s argument interesting because he seeks to impeach Ms. Snow by her own conduct without even specifying how long ago he was on these two sets in which she performed in one movie, and directed in another. He only says it’s “back in the day”.

So if Snow did not raise the condom issue on two sets either personally, or in relation to the performers she was filming years ago, in Ari’s presence, Ari says in sum and substance that she must have no basis for her later position and this “ruins her credibility”.

Perhaps she changed her mind, based on her experiences since Ari last saw her work. That’s hardly enough evidence to assume that she does not have a good faith basis for her present opinion.

    Moving to some non-Ari comments.

I have to laugh when porn people talk about other porn people betraying “the industry” by exercizing their first amendment rights.* What does the “industry” made up of many different production companies and individuals do to deserve the loyalty of its performers?

Does it pay for their health care and testing as a matter of general operation? No, the talent are independant contractors. Does it have a dental plan like say the Marine Corps? Nope. Does it serve some sort of higher purpose such as to protect the country (see the earlier example) Nope. Not unless making money for Manwin is considered a higher purpose.

Is their some sort of Bar type organization that resolves payment disputes when some producer doesn’t pay their help. No.

So why does Ms. Snow owe “loyalty” to some loose collection of people labeled an “industry” which included at various times everyone from Chico Wang to Donny Long? If people want to accuse her of betraying a specific person, that’s another matter, but no independent contractor owes a duty to advocate or adopt certain beliefs that benefit the porn industry, since such an expectation would be only unilateral.

I thought it was mushrooms, not weed. Or was that The Wall and Alice in Wonderland?

One time I took LSD and watched Monty Python’s The Meaning of Life. All the dialogue went right through me and I was focused on the background noise in all the scenes. It was absolutely fascinating, and I have no recollection as to why.

P.S. LSD > Shrooms, cause acid don’t make my tummy hurt.

If you reeeeally want to take a stroll down the garden path, drop a tab and drop the needle on “Echoes, Side 2 on PF’s “Meddle” LP. Yes, I wrote, “LP,” youngsters. And utilize proper headphones, of course (not some fucking plonky earbuds).

    Now back to Aurora…

  27. Michael Whiteacre Says:

Yes, physical labor carries a risk of physical harm. Adult performers are indeed what Nina Hartley calls them: sexual athletes. And the point made above about other performers such as Audrey Hollander and Gauge is also worth noting,

No one’s denying Aurora’s experiences, but the “Wow! Sex with large penises for a long period of time can cause wear and tear” stuff should be quite obvious. Furthermore, as pointed out here, she isn’t someone who did “extreme” scenes occasionally; she made her name as that kind of performer. People can push themselves too hard and, by not giving themselves enough recovery time, end up hurting themselves. This is why intelligent people don’t book a week of physically taxing scenes in a row. You have to know your own body. Does anyone else here remember when Meat Loaf blew his voice out on tour? If you push yourself too hard physically, you can end up injured — whether it be on a job or at the gym or home in bed. Porn can be a difficult job at times, and it’s not for everyone. But if you are injured or upset by your job as an adult performer, and then choose to keep doing it, how is this a newsworthy piece about porn? “My Hard Life in Porn” … as a prolific performer and contract star / director? Please…

  28. Michael Whiteacre Says:

Paperchase — The reason why I question Ms. Snow is laid out quite clearly — she only found this new religion once it was commercially/promotionally advantageous to do so. Here’s another reason: this article is, in my view, aimed at gaining the attention of the anti-porn crowd. Look at the way she goes from “extreme” sex acts to “gonzo.” She knows as well as anyone what gonzo means — porn of ANY kind where there is an acknowledgement of the camera — yet she not only uses the term without defining it for the masses, she implies via context that it is defined the way the Gail Dines/anti-porn lobby uses it: “extreme, violent or degrading pornography.” She is bolstering a demonstrably false proposition of the anti-porn crowd when she, as an experienced performer and director, knows better.

What I can’t stand is hypocrisy. I was told today that on her personal website Ms. Snow — who threw her support behind a law which would deny performers and producers the right to film condomless sex — features porn without condoms.

  29. Carnal Comics Says:

An example of early gonzo that Aurora did was More Dirty Debutantes 152. Ed Powers was one of the early people to popularize gonzo. There is a vast difference between a typical Ed Powers scene and the many sex scenes that Aurora performed for companies like Anabolic and Sin City (not all her scenes for them were extreme). When Aurora did her first gangbang for Anabolic, she did not do anal.

