Hollie Stevens found out she had breast cancer a several months ago. For the past few months she has been undergoing chemotherapy. Just this Monday, she had a Mastectomy, which removed her left breast. The surgery went well. She is now home recovering. Hollie needs at least a month to heal and be well enough before she must start her prescribed 25 radiation treatments. She has great friends around her taking care of her and helping her stay positive. She has MediCal that helps with her medical bills. But she is not able to work to pay her living expenses, so there is fund-raising going on in her honor spearheaded by January Seraph. Hollie has been very open and honest about her fight against cancer.

How are you spending your recovery time?
I’ve discovered that TJ Hooker is amazing. Reality television is on and I’ve introduced January ( Seraph ) & Laura ( solaceSF ) to Toddlers & Tiaras, My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding and enjoy The Sarah Connor Chronicles while I wait for room service. Also, a few friends have visited and that’s been great.
To my friends and fans: I’m blown away by the love and support. Knowing people are giving to help me thru the next months has shown me how many kind people there are. I read all of my messages that get sent to helpinghollie@gmail.com and seeing the retweets and facebook posts is humbling. I’m so grateful.
side note: regarding the mention of room service. January and Laura provided a hotel room close to the hospital for Hollie’s recovery. Her home and bedroom were not ideal for the first week plus of her recovery. It also added some privacy she would have lacked for obvious reasons.

@jeremysteele11 I’m fucking offended that you would post a link to such pseudo science. I’m all for health education, but while holistic therapy in conjunction with traditional methods does improve one’s odds at recovery, only using holistic methods dramatically decreases one’s recovery chances. That’s not just based on some idea I got from talking to people or reading some hippie site, it’s scientifically proven data.
As someone whose mother has survived breast cancer, and who has lost two other family members to breast cancer, one of whom tried holistic medicine instead of conventional methods, I’ve seen first hand how hard this disease is to overcome, even with all of the advances the medical industry has made in the last decade. It doesn’t just take physical strength, it takes determination and courage.
I’m proud of Hollie for taking care of herself and making herself go to her chemo appointments, despite the fact each time made her feel like shit. She never complains, and is incredibly optimistic. She’s committed to getting healthy, no matter how hard it is.
Furthermore, suggesting to someone who is ill that what they are doing to recover is wrong, doesn’t help them have a positive outlook on their recovery. And often times, that is the most important factor in a person’s recovery process.
Unless you have something positive to say to or about someone who is seriously ill, keep your fucking mouth shut.
I appreciate your emotional concern about the issue JS. However, it is not psuedo-science to acknowledge that cancer used to be extremely rare but grew to extraordinary rates following the industrialization of western civilization. The problem is toxicity based and so are the so-called “solutions” western medicine offers.
My mouth is neither fucking, nor open, as I write this January, but my mind (and heart) is. You say psuedo-science while the medical fraternity act as high priests with their lucrative death solutions of radiation (there’s a reason doctors run out of the room right before they take your x-rays), chemo and knives, which is of the same patented American mentality of Generals who say we need to destroy a village in order to save it.
We are all free to choose and hopefully to make an informed decision. “Scientically proven data” is cherry picked, while alternative tharapies are suppressed and denied because it’s bad for business. Cancer, like AIDS, is a huge industry. The men wearing white coats and stethescopes have fear and terror as an effective means of control and influence.
My grandmother died recently of Cancer. She smoked cigarettes for over 60 years. She also rejected their recommended chemo and other therapies, as was her right, with the same emotional content which you posess, January.

As for Jeremy Steele (I hope I have the name right), watch swinging around names of mental illnesses to insult someone. I would be highly surprised if Monica is actually schizophrenic, but even suggesting that about someone without actually knowing is a very low blow. Mental illness is not always easy to live with and it is very tragic for those afflicted. Yes, mental illness can be treated and many go on to live relatively normal lives (as long as medication is taken) but many more cannot function in society due to mental illness either due to impaired insight into the condition causing the person not to take medication or due to the medications not having efficacy in that person. Please do some research on mental illness so you understand what you are suggesting when you insult someone like that (and preferably not use that type of insult again).
