Porn Guardian Says They have Shut Down Piracy Blogs-UPDATE

UPDATE- I heard from Peter ( the boss at Porn Guardian) and he was nice enough to give me more info and the name of the blog PornGuardian most recently had shut down. They would rather not publicize it because they don’t want to give the blog publicity and traffic. Very understandable. I will say that it is a male gay blog, that is/was on Blogspot.  It is out of Mexico City, some of it is in Spanish and I had never heard of it before I got the name from them. If you are really interested in the name you can email me and I will send it to you.

Here is what Peter said "I received your web inquiry regarding our recent success against a sophisticated, prolific and very popular piracy blog based in Mexico City.  We thought long and hard about whether or not to name the blog in our press release because frankly, the release will live out there forever and it seemed counter-productive to name the blog and give the blogger any press advantage that might result.
He is now posting that he plans to re-invent himself in about two weeks and start over from scratch.  We intend to watch him through that process and then we will pick an appropriate moment to strike again with the goal of shutting him down permanently.  I don’t want to telegraph our next move, but we do have several more actions planned.  Please take a good long look through the various pages of the blog.  It is just a shell now – lots of imagery and scene descriptions- – yes.  But those serve as reasonable promotion for our clients’ content which this pirate blogger can no longer distribute and monetize himself.  All the links are dead.  All of "his" content is gone.  His filesharing account has been closed and his IP address has been banned from his preferred service."

NL- I will do more on PornGuardian. It’s a very interesting company. I like what they are doing and the owner seems very friendly 😉

NL- I love that Guardian is shutting down piracy sites, but in order to make their point I certainly think they should be naming them. I don’t see any reason why they wouldn’t name the sites they are getting shut down. Do you? If they are doing a great job with piracy and want us to join with them ( and pay a fee) I want some names I can check into. Peter, can I ask you a few questions? Anyone know which sites Guardian has shut down?

Porn Guardian’s IndustryGuardian Program Shuts Down Another Major Illegal Blog
February 18, 2011

IndustryGuardian, the community service program offered by anti-piracy company Porn Guardian, has struck again. IndustryGuardian is a public service that pro-actively seeks to thwart illegal file trading on behalf of the entire adult community.

This morning, a prolific piracy blogger awoke to find that his sophisticated file sharing blog had been completely dismantled by Porn Guardian’s IndustryGuardian program. Overnight, the blogger’s file sharing hosts agreed to permanently close his affiliate accounts and block access to all of his uploaded files in order to maintain their “Safe Harbor” status under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act.

Porn Guardian had been monitoring the blog’s activities for several months. 36 hours ago, the anti-piracy company took action as a part of its proactive anti-piracy stance.

Through its IndustryGuardian initiative, Porn Guardian has dismantled several similar blogs in recent weeks.

“Porn Guardian is seeking support from all content producers to be part of our IndustryGuardian program,” said Porn Guardian partner Peter Phinney. “We’re offering an opportunity for the industry to come together and present a united anti-piracy front. The cost of participation is minimal, and the outcomes are dramatic.”

Participation in the IndustryGuardian program costs only $150 a year and ensures that all members are included in the pro-active raids provided by the company. Members also receive quarterly updates and vital anti-piracy information that will help them combat piracy on their own sites.

Porn Guardian is a Gold Sponsor of this year’s Phoenix Forum, and will be unveiling complete details of the program at the forum. “The power we gain by working together to fight piracy is necessary if we want to have a chance of winning this war,” says partner Dominic Ford.

Porn Guardian is the leading anti-piracy service for the adult industry. It was chosen by the Free Speech Coalition to become part of its Anti Piracy program (APAP), and nominated for an XBIZ Award this year for “Most Innovative Web Product.” It is the first anti-piracy system ever to be nominated for an XBIZ Award.

Porn Guardian clients receive 24/7 piracy protection, a state-of-the-art reporting interface, evidence gathering and automatic enrollment in the IndustryGuardian initiative.