Even though Chris Alexander was persistant in trying to talk Aurora in to doing anal, she had a choice in whether she would do it or not. Aurora also continued to do scenes that would have fit in well with porn from the ’80s, such as her work for Will Ryder. Ryder’s movies are not very raunchy, not that there is anything wrong with that.

  30. Bla de Bla Says:

Such a loada lofty nonsense Paperchase is spouting .

The guy is refusing to acknowledge that if & its a very big IF, Aurora believes the whiney bullshit she is discrediting her own legacy with is true then she has only fleetingly developed these supposedly firmly held beliefs .

Bottom line is as so many people on this thread have already pointed out she has never raised these concerns in her past so at best it is nothing more than a fashion statement to her like changing her undying affections toward Justin Bieber because Justin Timberlake isnt the man she dreamed he would be !

Shes a nonsensical, anti social, hypocritical bitch & the fact that she is a published author & we are even discussing her nonsense is an overwhelming argument in favor of why there should be a massive nuclear war that wipes out at least 6 billion “Consumers” & will hopefully bring the remaining 1 billion back to their senses !

No matter wat way you slice it she’s shooting herself in the foot & if not needlessly creating a stink for everyone else she is adding to it .

    Shame on you Paperchase !

  31. Paperchase Says:

I’m supposed to feel shame when disagreeing with some troll whose idea of humor is to advocate that 6 billon people die in a nuclear exchange. No thanks, I’ll pass.

As far as whether Ms. Snow is anti-social, I do not know, having never met her. However given that a substantial percentage of porn performers in the industry at any given time seem to have non-1st amendment problems with law enforcement (as in criminal convictions), and she doesn’t, makes it apparent that she is no more, and probably less anti-social then her peers.

Bla de Bla has not offered any proof that Snow engages in what society at large considers anti-social activity, other then taking a position that he hates.

Now if anyone has proof she took money to support position B, I’m all ears. Otherwise, you guys are offering nothing other then proof that she previously did gonzo unprotected and has now changed her mind.

  32. Bla de Bla Says:

    @Paperchase

Your arrogance is almost as staggering as your overt stupidity .

1′stly I come up with an age old sure fire solution to solve the rapidly falling standard of the quality of living in the western world & you announce that I am joking .

You apparently think that death & War is some kind of joke & that your life on earth has no meaning .

Perhaps you were trying to ridicule the idea but you have only added credibility to my theory seeing as the likes of you can put forward no reasonable excuse for your continued existence .

As for Aurora, if she has fallen foul of the perverted injustice system in whatever political jurisdiction she may well reside in is neither here no there when we are discussing the content of her character .

What is up for discussion is the evidence before us & that evidence which I have outlined from the beginning & all throughout this thread has reasonably lead me to draw the conclusions about her behavior that I have done .

Rest assured that come the revolution her like will be placed in stocks in the town centre, tarred, feathered & ridiculed for being such a wannabe snide Anti Social cunt while your like are festering in the Gulag .

    SHAME ON YOU PAPERCHASE !

  33. Carnal Comics Says:

In contrast to Aurora Snow becoming more critical of her x-rated career, Traci Lords has been gradually softening the negative way she has talked about her involvement in porn. Traci used to gets irritated when people would mention her involvement in porn. I have heard that for over 10 years now that Traci has been signing porn items for people if they will pay a lot.

At a Comic-Con International: San Diego, I handed Traci a TV Guide with a full page photo and interview with her. Traci did not charge me anything. A friend, who owned a comic book store, told me that some guy asked her to sign porn that he had with him, Traci said she would do it for $150. In a Huffington Post article, Traci commented about society’s attitude toward porn: “the big bummer of that is the judgement that’s placed upon it and the fact that we live in a society where sex workers are evil. And still… porn is the most looked at thing on the planet! Hello, hypocrites! [Laughs]”

In the same interview, Traci also criticized Measure B: “I was reading about how pissed off the adult industry is about Measure B. I was shocked — shocked! — that they passed it because it’s unenforceable and it’s stupid. You’re forcing them to do something they don’t want to do. And why?”

  34. jeremysteele11 Says:

Traci Lords is a piece of shit, she’s now scheming for attention and revenue by charging $150 for an autograph for porn, which she claims “victimized” her.

  35. Bla de Bla Says:

Is there any particular reason my reply to Paperchase is being held for moderation even though two people have been published on this thread during that time ?

If Paperchase is a “Moderator” then surly we should be made aware of that before we dare risk his mighty censorship wrath by replying to him ?

