Porno Dan Raided Today? UPDATED, Make that Visited by LAPD

NL-I now think "raided" is a strong word. OSHA was not there. Dan was "visited" by LA Vice who told him  "any shooting for profit or gain will now need a permit. " And since Dan was shooting a cam show, I would take this to mean that anyone shooting a cam show in LA should now be getting a permit for it.

Ok, how does Vice know who is camming from LA?  And to take this a step farther, if they are required to get a permit, is that so shortly they can enforce the "if you have a permit you must be using condoms" rule, or be fined? This is all in the early stages since it just went on a few hours ago. Vice left, Dan and the girls did their show.

Tomorrow Dan will see what more he can find out about all of this. Dan says if it truly is the law that he has to get a permit, he will get one, and if he must use condoms while shooting cam shows, he will,  since he already uses condoms about 1/2 the time anyway.

If this is really how the law will be enforced, requiring permits for cam shows, it has to be done equally across the board. All cam shows done in LA will need to have a permit?   How will Vice EVER do that?

NL-Breaking Story that Porno Dan’s Immoral Productions Office was raided Vice & OSHA a couple hours ago. The officers read on Twitter that he was shooting a live sex show in his office and showed up at his door.

  1. I’ve heard many, many, many very unpleasant rumors about things that have taken place on the sets of Porno Dan shoots, or after the fact.

So if they are on the radar of the feds this does not surprise me.

Actually anyone who does the more hardcore stuff can probably expect some problems in the coming months … including things like gang bangs, bukkake, etc. Rumor has it (and this rumor is from a source who has been very reliable in the past) is that they are going to use the condom thing as a front to get into the door in hopes of catching people in more serious offenses including drugs and under age drinking.

I am told they have a certain list of people on their radar and are using things like twitter and facebook as tools as well as some performers as informants … as PAID informants to boot.

  2. Update reply … I think they might mean COMMERCIAL production of cam shows will need a permit. They probably don’t mean the average person doing it from their home. Of course I could be wrong, as I am no lawyer but I’m sure they mean commercial productions like when a company hires a girl to come in and cam from a said location. So anything that isn’t a commercial venture – like say just you on your cam at home would not be in the same league. Know what I mean? Hopefully a lawyer can step in here and clear this up for us.

  3. Michael Whiteacre says:

Kelli — This is LAPD vice, not the feds. None of the things you mentioned they might be looking for (drugs and under-age drinking) are federal beefs — they’re all local police matters.

The people on the authorities’ “radar” are those producers who consistently use the same shoot locations. If you own a studio that is not a licensed soundstage, this might be a good time to dump it.

No one is surprised by this action; Michael Fattorosi predicted it in an article a while back. As I also wrote months ago, here on LIB, LA vice knows all the usual shoot locations. That’s why people have begun seeking and shooting at virgin locations (especially those with ample parking and/or fences/hedges to hide the grip trucks), and properties outside the city of LA.

Sure they’ll try to use rats, too — and they will succeed only in driving LA adult production back to being an underground industry.

This is Stage One — harassment and forced relocations.

LA’s mandatory condoms “Working Group” meets tomorrow morning in downtown LA. I’m looking forward to it being a very interesting meeting.

And, yes, they mean commercial shoots — shoots that require a filming permit, unlike someone making home movies.

  4. Michael Whiteacre says:

But even “commercial shoots” isn’t clearly defined under this ridiculous, unconstitutional ordinance. What if a couple is selling their webcast, but aren’t “hiring” or paying each other (i.e., they co-own the venture)? The whole thing is a mess.

  5. Jerkuliscious says:

Any of you whores need a safe place to cam from, I got 2: My bedroom and my basement in Jersey. All you need is a clean test and a hungry butthole. 5’2 and under go to the top of the list.

The older I get, the more hair and couth disappear.

  6. I often use “feds” when I should more properly say “law enforcement”. Thank you for correcting me in that area. But I stand by what I said … the LAPD has had a handful of producers on their shit list for awhile now and this condom ordinance gives them a easy excuse to visit those sets far more often.

The things he listed for me were specific actions they are looking for include underage drinking, illegal drug use, and sexual misconduct, including rape.

  7. My heart bleeds Kool-aid for Porno Dan. The man is a douchebag.

But I agree with Michael. This type of action would only force porn production underground.

