Batman Shooter (Jimbo) Appears in Court, Was he Reenacting Scene in Comics ?

thanks E

NL- Jimbo’s first court appearance was this morning. He was out of it, often closing his eyes like he was dazed or sleepy. I’m betting they have him on heavy meds.  Although he did not speak at the heaing and he is NOT cooperating with the police,  lots of little details are leaking out.  I find the story below quite interesting. It’s very possible he was reenacting a scene he read in his comics.  A couple new things I’ve found out are that Jimbo was very religious. He was heavily involved in his Presbyterian Church and had attended recently services. Also I find it interesting that a sticker on Jimbo’s Mom’s Car was for "To Write Love On Her Arms", which is an org "dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury and suicide." So who in their family was the one who needed help with these things… Jimbo?

There are eerie similarities between the massacre at the Aurora multiplex during a showing of “The Dark Knight Rises” and a sequence in a seminal 1986 comic book.
In the second issue of Frank Miller’s “The Dark Knight Returns” a crazed gunman stands up in the middle of a Batman-inspired porn movie and opens fire inside the crowded theater.
“Arnold Crimp fingers the cold steel thing in his pocket and stares at the movie marquee and does not throw up,” the caption reads above one panel.

“The [movie] title is ‘My Sweet Statan,’ the narrator continues, as the red-headed gunman stands up in the darkened theater with a revolver in his hand. “Which is what Arnold Crimp is absolutely certain he heard when he played “Stairway to Heaven” backwards.”

“On the screen, a nun — a nun is doing something and she’s painted exactly like a whore.”
The scene then cuts to a television news telecast with a Batman logo in the background. “Three slain in Batman-inspired porn theater shoot-out. Details to follow…”

Novelist and comic book writer Brad Meltzer, however, told the News that real Batman fans know the super hero has an anti-gun code – especially since his origin involves his witnessing the shooting deaths of his parents.

“Listen, you’re talking about a character that’s been published over 60 years with a million stories, if you want to look through all those panels through Comic book fist fights, you’re going to eventually find one that’s could be construed as similar,” said Meltzer. “But that’s as like blaming the Columbine school shooting years ago on rock and roll music.”

Though it’s unclear if the suspected gunman who killed the 12 people at the midnight showing of “The Dark Knight Rises” early Friday morning ever read the Miller series, he apparently knows something of comic book lore.

James Holmes launched his attack while dressed as a comic book villain, police said.

“He said he was the Joker, enemy of Batman,” New York City Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said after being briefed by Aurora police.

  1. I hate the fact they are constantly linking this asshat to the Batman movie as if to insinuate that the movie drove this guy to do what he did.

A nutjob is a nutjob and he probably would have done this at any big movie showing just because he was crazy and a bunch of victims were gathering all in one place. Watch it turn out that he had mental health problems and was off his meds.

  2. RickMadrid says:

Too much school and working at McDonalds will do that to these former San Deigo rich asswhipes. I say put him in my jail cell. I’ll sell him for 5 cases of Top-Ramen and a carton of Camels. White guys amaze me. Spoil rotten and just looking for it.

  3. From the newswire:

Batman star Christian Bale visited survivors of the Colorado theater shooting Tuesday and stopped by a makeshift memorial to victims of the attack that killed 12 people and injured 58.

Carey Rottman, one of those injured in Friday’s shooting at a theater showing “The Dark Knight Rises,” posted two photos of himself with Bale on his Facebook page. Hospital staff also posted a Facebook photo of the actor with some staff members.

An online campaign had urged Bale to visit survivors of the shooting.

After visiting The Medical Center of Aurora, Bale stopped by a makeshift memorial to the victims near the movie theater. He walked among the 12 crosses erected for each of the slain victims, and many people there didn’t realize who he was or chose to leave him alone.

A Warner Bros. spokeswoman told The Denver Post that Bale was representing himself, not the movie studio.

Bale, who stars as Batman in “The Dark Knight Rises,” previously issued a written statement saying: “Words cannot express the horror that I feel. I cannot begin to truly understand the pain and grief of the victims and their loved ones, but my heart goes out to them.”

President Barack Obama and members of the Denver Broncos also have made hospital visits to some of the survivors.
