Old Mexican Porn Found

YNOT EUROPE – La Universidad Autónoma de México (the Autonomous University of Mexico) has embarked upon an interesting initiative: Librarians in the film archive are cataloguing pornographic films lensed in Mexico during the first half of the 20th Century.

So far the list includes 35 films, most of them silent. Many were projected in the brothels of Mexico City. Most shocking about the collection, according to UNAM Film Library Curator Francisco Gaytán, is that some of the movies were filmed in the homes of conservative members of the upper class, and many mock the Catholic church, which is a mainstay of Mexican society.

  1. Wonder if any of them are about Tijuana Donkey Shows?

  2. It makes sense that the Church would be mocked in this underground films from that period.

The Catholic Church backed the old dictatorship in the 1910 Revolution in Mexico; during the Revolution in parts of Northern Mexico, there was even a death sentence laid against Catholic priests, who were seen as enemies of the revolution and the people.

The Church hasn’t had the same influence since, and many Mexicans over the years have abandoned the Mother Church for Evangelical and other Protestant faiths.