  8. Michael Whiteacre says:

Dan attended today’s meeting, as did attorneys Allan Gelbard and Michael Fattorosi, Free Speech Coalition’s Diane Duke, reporters from AVN & XBIZ, and myself.

The meeting was a 20 minute farce. The working group STILL has no proposal for enforcement — so there was nothing to discuss.

In the public comment section, Dan and Fattorosi spoke of the problematic (and by no means coincidental) visit by LAPD and the practical impossibility of enforcement; Duke took the position that rules and enforcement must be uniform (and uniformly applied) across the entire spectrum of film production, without regard to content; Gelbard explained why and how the ordinance was unconstitutional; and AHF’s despicable Mark “Wolverine” McGrath berated the working group for even considering issues such as whether the law is pre-empted by state law, because it’s now the law(!) and “you’ve been tasked with” simply designing a mechanism of enforcement against the outlaw/scofflaw adult film industry.

  9. I would have imagined the police had more important things to do with their time, but I guess I am wrong.

  10. Sandy Bunz says:

Looks to me like the LAPD and the City of Los Angeles is trying to make porn shoots in LA a thing of the past, Cam or not. Sorry to hear this news but
their are other cities and counties in California.
You have to consider the mayor and future Presidential Puppet needs to have brownie points for his future campaign. Antonio will boast he cleaned up the Valley of porn like Guliani did with Times Square. Actually the Porn Valley was the wrong place for the industry to settle in at a long time ago. The early porners should have located in Malibu so the shoots would be cool in the summer. The New
Yorkers who choose Chatsworth were mistaken by low rents of warehouses.

  11. LA Police Priority List:

    Serial Killers – Nope
    Bank Robbers – Nope
    Drive By Shooters – Nope
    Pedophiles – Nope
Drug Dealers – Nope (just take their stash and cash for yourself and let them go).
Porn Stoots Not Complying With Condoms – CHECK!

  12. jeremysteele11 says:

I guess it can’t be the longest stretch of the imagination to think Porno Dan would be on the LAPD Raid-ar.

  13. RickMadrid says:

JustDavexxx ; would say; HAHAHAHAHAA! Now that is the funniest one atricle of the day for Porn LA. You have to use Condoms for Girl solo shoots!!. Just move the shoots over the city line to Burbank and or Glendale, Kim Kardashian is going to be Mayor of glendale , one of these days and you can pay her off!. Some of the girls are shooting for LA adult production companies in there own houses and they’re not in LA and having to deal with permits. My Producer just landed a $ 30,000 deal with a MAJOR porn company out of LA , to shoot elsewhere and they’re doing the right thing to get around all that BS. Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy! Have a good weekend and stay the fuck off Twitter if you’re shooting something and bragging about it. Might bite you in the ass in LA.

  14. RickMadrid says:

HAHAHA…couldn’t have happen to one of Cindi’s better butt boys! He is such a industry butt kisser, don’t be surprise he’s snitching to save his own ass. 530pm over here on the West Coast and the above is still in Moderation. MikeSouth.com has talked about all this happening weeks ago. Really slow reporting out here. Adios…

  15. Jerkuliscious says:

As I have said before, election year grand standing. The politicians will all jizz in their pants if they find meth and an under 21 whore drinking on set. Imagine if authorities happened upon the Tanner Mayes meltdown set, rubber checking. This is all going to escalate until Aug/Sept/Oct so it is fresh in the minds of voters. Quality of life crime, and whatnot.

It is only going to take one dirty set out of a thousand to blast across the headlines and accomplish their goals. Some sound guy has the tail end of last night’s coke binge in his back pocket: Fucked. 19 year old whore shows up stinking like Patron and pilled up: Fucked. The headlines will read like Pablo Escobar was dragging girls outta grade school getting them loaded and doing rosebud porn with them.

Producers will have to pat down the crew when they show up to work. And if the gubment don’t get what they want, they’ll make it happen. Pick up some suitcase pimp w/warrants and have him hide a bag of pills on a set so he don’t have to do 60 days in county. The headlines will come, mark my words. And it will only take one for the screws to tighten.

Last porn producer in Los Angeles, please turn out the lights.

  16. The problem is, leaving LA is not a panacea. AHF’s bullhorn will follow the Industry wherever it goes…

  17. I’m sorry to say it but looks like the 2nd Golden Age of Porn has passed. The Industry expanded massively in the 2000s but it looks as if it’s about to going to a be fraction of it’s former self. Most people just think porn is immoral and don’t give a shit. They don’t give a crap. Entertainment historians would explain the rise of porn in the 2000s with advances in Internet technologies and a nation-wide meth epidemic–and then they’d close the book and say good riddance.