  36. Paperchase Says:

I’m sure if you worked harder at it, you could be a slightly more convincing troll.

Fortunately Cindy has not made me a moderator at this compost heap, the first thing I would have done was give Germy a week off for all of his deranged Sandy Hook bullshit.

  37. Bla de Bla Says:

    @Paperchase

Far be it from me to make excuses on yer behalf but
obviously you had yer nose so far up yer own arse while indulging in yer favorite pastime of sniffin it, you missed the long delayed post number 32 .

  38. jeremysteele11 Says:

All I provided was a mirror of the deranged, pooperface. The hoax has already been blown wide open. You wrote a long rant defending Mr Carver, but his strange behavior also took notice away from state troopers who were laughing during the conference as well as smiling and laughing during the drill that was going on at the same time as confirmed by DHS and Ct dot gov sites. There’s what you would call a “crazy bitch” out there with a site on youtube called “The Political Port” titled “BREAKING NEWS OUT OF NEWTOWN CT! CONSPIRACY THEORISTS WERE RIGHT TO QUESTION!” where she gets into how the Connecticut State’s Attorney’s office admitting there is a possibility of more than one shooter! Drills have happened at all these events, same time and place: WTC93, OK City, Colubmine, 7/7, Aurora, Oslo, Tuscon and S.Hook to name a few. I know you could never admit in a gazillion years you are wrong P.F. but this scam has been blown wide open.

  39. Karmafan Says:

Dammit Paperchase why did you mention sandy Hook and Hoaxes? Jeremy goes right off the rails when he reads that! See what happens?

  40. Third Axis Says:

Jeremy, when you do all of your “research” with the Internet as your only source, then you seriously dilute your argument. You must speak directly to your sources, the actual people involved, to build an acceptable base of witnesses upon which to build any plausible scenario. We call this, “journalism.” Unfortunately, you have never done so, in all of your conspiracy rants. Thusly, they remain so, simple rants. Tiresome, at best, and lazy. Do the work.

  41. jeremysteele11 Says:

Third, Ive done plenty of homework on this subject. One of my videos is from an anonymous DHS agent who admitted drills were happening the same time n place as the alleged shooting. There is plenty of video footage of various witnesses n ground n sky views of the “crime” scene and a mother pleading for justice regarding her living daughters photos from sevesl yeats ago being portrayed as one of the victims. Generally speakibg, your argument correctly applies to boobtubers who accept the ultra thin coverage of events through the controlled corporate media.

  42. jeremysteele11 Says:

Also, your point that no one can possibly know what’s the truth unless they speak directly to sources means we should accept nothing we’re told is true as being true, including, of course, everything we are told from the t.v.. If people combed over the details about the ____ ___ case like HLN is all over Jodi Arias then the public would know that the Connecticut State Attorney has stated there may have been more than one shooter. This statement in and of itself puts the Jodi Arias case (which isn’t even a controversy- she’s obviously full of shit) to shame. If you know anything about the scams of say 9/11, 7/7, Columbine, etc, etc, all which had drills going on same time and place by the way, then you know how deliberately horrible the controlled corporate coverage of the most important news stories are… but you don’t have to talk to the Warren Commission personally to know that magic bullets are a scientifically invalid “theory”. Your analysis 3rd is extremely lazy. Once upon a time I thought you were much smarter than these conclusions you’re making now. When I say a certain hoax has been blown wide open I’m not joking, I’m not exaggerated. All YOU have to do is the homework, and the information is there. And again, I’ll shut up as soon as a certain mother’s claim that her living daughter has been portrayed as an alleged victim by a different name… as soon as this issue is addressed, I’ll shut up. It never will, because it’s just yet one more smoking gun that the gestapo media will never cover.. the media that former CIA bosses have admitted, if not bragged, that they control.

  43. Jerkuliscious Says:

The only Sandy Hook hoax I know of is when you are a teen and they tell you of the nude beach, you think it is gonna be like a strip club w/ sand, like the European topless beaches. The reality is its all fags and old chubbies.

I think Jersey closed the other nude beach we had, down near Cape May, cause that was like a friggin rest stop w/o the stalls to hide the man on man horrors.

  44. jeremysteele11 Says:

All f*gs and chubbies, reminds me of Black Beach in San Diego years ago, except on holidays, then there were a lot more people, particularly couples.

  45. Sean Tompkins AKA TRPWL Says:

    ice cream doesn’t have bones

  46. jeremysteele11 Says:

There’s nothing like going to a nudist beach and there’s nothing but beached whales and male hairdressers and wordrobe dep’t heads.