Someone needs to stop these guys. Cut whatever deal needs to be cut. I’m sick of this infamous aura lingering over this Industry. Erotica has done a lot of good for sexual exploration. There are a lot of shitty practices and people–and they must be eliminated–but people cannot just paint with such a broad stroke!

When is the government and AHF really going to COOPERATE with the Adult Industry in good faith? What can be done to get to that point of cooperation?

  18. christianx says:

i hate to speak negatively about the great Porno Dan, because he is a friend of mine, but him trying to claim he was just shooting a cam show is kind of ridiculous. Let’s not pretend it was him and a girl on their laptop with the integrated webcam in action when the vice cops showed up.

This is a large porn studio full of dildos, dvd’s, lube, and all sorts of sexual stuff.

There is a still photographer there with a giant still camera.

There are about 5-7 people on set at least in the scene or about to be in a scene.

There is a guy holding a video camera that is connected to a cord that is connected to a 50 inch television monitor.

I could go on, but I would rather not. But let’s just say that Porno Dan attempting to pretend that what happened to him could ever in a million years happen to some girl sitting in her apartment and fooling around on her laptop is a bit….farfetched.

Again, I like Porno Dan, but lets get serious.

  19. Michael Whiteacre says:

Christian, with respect, I attended the “Working Group” meeting, and the position of the authorities is that ANY webcam for profit (including people at home) requiters a permit (which, as you know, requites insurance) and under the new ordinance any webcam show which involves an exchange of bodily fluids requires condoms be used.

So, there is the principle. Now, will they ever be able to track own EVERY webcam show? No. But they don’t have to; they intend to create a “chilling effect” — those are the actual words they used at the July 2011 meeting that spawned this unconstitutional law.

They’re going to go around harassing producers and performers at every known shoot location in an attempt to intimidate them into compliance.

  20. christianx says:

gotcha, i see your point. so what you are saying is that if I want to webcam in my apartment by myself with my laptop, there is a 0 percent chance of getting in trouble?

  21. Michael Whiteacre says:

Not 0 percent — they want you to have a permit for that, too, however they’re probably far less likely to come after you if you’re solo.

The best advice is to shoot only at places for which a permit has never been pulled and which the LAPD has never visited. LA Vice will be visiting all the usual suspects. If a performer has ever done or hosted a permit shoot at their home, webcam is now a risky proposition.

Cast and crew also need to refrain from tweeting locations to which they’re headed and even four whom they’ll be shooting. Loose lips sink ships. It’s also a good idea to have cast and crew turn off GPS on their cell phones — tweets and pics should not be geotagged.

  22. christianx says:

95 percent of streamate cam shows are solo. there are only like 5-10 boy-girl cam shows in LA. so really your warning is for those people correct? Not the other 100 people who cam solo in their own apartment.

you seem to be lumping them both together and that seems to me like apples and oranges.

  23. Michael Whiteacre says:

The city of LA is lumping them all together — condoms or no condoms, multi-performer our solo. Just like in the old days LAPD vice is out looking for non-permit shoots, and using this new law as their excuse to get in the door.

Their marching order are: 1) all shoots (including webcasts) for profit must have permits and insurance), and 2) all those that involve an exchange of fluids must also use condoms.

  24. jeremysteele11 says:

Gee, I’m so much happier and feel so much safer now thanks to Pornland Homeland Security… 😐 porn nazis knocking on doors making sure you have your papers and your rubbers… meanwhile people are waking up, calling STDs STIs, along with the confusion about which HIV test is best, since they’re all bogus, as proven by their manucturer’s disclaimer. Believed to be HIV means they don’t know and that’s what all the tests say.

  25. Michael Whiteacre says:

America 2012: the government can enter private property to inspect people’s genitalia to make sure they’re wearing condoms while engaged in constitutionally protected activity.

  26. jeremysteele11 says:

We should write on our own cuntstitution. We, the porno people…

  27. RickMadrid says:

So you have to put “condoms” on dildos to do solo shoots? Are you serious? Only in “fucking” LA.

  28. christianx says:

i guess we will find out if it apples & oranges when we hear about LA Vice busting a guy or girl jerking off by themselves in their own apartment. Until then, it just sounds like Porno Dan got busted shooting a scene and tried to gain safe harbor by saying it was just a webcam scene and not a movie even though he had a video camera, a still photographer, a studio, performers, monitors, etc. etc.

  29. Larry Horse says:

Dan Leal is not a bright guy, but he does not deserve this shit. I hope at least if Dan was naked the cops threatened to arrest him by offending the viewing public if he did not cover up. That would be the only reason for busting in on his set. Off topic again, and maybe I asked Mr Whiteacre about this, but where the hell is Weinstein on gay marriage. As an issue for the GLBTQ community would not gay marriage be higher on his agenda than trying to put condoms on every porn set in the county, and of course how come he is not working on this where gay porn is shot up north or where porn is shot down by San Diego, like in the old great NA days?

  30. RickMadrid says:

Its really amazing. Los Angeles city is now 222 million in the hole and going fucking broke and they want to enforce condom regs now. Let just “break” they’re broke asses at City Hall , and don’t pay taxes. And california is 16 billion dollars in debt. They got no money.

  31. Jerkuliscious says:

Kinda sounds like they are trying to generate some revenue by saying cam whores need permits.

Also, I read that California is looking at about 1.5 billion in tax revenue from the Facebook IPO.

  32. In response to Larry Horse, another ironic thing with Michael Weinstein is that he is against proposition 8 that banned gay marriage. In the case of gay marriage, Michael Weinstein rightly has taken a stand that voters shouldn’t decide on which adults can be allowed to marry each other and yet his condom proposition is trying to get a majority of voters to approve forcing actors to wear condoms.

You are right that condoms in porn is a much bigger issue for Michael Weinstein then gay marriage. The majority shouldn’t always be allowed to take away rights from the minority. If you left it up to voters in many states, porn would be illegal. This is especially true in southern states. Interracial marriage could be banned in states
before the supreme court disallowed it. In muslim countries,
    many people favor killing homosexuals.

A similarity when it comes to the propostions is that in each case, specific groups were the main forces behind the propositions. When it comes to proposition 8, there is a documentary called The Mormon Proposition (2010). The documentary shows what a big role the Mormon church had in getting the proposition passed.

  33. Michael Whiteacre says:

It is ironic to the point if nausea that supporters of gay rights would be so eager to put the rights of others up to a plebiscite. Michael Weinstein is not only a megalomaniac, he is an authoritarian whose tactics threaten the very principles upon which our nation was founded.

  34. RickMadrid says:

SO CONDOMS ON TOYS FOR SOLO SHOOTS??

  35. Anthony Kennerson says:

    @Rick

Probably not in this statute, since they’re only focused on anal/vaginal/oral sex penetration.

The requirement of having to purchase a permit to do any form of explicit sex in a paid setting (a website or a porn video production), OTOH, is about as dangerous and invasive of privacy as it gets…even skipping the condom mandate.

Basically, the statute passed in LA is saying that if you make even one red cent out of recording a sex scene for yourself or others, they can force you to pay through the nose, AND force a condom (or a dental dam, or even gloves and goggles) down your throat. The prevailing attitude seems to be this: “Don’t like it?? Tough shit, Sherlock…you shouldn’t be doing porn in the first place. Sex is a privilege only for those with one life partner in marriage for the sake of busting out children for Jeebus…or for selling condoms for ‘safer sex’.”

    Anthony

  36. Anthony Kennerson says:

Ummm, Rick..you do know that there is a similar referendum to the LA condom law now on the ballot for the rest of LA County, right?

  37. chichiladouche says:

    Here is a little irony…

Porno Dan is friends with Derrick Burts on Facebook.

You know Mike South made a good point about Ira Isaacs/Max Hardcore and how they treated talent. Perhaps it was someone in the industry that dropped the dime on Porno Dan. I know a lot of people will disagree, but IMO I think people like Porno Dan and their extreme kinds of porn don’t help the condom issue in the industry.

  38. RickMadrid says:

Thats crazy Anthony! put a condom on a Toy or a dildo. Just anyway to make money and fuck them selves for not gettng anymore tax revenue from this industry. 16 billion dollars in Debt and 222 million the city is in the HOLE…had a dude tried to get me to sign one of those condom ballots..Are U out of your fucking mind …I told him I was on Parole for MURDER…hehehe He ran awsy…Have a good weekend porners…
